TURN THE PG

Woman: “Excuse me, Mr. Adonis. This way.”

Derek Adonis felt like a child in the Principal’s office, his stomach a bundle of nerves as he passed down the hallway riddled with non-descript offices. Looking around, he literally recognized no one along the way, which didn’t help matters. All Adonis knew was that earlier in the week, he was sent a message from Supreme Championship Wrestling headquarters. Apparently he was being requested for a personal meeting with SCW’s head of Standards and Practices, Eric Richards, pertaining to his public persona. It made Adonis nervous because the whole thing confused him. He didn’t know what “Standards and Practices” took care of. And as for his “public persona”, while he put his personality over the top - some advice he got from a wrestler-turned-movie star who once eloped in his KABLAM Wedding Chapel in beautiful Las Vegas, Nevada - he didn’t know what was meant by that either. He walks into the office of Mr. Richards and chuckles a bit, imagining the man wearing a cardigan sweater and loafers. To his dismay, there was no sweater to be seen as he was clearly confusing Eric Richards with Mr. Rogers.

Richards: “Mr. Adonis, thank you for joining me.”

Derek walks in, shaking the man’s hand and imagining the cheesiest line he can muster…

Adonis: “Please, call me Derek. Mr. Adonis was my father.”

It wasn’t, and Eric knew this.

Richards: “Says here your birth name is “Marchetti”...”

Derek was caught. Flustered, he laughs half-heartedly before shrugging his shoulders, putting his hands in the air with an innocent…

Adonis: “You got me.”

Richards: “Please… take a seat.”

Eric motions to the chairs across from the desk. Derek looks to them and steps around, sitting back in one of them before wriggling in it just a little bit to get comfortable. As he focused on the feeling of his ass in the chair, Richards began to speak.

Richards: “I want to thank you for joining me here today. We don’t have an awful lot to talk to you about. You must be wondering why I asked for you here, and I just want to assure you that it is not my function to process terminations.”

Derek looks up with a concerned expression.

Richards: “That means you’re not getting fired.”

He breathes a sigh of relief.

Adonis: “Oh thank God! I know I come across kind of strong at times, and I was afraid that someone decided to take that and file a false report about me on the internet. You know they can ruin lives now just by saying you did something?”

Richards: “Mr. Adonis… Derek… please.”

Adonis: “Sorry. Just when I get nervous I start to ramble.”

Richards: “I… I get it. Just, please.”

Adonis makes the motion across his lips as though he’s zipping them shut. Richards pulls out a green file folder, opening it in front of him.

Richards: “Derek, Supreme Championship Wrestling takes great pains to monitor its talent to make sure the company remains… protected… should any legal issues arise. We’ve had some issues before where talent has done things like terrorize Sesame Street or…”

Derek tries to stifle a laugh.

Richards: “Is something funny?”

Adonis: “No… well, yeah… but it’s cool. I just remembered that episode.”

Richards: “Derek, I want to cut through the forest and get down to the heart of the matter here. We’re going to need you to tone it down a bit.”

Derek tilts his head in further confusion.

Adonis: “Que pasa?”

Richards: “To date, we’ve received several complaints about your programming choices on SCW television due to it’s overtly sexual nature.”

Adonis: “Come again?”

Richards: “There are people out there who seem to think you’re a “smut peddler”.”

Derek shakes his hands, waving off the criticism.

Adonis: “That was just Loretta. We’re cool now… there’s a truce and everything.”

Richards: “It’s not just Loretta.”

Adonis: “What!? Who? I want names and....”

Richards: “It’s not the policy of SCW to retain names for complaints of this nature.”

Derek is dumbfounded. Who could complain about the fun-loving Man Mountain? Purveyor of KABLAM!? The greatest wrestler to come out of the drive-thru wedding chapel industry?

Adonis: “So what? You’re censoring me? Suspending me? FIRING me?”

Richards shakes his head.

Richards: “What? No. You see, Mr. Adonis, you’re a popular draw for young males aged eighteen to forty-nine. Your level of popularity, while confusing to many purists, has been a financial windfall for SCW.”

Adonis: “But people are complaining?”

Richards: “Yes…”

He looks down over his papers.

Richards: “Derek, have you ever considered… going PG?”

This confuses Adonis, who tilts his head as if he was a puppy receiving admonishment for something he didn’t quite understand because, really, he didn’t quite understand.

Adonis: “Come again?”

He laughs, probably because he said co-...

Richards: “I mean toning down your act… keeping all the charm and charisma that draws people to you, but losing some of the smutty undertones.”

