Priness of Wrestling | Giovanna Steward | "A Night to Remember or Not"
It was all a haze at that moment. Gigi picking herself up and looking over at Katie. The ringing in her ears drowns out the noise in the arena that’s going absolutely insane right now. Gigi stumbles a bit trying to get a handle on reality, but everything is so surreal. Katie leaps across the ring throwing herself at Gigi and locking her in an iron vice of a hug. Gigi can hardly breathe. The hold is that tight. Gigi’s hand taps on the back of Katie repeatedly hoping Katie would release her from the hug. It’s not until the referee taps Katie on the shoulder that she lets go of the hug and Team Desire are rewarded their prize. The SCW Tag Team title belts.
Gigi holds the title in her hands, but the foggy haze doesn’t dissipate. She still can’t believe it. She’s been focusing on this moment all week. Pushing herself to make sure that it was going to happen. To finish this journey. To call herself a champion again.
Gigi followed Katie backstage. Katie outpaced through the guerilla area following TJ as he led Katie to her awaited press conference. Of course she did. Gigi did her best to hang back. She didn’t want to be a part of the media frenzy that was apparently on the other side of guerilla waiting for her. Or whatever internet bloggers Katie and TJ had rounded up to interview her.
She tiptoes around backstage to avoid moving forward. She notices Light in the Darkness backstage after the match. Gigi grips her title close. The emotions are still very powerful over her. Feeling very much like a dream. Katie might be long gone now, but she was still here in the moment. Gigi walks over and shares her moment with Amelia and Luz. They were all there for such an amazing match. They fight back the tears and congratulate Gigi and reassure her she’ll make a good champion.
Gigi leaves guerilla and turns to her dressing before she remembers Katie holding a press conference on the other side of the room. Gigi stops and turns her head towards a stage where Katie is sitting with TJ fielding questions from the few people sitting in the crowd.
“So you just dip your fingers into the cream and then smear it over the skins and you too can have flawless skin.” Katie smiles at the person with damaged skin in the crowd.
“Uh thanks, but I was asking what your goals were now after reaching such an untouchable milestone.”
“Well, you’re welcome.” Katie smiles at them very pleased with herself that she gave some very wise words of wisdom to help them in need. Katie turns her head and notices Gigi show up. “Gigi! Come on over and join us.”
“I… I’m busy. I got people to call…” Gigi tries to find an excuse to be somewhere else. She should know better. Katie insists on her joining the table. It won’t take long.
Gigi reluctantly walks up to the stage and places her tag title belt on a standee and joins Katie at the table. She smiles at the small crowd that Katie had hand picked to bring here and says “Hello” to them.
“Gigi, how does it feel sharing such a moment in SCW History with your mother?” The pretty woman in the front raising her pen up and asking the question.
“I still can’t believe it. We were more determined now than ever before and as good as Light in the Darkness is, we weren’t going to lose this opportunity and we didn’t.” Gigi takes a breath. Fighting back the emotion she’s been feeling since she won tonight to get her sentence out.
Katie claps her hands pleased and happy with Gigi’s comments. “I love it. We were the better team tonight. It has all the makings of a Hollywood movie. We’ll definitely be taking a lot of notes. My 20th year at SCW is going to be even more momerial than my 19th. It’ll be amazing.”
Katie continues to field questions from the people in the crowd. Gigi has her chance and she stealthily slides her belt off the standee and sinks away from the stage.
Gigi has made it from the ring, through guerrilla, through Katie’s press conference and now she’s finally on her own. She heads to her dressing room. Gigi gets out her phone and scrolls through her messages reading the congrats and celebratory texts that she’s getting. Gigi isn’t waking up from this dream anytime soon.
Gigi calls Maddy on her phone. While she waits for an answer she overhears a ringing coming from inside the dressing room. Gigi lifts up her head and looks around. She stands up and ends her call on the phone. Looking around for wherever the ringing was coming she said, “Ok, where are you hiding?”
Maddy and Ash step out from behind a wall. Maddy, having the biggest grin on her face, rushes over and hugs her.
“How did you guys get across the country so fast?” Gigi says in shock at seeing her friends just showing up out of nowhere.
“Sasha got us some plane tickets and flew us out for the show.” Maddy explains to her. “So we can all go on the victory tour to Disney World.”
“This is amazing.” Gigi laughs. “But, what would’ve happened if I didn’t win.”
“Then we would’ve been going to Universal Studios.” Maddy replies.
“Right, well it's a good thing that I won, I guess.” Gigi continues to laugh. Her smile will not go away. “I guess I’ll just get dressed and we can enjoy the night.”
“Good, because we’re in Miami and its nightlife is begging for a championship party.” Maddy announces doing a little dance looking for some fun. Getting the girls ready for a night on the town.