Adonis: “Guy, without the “smutty undertones”, I have no act. You think it’s bewildering that young males aged eighteen to forty-nine support me. I have no question about it. Look at Cookie.”

Derek procures a photograph of his buxon wife from seemingly nowhere.

Richards: “I’ve seen your wi…”

Adonis: “LOOK AT HER!”

Richards sighs, looking at the picture.

Richards: “She’s very attractive.”

Adonis: “Now imagine what would happen if we had to take this very attractive image and cover it up. That target market would shrivel up faster than…”

Richards: “I…!”

He interjects loudly, cutting Adonis off before he could finish his shrivelling thought.

Richards: “I think we both know what’s coming next.”

Adonis: “A balloon in cold temperatures?”

This surprises Richards, who was expecting something a lot more graphic.

Adonis: “You want to tone me down… make me PG. I don’t think that’s the best way to operate is to give into special interest groups. Once you give them KABLAM, what are they going to come for next? Sienna Swann’s photoshoots? Selena Frost’s sponsorship deals on EV-ER-Y-THING!? I’ve dealt with people like that in Vegas. Once you give them an inch, they’ll start singing Twisted Sister about how they’re not going to take it and you’re stuck giving them everything. Then they crank the Beastie Boys because they think you’re trying to trifle with their right to party. THEN… ohhh… THEN they…”

Richards: “Are you done yet?”

Adonis: “CLEARLY I’m not.”

Richards: “You could just be rambling.”

Adonis stops to ponder that.

Adonis: “Ok, that’s fair.”

Richards: “Derek, SCW has appointed you a personal content advisor.”

He gasps.

Adonis: “A PCA!? … What’s a PCA?”

Richards: “It’s just someone that’s going to be around whenever you record things to make sure they remain… family-friendly.”

Derek reacts with an offended expression.

Adonis: “Everything I do is family-friendly! It couldn’t possibly be FRIENDLIER for families! Heck… our work helps GROW families… IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN!”

Richards: “Sadly I do. Look, Derek… the truth is, this was really only a courtesy visit. Miss Wright has already been assigned to your camera crews with the intent to evaluate first, then see where we can make changes and have more accountability.”

Adonis: “I’m sorry… Miss?”

Richards: “Portia Wright. She’s one of the top media consultants in the upper mid-northwest.”

Adonis: “And she’s going to make me PG?”

Richards: “That’s the goal.”

Adonis sits back, shaking his head.

Adonis: “And the KABLAM-a-sutra?”

Richards: “Your outside ventures will remain permitted, but will be held to stringent vetting standards. We’re trying to move away from the pornographic and towards something that will become more profitable for everyone.”

Voice: “What if “KABLAM” is something we can all feel comfortable with children saying?”

Eric looks up towards the door as Adonis spins, hearing the cadence of a female voice.

Richards: “Ah! I’m glad you could make it.”

He hurries out of his seat, approaching the woman and shaking her hand.

Richards: “Derek, this is Portia Wright…”

Wright: “And you must be Mr. Adonis. It’s a pleasure.”

Derek stammers.

Adonis: “Acquaintance to make your pleasure… I MEAN…”

Richards: “Derek! That wasn’t PG.”

Adonis: “That was a slip! Honest!”

Wright: “It’s quite alright, Eric. I’ve been doing this long enough to know that breaking out of old habits isn’t always the easiest.”

Richards: “Well come in… take a seat. We were just discussing some of the initial plans for this project.”

Derek watches as the woman walks in. For a censorship expert, she certainly appeared to be dressed to inspire thoughts of… no. No, Derek must resist those thoughts, no matter how smooth her legs were, or how much her necklace drew the eyes down her chest towards…

Wright: “Well, I’m just here now to be a sounding board and help keep things on the level. So what have we got so far?”

She looked to Adonis, adjusting her glasses as her crimson lips curled up into a smile. Derek was in trouble.

Richards: “Right now we haven’t got a whole lot of anything figured out. We just know that Mr. Adonis’ act here is not the most wholesome, family-friendly act and that’s brought about a few complaints. We want to be able to put those complaints to bed while retaining the integrity of the KABLAM brand within SCW.”

Wright: “Okay…”

She held an open notebook on her crossed legs, dangling her hanging foot off the ground as she wrote some notes down. Derek leans over, trying to see what she was writing.

Wright: “Have we thought about any products geared specifically for younger people. I know the KABLAM-a-sutra and other products you have are more… adult in nature.”

She was understating it.

Wright: “But anything that would encourage younger people to support your brand?”

Adonis: “Uhhhhhh…”

She waves her hand, shaking his thought bubble away.

Wright: “We can work on that. Marketing strategies? Things to show that you’re a progressive brand and interested in people of all ages?”

Adonis: “Whoaaaa… Daddy doesn’t diddle! It’s one of the few rules of KABLAM!”

Both Richards and Wright glance to each other, and Portia nervously laughs.

Wright: “What does that mean?”

Adonis: “Well, I want people to know that KABLAM exists, yes, but I have no involvement in spreading the message to underage patrons. We’re like cigarettes in that way. VEEEEEEEEEERY phallic.”

Wright: “Okay… but what if… and stick with me here…”

She reaches out, placing a hand on Derek’s shoulder, which prompts him to shift uncomfortably.

Wright: “...it wasn’t?”

Adonis: “... Goooo oooooon…”

Wright: “What if you found a way to expand your product line so everyone could have something? Then as you transition from R to PG, it will be more of a natural fit.”

Adonis: “So like… what if the sex we talked about was…”

Wright: “What if you didn’t sell yourself on sex at all?”

Adonis shirks at the thought.

Adonis: “Well now you’re just crazy.”

Wright: “No… like, hear me out here. That’s what these groups of complainants have taken issue with. It’s all the sex talk. So what if you just took that and set it aside and used KABLAM as more of a life-affirmation thing… like you’re going to run head-first into your day! KABLAM!”

Richards: “She’s got a good point, Derek.”

Adonis knew she did. Stubbornly sticking to his point wasn’t going to win him any battles, nor did he have the mental sharpness to engage in defending the sexualization of his KABLAMpire. Still…

Adonis: “I don’t know…”

Wright: “What have you got to lose, really?”

Adonis: “Hmm… I never thought about it like THAT before.”

Wright: “Like what?”

Adonis: “Okay… we’ll test the waters. See where it goes. Who knows… it COULD let KABLAM survive for another 10 years.”

Richards: “You’ve been doing this for 10 years?”

Adonis laughs.

Adonis: “At LEAST! The KABLAM-a-sutra is my life’s work!”

Richards: “I don’t know if I should be impressed or sad.”

Wright: “Impressed. Definitely impressed.”

Adonis sits back beaming slightly, but also slightly nervous. He was about to be forced out of his comfort zone, a zone he had grown very comfortable in, and into an area that was very unlike him. One where his visit to Sesame Street over a year ago would actually be a pleasant experience not wrought with his attempts to get Elmo and Abby to hook up “finally”. Still, there was a certain daunting quality to what he was about to undertake… and how would others in his circle respond to it? How would Cookie feel? Or Beard? What would happen with Chesty LaRue and the KNN team? And of course the more Derek thought about it, the more in his head he became about it. His nerves grew…

What the hell did he agree to?

“Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to 2020!

I know… I know… King KABLAMpo has been awfully neglectful to his adoring legions of fans lately, but hey, I’m going to make it up to you! I can’t spill the beans quite yet, but I can tell you that this year is going to be the BIGGEST in KABLAM history! We are going to reach out beyond our usual comfort zones and embrace things you would have never EVER expected out of us! Because if there’s one thing we believe in at KABLAM labs, it’s that constant innovation and evolution is the way of the future! KABLAM!

BUT as much as I would love to just give you a full rundown on EVERYTHING we’re going to be rolling out this year, this is sadly NOT paid commercial time. If it was, believe me… you would have your credit card in your hand and your pants… um… still on. Yeah, that works. I’m here with the task of interesting you in watching SCW Breakdown this week. Yes, Man Mountain returns to action on the number one wrestling program on television! And I don't think anyone would disagree with me there. Seriously… IS there a program that offers as much for as many different types of people as Breakdown? And this week is a doozy, because what we're offering is Derek Adonis against Chris Cannon.

Wow… even saying that just gave me goosebumps.

You would think that a guy like me would be intimidated going into a high stakes matchup against someone like Chris Cannon. You just have to look at his record and you’ll see it… TWO former World Champions have shared their bed with him. That’s impressive. But I won’t be frightened! Oh no! I am Derek Adonis! Man Mountain! The TWO-TIME Champion of Television! I am King KABLAMpo, and I have the X taped over my belly button to prove it!

I’m not expecting an easy match. I’m not expecting anything out of this. I’m going to soak up every moment I have in the ring in front of the people… MY people… because I know that time may be fleeting. I know Chris Cannon will have some bad intentions for me. The only intentions I have for him is putting him in the position to put some smiles on the people’s faces.