Out and about in Miami’s nightlife scene, Gigi and Maddy hang out in one of its clubs. Standing at a table, Gigi bobs her head listening to the club beats.
“I can’t believe you didn’t bring the title out with you. I’d probably be wearing it 24/7 if I had won.” Maddy commented on Gigi’s lack of accessories for the night.
“Well, I don’t want to lose it. I’m sure SCW would make me pay for it if I did. I really don’t want to be known as the girl who lost her newly won title belt. Then making a plea on social media for its return.” Gigi nods. “I think leaving it back at the hotel room was the right decision.”
“I think I would probably risk it.” Maddy nods her head. She would totally show off her jewelry. “Where is Ash with our drinks?”
Maddy turns her head looking over at the bar. Gigi points her out for Maddy to spot. A few guys were hanging around her while she got her order taken care of.
“Probably wasn’t the smartest choice to send the one of us that’s actually a Goddess to get our drinks. Though we’re also probably getting them for free, so.” Gigi watches Ash bring their drinks back to the table.
“So what did I miss?” Ash asks.
“Just wondering why Gigi decided not to show out her new jewelry tonight. Though I guess having the excuse of bringing a cute guy back to the hotel to check it out isn’t that bad of an excuse.” Maddy winks in Gigi’s direction like yeah that’s totally what she was planning on doing.
“I was not at all thinking of doing that.” Gigi flat out announces to Maddy that is not happening.
“So if nothing is going to happen does that mean things are going well with the boyfriend?” Ash asks Gigi.
“It’s like I said. It’s nice.” Gigi answers. “I really like hanging out with him and doing the whole gaming thing. Now that I’m a champion with Katie. I’m going to need that balance so much.”
“That’s good, G. We’re happy for you. Finding success professionally and privately. For the rest of us, the night is still young and we’re here to celebrate.” Maddy grabs her drink and toast it with Gigi and Ash. They all take a sip and have some fun celebrating Gigi’s big night of being a champion.

The next morning Gigi finds herself waking up in her hotel bed to a buzzing sound from the downstairs lobby. Gigi rolls around to find someone under the blankets and having a head full of rocks after a night of drinking. She is horrified to reach over and pull the blankets off of Maddy.
“Oh Thank the Goddess.” Gigi sounded so relieved. Though the buzzing sound is not something she is enjoying. She grabs the phone to tell the front desk to send whoever up to their room. Gigi gets out of the bed and grabs a bottle of water from the mini fridge and drinks it. Ash is asleep on the couch in the corner of the room.
Gigi hears the knock on the door and goes over to answer it. Sasha D. walks into the hotel room. She looks at Gigi holding the ice cold bottle to her head.
“So I’m guessing Disney World is off for today?” Sasha asks GIgi to survey the hotel room.
“Is it? I’m sorry, Sasha.” Gigi walks over to the hotel bed and sits back down.
“I would ask for what happened last night, but I think I’d already got my answer.”
“Well they wanted to celebrate with me last night and with Ash’s ability of acquiring free drinks from the guys we kind of went a bit overboard… wait, what did you mean by you already know?” Gigi questions Sasha looking at her and seeing a smile that disturbs Gigi.
“Well it’s nothing too serious. Just some videos posted on social media last night.” Sasha hands her phone to Gigi with the videos already cue up. “We understand. You were just having some fun after such an amazing night. Nonetheless I came to check in to see how things are going.”
“Maddy was to experience the Miami nightlife and I guess it got away from us. It won’t happen again.”
“Good. Now for the punishment.” Sasha lowers her head about to lay down the sentencing.
“What?” Gigi sounding horrified? “Am I being stripped of the championship?”
“No. The championship is good where it is, but you do need to get ready. We still got Disney World to go to. We have promotional shoots to do. Everyone is invited.” Sasha announced it to everyone in the hotel room. Waking the girls up from sleep. Getting them ready for another fun day because some theme park rides is the perfect cure.

A week has passed since winning the Tag Team titles and Gigi is still just waking up to the reality of it all being real. She is back in California now and at Katie’s church. Dressed in some overalls and a bandana on her head. She is part of the crew helping Katie clean up the mess that a fire caused. Gigi, Maddy and Ash all help out.
Gigi looks over and finds Katie talking with Dr. Evelyn Mercer, they’re mediator and therapist.
“That’s nice of Dr. Mercer to be here.” Ash says.
“Yeah. Wonder what they’re talking about.” Gigi questions her. Some thoughts creep into her head. She can’t help, but think it's about her.
“Come on, G. She’s here to help Katie through this. You know what Katie’s church meant to her. Dr. Mercer is here to help.” Ash explains.
“Yeah. That it was just an accident. Not part of some vigilante shit by conservatives and the GOP and their war on women.” Maddy adds.
Gigi nods her head knowing that they are probably right. It’s at least good to see Katie getting some help for her mental health. Even if it means not fighting conservatives. Katie is still proud of Katie. Now that they’re tag team champions. They’ve got to be stronger than ever. For their future.

“A couple of weeks ago was the most amazing night of my life. Even though the rest of the night is still a little fuzzy. I still remember that match. I still remember what I did. Me, keeping my promise to Katie and helping her finish her quest. Now I turned my attention to my own personal quest. I earned myself a lot of confidence then and I ‘m going to use every bit of it in causing lightning to strike twice. Winning the Television Championship is a great way of taking that next giant leap up the ladder. Maybe it might not be the best decision to do it while a Tag Team Champion, but again a couple of weeks ago I proved that I don’t make the best decisions. Also not entirely unprecedented. I got my last shot against Luz’s when she was both TV and Tag champ. What can we say? Everyone loves a little bit of chaos.”
“Waylon Creek has arrived in SCW and he’s proven to be quite a fighting champion. Now he has an opponent that’s proven to be every bit of a fighter without an ounce of quit in this. A Steward won’t stop until she gets what she wants. What Gigi wants right now? I want to be the Television Champion. I want the taste of singles gold again. I’m running on the high of the biggest win of my career and I’m not going to slow down now. I’m going to give Waylon everything that I got. Just like two weeks ago. Gigi Steward will not be declined. Gigi Steward is on another level right now. Nothing is going to be sweeter than being dripped in gold.” -Gigi Steward.