And if that means letting him experience a KABLAM the likes of which he will never… E-E-E-E-E-EVER be able to replicate? Well…

So be it.

KABLAM!”

Family, no matter what you think about me, it’s the most important thing in life. It brings with it a whole range of emotions doesn’t it. Love, Hate, Sorrow, Joy and it also brings security, and safety because you know that deep down you have those who will support you no matter what happens. They are your family; your blood you share an eternal bond no matter how damming things might be. Families have arguments, they have wars they feud but what had happened lately with mine was none of that as far as I was concerned. Scott and Kelcey I didn’t see coming, I should have seen it, I should had expected it in all honesty…

So you could imagine my surprise when I received a call from my brother Michael, we hadn’t’ spoken in what felt like the better part of a year if that and since then, since everything that had transpired I wanted to hear what he had to say. It wasn’t a conversation worth holding over the phone, more one that was face to face and with that I agreed. Call it morbid curiosity if anything else, he gave me a location in Los Angeles, a bar of course.

Sienna: “Do you want me to come with you, Chris?”

I stood in front of a mirror buttoning up my black silk shirt while looking back at my fiancée’s reflection with a smile.

Chris: “It’s only Michael, it’s probably about everything. Scott and David have got to him and he wants to hear my side of things.”

Sienna: “Then I should definitely come with you.”

Chris: “But who will look after the baby? No, it’s fine Sienna. You don’t have to worry about anything, I got this covered okay?”

Sienna: “I do worry though, ever since that night at the lake house, I can’t help but worry Chris. I know what you said you were going to do to Scott and well…”

I finish buttoning up the shirt and begin to apply my diamond cufflinks and nod to myself. I understand why she would say that. I had to reassure her. She needed it.

Chris: “A lot has happened since that night; I’ve had a lot of time to digest it all. All this time SCW has fucked me over with these doctors saying that ‘m not medically cleared, it’s afforded me the chance to come to terms with what happened that night.”

I see a smirk appear on the edge of those beautiful lips of hers, that was music to her ears. She steps away from the bed and wraps her arms around my waist and slides around to face me while leaning against the mirrored door. She looks up into my eyes as I stare down into hers, it was another in a long list of perfect moments between us.

Sienna: “So you’re telling me you’re fine with Scott and Kelcey now?”

Chris: “I won’t lie and say I’m over it because I’m not. But long as he stays away from me, they stay away from us then there is nothing to worry about.”

Sienna: “With Nathaniel with us, they’ll never leave us alone fully. We both know she wants custody of him and she’s gonna be in SCW now...”

Chris: “Then she can get knocked up by Scott, she isn’t having OUR baby and as for SCW she better stay out of our way.”

That was music to her ears as I leaned in and kiss her on those luscious lips of hers. We embrace for a moment longer before breaking away. Parting they say is such sweet sorrow but after a few more words about what she had planned later that day. I left and stepped into my Aston Martin DB11 and headed off to the City of Angels. The drive to the bar was relatively peaceful on the roads, some light traffic but it would give me time to think about what I wanted to say to him when I got there. The last we really spoke he was with Lenore Price-Mason still and things were going strong there between em.

All things considered I was happy for him, he deserved to be happy you know and even though she was the cousin of the guy I hated with a passion, she at least wasn’t an idiot like the rest of that family. I imagined he would have a lot of questions for me given the latest happenings, the more I thought about it the more I felt maybe Sienna should be here with me for it. But as much as I thought I’d want that to be, I knew it was better for me to be alone. This was a family conversation after all.

After parking the car across the street, I head to the bar in question, stood outside is a woman who turned out was the bouncer if that was ever a thing. She did look mean though as stood up to welcome my approach.

Bouncer: “Well I knew you Cannon’s had good genes, but Jesus Christ… Almost tempting to make me bat for the other team again…”

I smirked a little while approaching and nodding appreciatively.

Chris: “You should have seen our old man, take it Michael Is inside?”

She nods.

Bouncer: “Sure is, go on down. He hasn’t been waiting long.”

Chris: “Thanks…?”

I left a lingering pause because I didn’t know their name. She caught on and answered all the same…

Bouncer: “You can call me Vasquez.”

Chris: “Nice to meet you Vasquez.”

She nodded before going back to looking at her phone as I walked into the bar, there was a stairwell that headed down and the further I walked the more I could smell the mixture of tobacco and alcohol. Wasn’t the greatest of bars but it was one I guess out of the way of prying eyes which I suppose was a plus. After stepping through another set of doors, the atmosphere certainly changed. There were a few people sat around, it was still early in the day for this place, I guess. They looked up and then went back about their routine of alcohol consumption to make their lives seem better.

I could see Michael at the bar waving to me, she stepped away and walks up to me and gives me a big hug like long lost pals meeting for the first time in so many years.

Michael: “Well shit you actually came, I begun to have my doubts you would mate.”

Chris: “Well I did consider it.”

Michael: “Well I’m glad you decided against that. C’mon on over, what you having? Beer? Whiskey?”

Chris: “Get me an Ice Water.”

He looked at me like I spoke a foreign language, I didn’t though. I only drank when I felt like it and I wasn’t in the mood, plus I had to think about Sienna and how that would look when she rarely drank these days.

Michael: “…You can’t be serious?”

I just looked at him and shrugged my shoulders. He sighed.

Michael: “Alright Ice water it is your majesty.”

And there it is, Sarcasm… I rolled my eyes and shook my head, he sees it and laughed out loud, he obviously had been drinking.

Michael: “Oh lighten up mate, take a load of your feet and relax. You’re so fucking uptight.”

Chris: “Yeah well you call me out of the blue and invite me out when we haven’t really talked in ages… Sorry, there hasn’t been much reason not to be uptight mate to be honest. There has been a lot going on.”

Michael: “I know, well I know about as much I guess others do if you read the dirt sheets or the news. You okay?”

Chris: “Yeah I’m fine, why wouldn’t I be?”

Michael: “I dunno, Sienna’s world tumbling down around her, yours doing the same… Can’t be easy mate.”

Interesting choice of words… I arched an eyebrow catching wind of how he said that…

Chris: “Our worlds aren’t tumbling down, don’t read too much into what you see in the news or read on dirt sheets it’s just other things...”

The barman gave me my bottle of water and Michael another drink. I finally decided to take a seat at the bar and looked at my brother, he looked good all things considered.

Chris: “So I imagine you didn’t invite me here to talk about dirt sheets and the news.”

Michael: “Straight to business… Okay I can do that; I’m worried about you Chris.”

Chris: “You’re worried?”

Michael nodded while taking a sip from his beer.

Michael: “Yeah, did you think I wouldn’t be? I mean I get it; I do but let’s be honest all this the last year almost, it isn’t you... Not really mate. You are attacking people, making threats, letting your career go down the shitter and…”

I sighed and put the bottle back onto the bar and stepped away from it, was beginning to think Sienna should have come here with me now...

Chris: “I see… Is that what you think of me? That I’m what, not myself? That Sienna has probably somehow brainwashed me? Is that what you believe, Michael because that’s how it sounds.”

Michael: “You said it not me mate.”

Chris: “It’s what you’re thinking though, I’m guessing Scott or David got to you or maybe even Kelcey, the Streets and everyone else maybe even a Mason… That makes more sense now that I think about it.”

Michael nods a little taking what I said in only to then look over my shoulder, I was thrown off guard by what he had said that I didn’t think to check my surroundings in the mirror behind the bar. I sighed knowing I should have known something was up the moment he called me… Ignorance truly is bliss…

It was Scott and David who stood behind me, those who were drinking in the bar had decided to leave as if this was all part of their plan… I spun around and laughed with Scott inches from me…

Chris: “You remember what I said at your house, the last time we see each other because I do…”

David looked ready to interject as Scott stood there stoically with that smug look on his face…

Scott: “You said the next time you see me you’ll kill me. Well baby brother, now’s your chance.”

I felt that knot tightening in my gut once again, the blood beginning to boil as I continued to sit there with Michael to my left while David and Scott stood before me…

Chris: “Guess I should have gotten a stronger drink… Or brought an entourage of my own…”

Scott nodded and begun to walk around the bar and helped himself to a scotch, and poured one for me and David… Just being in the vicinity of my brother Scott made me want to leap the bar and kill him, but I was fighting ever fibre of my being to do that….

That wouldn’t help anyone…

Scott: “Here, drink this…”

Chris: “No thank you.”

Scott: “It isn’t drugged if that’s what you’re thinking.”

He took the glass he offered and downed it in one before pouring another glass of scotch… David sat at the bar and motioned for me to join them, I stood where I was…

David: “Have a drink Chris, it’ll help take the edge of things.”

Scott: “It would help, we just want to talk to you mate, that’s all…”

Michael: “Yeah, just want to talk…”

I laughed again now and shook my head, looking at all three of them in disbelief, their audacity was fucking astounding to be honest with you.

Chris: “You just want to talk… What would you like to talk about Scott? After everything I have ever done for you, you turn around and do the one thing I thought you never would… I mean we’re family and we argue, we fight, but not once did I ever stab you in the back like you did to me even after all these years. If not for me you wouldn’t even have a life over here in the United States, you’d probably be dead in a ditch somewhere in England.”

Scott: “Maybe, but that is something we’ll never know.”

Chris: “Keep talking and we might find out. Because what you’re ALL doing to me right now… David I expect more from you, you were always the smart one. A bloody doctor and you take his side, you take her side despite everything they did to me…”

David: “Chris, you need to calm down. It isn’t what it looks like okay?”

Chris: “The fuck you are talking about, it is exactly how it looks. You three are banding together against me AGAIN…”

Scott looked on from behind the bar and offered me the glass again, but I shook my head.

Chris: “I wouldn’t accept anything from you Scott, I know why you’re here. I know why they’re here to make sure I don’t do anything to you. But you don’t have to worry about that at all because you’re not worth trying to kill even though I would love nothing more than to do that. It is a conundrum I’ll give you that, but I have a family about so I can’t make the same mistakes you lot have.”

Michael: “What’s that supposed to mean?”

Scott: “It means…”

Interjected before he could finish…

Chris: “It means few things; one was most certain but you all here has made the choice a lot simpler than I ever imagined it would be. Michael, I wanted to give you a chance but you’re not better than them, you conspired with em and for what to hold intervention on my behalf? Like I have lost the bloody plot?! No, I see very clearly, my eyes are open, and I haven’t felt like this in a bloody long time… It’s freeing to be honest with you.”

David: “What are you talking about, Chris?”

Scott: “I’ve seen that look before…”

I smirked knowing Scott understood what I was trying to say if they never…

Chris: “Good, you can explain it to em later than when we’re finished here because once I leave that is it. You three were meant to be my protectors in life, you were supposed to look after me as a kid, I was always considered the runt of the litter but standing here before you I realize I was never the runt. You picked on me lot back then because you knew was the best out of all of us, I still am to this day.”

Scott: “Debatable… That was tough love back then, built character. Some more than others Chris, god knows you made your many mistakes back then which we covered for you, you’re no angel no matter how you want to pretend to be.”

Chris: “I made no mistakes…”

Thinking on that more I shook my head and waved my finger having had a thought…

Chris: “Scratch that, I made two mistakes… one was believing Kelcey and I would be together forever despite everything thrown at us. The other was thinking us lot are a family.”

David: “That’s just it, we are family.”

Chris: “No we’re not, we never were family. We were obligations to each other, you lot did your thing I did mine, its how it is, how it was and how it’s always going to be. The only thing linking us together is the fact we share the last name and have the same blood running through our veins and let me tell you, if I could change the latter… I would.”

Michael: “Oh c’mon you don’t mean that.”

Chris: “Not surprised you believe that Michael you were always the most gullible, but it’s fine. You live in your little bubble where you believe that cunt there has your best interests at heart when really he is only keeping you close because you don’t see him for what he is.”

Scott: “Is this how it’s going to be, you’re not even going to give it a second thought Chris?”

Chris: “I gave this many thoughts, I have had a lot of time to think about this I have and everyone has come down to the same conclusion you three are all fucking poison and I want nothing more to do with it or with any of you. I am done with this fucking family once and for all.”

Scott laughed as he finished another glass and shook his head, he wasn’t accepting what I was saying but he had to really, I wasn’t giving him a choice.

Scott: “That isn’t how this works mate, no matter what you think or say we’re always going to be here for you. You can’t get rid of us that easy.”

Chris: “Scott, seriously I am telling you now. You want to fuck Kelcey, that’s fine. You want to start a new life with her. That is fine too. You want to try and take MY baby from me, you won’t win. You want to believe this is still a family, it isn’t you deluded fuck. We’re the farthest thing from a family now. I don’t’ want any of you in my life ever again. I won’t say this again, next time I will make sure you all regret it.”

I meant every word before I turned around and started to walk away, I wanted to say more but then I’d be there all day and I didn’t want to stay in their presence any longer. I had more important people to see, people who loved me and respected me for who I was and not this image they felt I had become… As I walked out Vasquez was still there on her phone and before crossing the road to head back to the car I stopped and looked back at her…

Chris: “Did you know those two would be coming?”

Vasquez: “Who?”

Chris: “My brothers Scott and David.”

She pondered a moment and shook her head.

Vasquez: “Look man, I just work here I don’t know shit other than how to punch someone in the face if they get rowdy. You lookin’ to get rowdy man?”

She could obviously sense my tone; I wasn’t still but nod my head accepting that answer…

Chris: “No, but I might be able to use someone like you if you enjoy punching people in the face.”

Vasquez: “Oh?”

Chris: “I’ll be in touch, keep this between us yeah?”

She nodded and goes once again to looking at her cell as I headed back to my car and in turn ignited the ignition and begun to drive out when I see Scott, David and Michael now having left the bar and watched as I sped by without giving them a second glance. My destination was home where the love of my life, my angel and my son waited for me with warm smiles…

Sienna however could tell something was wrong as I went straight towards the bar and poured myself a drink…

Sienna: “What happened…?”

Chris: “Scott happened… He was there.”

Sienna: “What…? Are you okay? Did they touch you… Did you touch him?”

Chris: “No I didn’t and neither did they, all they wanted was to talk… But I ended up doing the talking… Told them some hard truths, let em know that I wanted nothing more to do with any of them.”

Sienna took pause for a moment and looked at me intently, Little Nathaniel watching us both with a smile… Felt like he understood what I was saying and agreed with me…

Sienna: “So what are trying to say Chris?”

Chris: “They aren’t my family no more Sienna; you and Nathaniel and Christian are… I know we’ve put it off for a while, we have had a lot going on, but I think we should finally set a date for the wedding… Because I know they will be coming to get this little guy from us, and I will not let that happen. He is OUR son and I want to make you my wife officially.”

Sienna: “Are you sure…?”

Chris: “Aren’t you?”

Sienna looks at me and doesn’t hesitate as a tear rolls down her cheek, her smiles beams with radiant beauty which was infectious enough to have me do the same…

Sienna: “Of course, I just didn’t want to pressure you into anything… But of course, I want to set a date… I want what you want more than anything.”

Chris: “Then we will do it, the sooner the better. Then we take control of everything from here on out. Trios was just a start. Retribution and the World Championship will be next.”

Sienna: “It will, and it’ll only be the beginning my love…”

We shared a kiss.

Chris: “And they won’t get this little guy, it’ll be over my dead body.”

Sienna: “And mine… This is our family.”

Chris: “Yes, the only family I’ll ever need from now on…”

That was music to her ears, to be honest after everything it felt like music to mine as well. I have spent so much time hung up on my family, my brothers that I never really thought about myself. It was the same while married to Kelcey, I put her first over myself but with Sienna I could sense it was different. She wanted me to be the best version of me, the man she had always seen…

That was a welcome change.

You could say she saw the real me from the very beginning and I guess SCW and the rest of the world was about to get a taste soon now that I had been medically cleared…

To Be Continued…

Vs. Derek Adonis

The sound of the boos from that crowd was music to one’s ears, the reality that all was lost for their champion at Retribution was one they didn’t hope would come to fruition. The odds were heavily stacked in our favour for once, how it should be given how poorly they had treated not only Sienna but me as well. The hoops Sienna had to jump through to defend her World Championship was grounds for a vote of no confidence in how Sasha was running this company. I could only imagine her face when she found out that the board accepted the contract. If she had her way it wouldn’t be worth the paper it was printed on but, there were obviously those higher up that believed we had every right to do this.

I didn’t know for sure, but It was something to find out closer to Retribution should time permit. As of now my current opponent to think about… Unfortunately. I let out a sigh as I look at the camera, I sat in an antique chair dressed to the 9’s in a three-piece suit which fit me to perfection. In my hand I held a coin which I flipped with my thumb into the air and caught one the way down. Sienna and Xiomara stood behind the camera as I sat there in thought about the man I would be facing. It was enough to make me shake my head as the light turned red…

My big return to SCW was this…

[Rec.]

Chris: “I would like to begin this on a positive note, one that might come as a surprise to you all including the love of my life who stands behind this camera and our manager who stands beside her. I want to congratulate the three of you who won the Trios tournament a week ago on Sunday. I congratulate you all because we all know just how powerful that contract can be. We have seen in the past just what is possible with Ace using his to make the End of Year Show Battle Royal what it was that one time. Or Kellen Jefferies using his to gift the world of SCW a shot at my soon to be wifes world championship…”

I nod my head while thinking about both those moments…

Chris: “We’ve seen many people use it to steal the spotlight from would be champions at Rise to Greatness. THAT is usually the go to for most people and I wouldn’t be shocked in the slightest if David Helms did just that in some way shape or form. But that was then and is then for now the thought is all about what is happening soon when Sienna and I face James Evans in the Thunderdome. A night that is going to be glorious let me tell you when Sienna regains that SCW World Heavyweight Championship. But before that happens, we have Breakdown to think about… We have a number of Breakdowns to consider don’t we…”

I take a deep sigh while thinking about just that… I had a lot to consider given the nature of my opponent, who that was…

Chris: “Despite everything, I believe Sasha knew what she was doing when she walked out to interrupt us on the last breakdown before the Trios… When she informed us all that SCW’s doctors had finally after ALL this time decided to medical clear me, well it came as no real shock to me because my doctors have cleared me for months on end. This was just another level of how vindictive our boss really is and all of you lap it up like sheep. You listened and accepted everything she said and took it as gospel… I’m guilty of that as well of course… I’ve been down that road…”

Chris: “I’ve listened to that woman harp on before, bought into her bullshit and what did it get me? No where that is because once begun to realize just how full of shit she was that was when she begun to formulate her plan to screw me over and over and over again… So much so that plan is still very much in effect isn’t it… She stands in my face on Breakdown and has the audacity to tell me that I am in a main event match upon my in ring return. That was music to my ears, here with so many returns to SCW lately I thought maybe It would be against Lucas Knight? David Helms? Jason Helms maybe… Hell maybe even a Selena Frost or Regan Street or someone else worth my time.”

Chris: “Story of my life lately isn’t it, being denied seven months of a championship match I had EARNED by taking on all comers and beating them. Then the one moment I lose amatch, we get someone like Owen Cruze getting a shot a title match? We see others handed opportunity left and right and you people wonder why I got so angry? It’s easy not to see something when you’re not the one being overlooked… And even now, to this day I still am being overlooked, I am being insulted by our boss because of who I face… I imagine Sasha that you’re proud of this one, when you thought of the card that you believed this would be good for a laugh…”

I shake my head as once again I flip the coin in my hand and catch it, now though I stand away from the chair and chuckle a little myself…

Chris: “So this is how its going to be… Very well Sasha, I’ll play your game for a little longer but unfortunately I am going to changes the rules just a little… You see Derek you are a pawn, a tubby pawn that our esteemed boss sees as expendable. You offer very little risk because well to be honest it’s shocking you still have a career here which is probably down to the fact your wife is far more popular than you ever could be on your own. But that’s okay, the world needs people like you. It needs its jesters to make others feel better about themselves. God knows with everything going on around the world at the moment, it could use a little pick me up I suppose.”

Chris: “But it isn’t going to be at my expense Derek, I am making that abundantly clear right now. I understand you’re a former multi time TV Champion. You can throw that in my face if you want, it won’t help you. There is a lot you can say probably but none of it is going to do you have anything favours honestly. I never liked you or your Schick. Those fan’s might appreciate you and your wife, but they don’t know what they actually want these days. It’s why people like me or Sienna need to show them exactly what it is they want and tomorrow night, I’m going to show them a glimpse when you and I stand that ring together…”

I look to the camera and make it known I want everyone watching to pay close attention to what I have to say next…

Chris: “You see I have been waiting for months to get back into wrestling. Waiting patiently as much as I could, watching this company screw over Sienna over and over again and each time she over come the odds it threw more at her. I had to watch and now that I am back, you’re all going to pay for what Sasha has done. Derek you’re going to pay for what Sasha has done. She has put you in a situation that there is no escape from. Like a lamb she has basically led you to the slaughter, and I get it. You’re the man mountain. You’re this fun-loving guy who just wants to KABLAM his way in life. You didn’t ask for this match, you probably realize now how fucked you are and want out.”

Chris: “There is no out for you Derek. There isn’t an out for any of you. You have gone by the name the Man mountain since the beginning of your career is my guess. I know it’s an innuendo, it’s all fun and games, etc etc etc. I know you’re torn about this match because on hand you’re in a main event of breakdown and that is something to be excited about but when this match is over with, if you can call it that... The only thing left of the idea you’re a Man mountain will be the mole hill you become at the heel of my boot. I won’t apologize for what happens next, this is on your Sasha I want the world to understand that. What happens to him, is on you and you alone. I hope you’re ready.”

A smirk appears on my lips now, I feel it and nod as I once again flip the coin and catch it. Sienna grins from ear to ear as does Xiomara who hits stop on the camera. I wasn’t going to let that bastard Derek get the better of me on my return, I was going to beat him and do so to send a message to the roster but more importantly than that, Sasha herself.

A message that the shift of power was changing to our favour, we were going to take back all they have tried to take from us and we’ll do it on our terms…
