RE: Kandis & “The One” Kirsten Scott vs. Aisling & Colleen - TheOne - 07-02-2024

{NEHEMIA: Chapter Three}

Coming out of the "shrine" where Jake Starr and his "Brotherhood," or "Social Misfits," whatever they were, seemed to convene, I realized that there was something there that I had not scene... Especially when Pro entered the mix.

Yes... She was crass...

Yes... She was insincere with much of what Jake said...

But that is who Pro is.  Pro is someone who you have to look past the commentary on and realize what she is really saying to YOU, and in my case, ME!  And that was what I did.  I looked past the insensitivity with Jake.  I looked past the sarcasm.  And I heard what she was saying to me because she and I have formed something she never wanted to do, but is allowing at the same time.  Pro hates the idea of trust.  She hates the idea of someone actually looking out for her alter.  But she sees in me someone who is willing to do just what she does for her alter, for her as well.

And honestly... She hates it...

That's when I knew her even showing up meant she had an inkling that this was a move that needed to happen.  This was when I realized that Pro was all in, as much as she was casting doubt with her words.  And maybe, maybe, I'm wrong in all of this.  Maybe she is truly there to just placate me and placate the situation.  But if she is, she's fooled me, and I think in HER soul, she knows if I didn't see through the bullshit, I would have fooled her.  So instead, she decided to test ME, while shitting on Jake, and do so only to make sure I could see the reality of the situation.

And I did.

I heard what Pro was saying to ME.  I heard what others may have missed, and others may have interpreted as disingenuous.

And I understand why they may have felt that way.  I understand what she said on the surface, but I saw beneath it.  I saw what she was saying to me, and how it was my role to make a decision to go with what Jake was saying, without giving him the credit, or continuing where were going.  The challenge for me, however, isn't about believing them.  It's about conveying the message to the rest of my family.  It's about making them understand the sarcasm, and reading between the lines.  It's about me being the cipher between Pro and Emma, but more importantly, Hailey, when it comes to what is really going on in the grand scheme of things.

In a very discreet location, Kirsten calls Hailey and asks her to meet her, alone.  Initially, Hailey is hesitant and talks to Ethan about what is going on, and also does so with Emma.  Both, especially Emma, emphasize they do not know what is going on with what Kirsten is doing, but both, knowing Kirsten, assure her it cannot be for some form of nefarious manner.  They both insist she go and make contact with Kirsten, and try to figure out what is going on.

Hailey sighs, and nods.

She heads downstairs to her vehicle to head toward the location, very much out of the way of humanity.  She drives for roughly 20 minutes, before turning off onto a dirt road, coming to a stop with her headlights shining on Kirsten leaning on her vehicle, with her headlights shining back at her.

Hailey puts her car in park, shutting it down, and is quick to hop out and look at Kirsten directly.

Hailey Brooks: ... Alright I'm here, so what is this all about?

Before Kirsten can reply, from the shadows steps Pro beside Kirsten.  Hailey is quick to back back toward her car.

Hailey Brooks: Oh... So this is what it is?!  Well if we're going to fight, let's make it happen..

Kirsten can be seen staying stoic, as Pro laughs.

Pro: Alright, alright, calm down, kid.  We, I, whatever, aren't here to fight.  We have more important things in life than some kind of physical fight with you...

This is when Kirsten finally looks over at Pro and makes her first statement, still not moving from seated on the hood of the car.

Kirsten Scott: It's true... What can I say?

She looks back at Hailey.

Kirsten Scott: ... We asked you here for a bit of a "Come to Jesus Meeting" between the three of us.  Wny?  Because Pro was tired of me having doubts, and it then trickling down to you, especially about me as a person.  So I don't like that.  And I felt it was best we just nip it in the bud.  So WE... She and I... Are here to shed light on the situation as a whole...

Hailey pauses from her retreat, and instead begins to approach Kirsten.

Hailey Brooks: Alright... Continue...

Instead of Kirsten continuing, Pro is the one to continue the conversation.

Pro: Firstly, you can stop being a little bitch about this whole situation and trust your friend... And at the same time listen to me at the same time...

Hailey Brooks: Yeah well, bitch, that's not likely...

Pro: Heh... I like your spunk...

Hailey Brooks: You know nothing about the spunk I have...

Pro: Well I would say that's good then... Then you're in the right frame of mind for this adult conversation then... So now that you're in that mindset, I'd like you to grow a sak of nuts and get over all of this hostility before I come to you and make you...

Kirsten then makes her first movement, stepping in front of Pro and staring her directly in the eyes.

Kirsten Scott: Hailey is NOT the type to provoke, understand me?  She's the type to trust.  You were willing to give me a semblance of trust, and I asked you to give Hailey the exact same bit.  And if it goes south, I'll do what I need to, to protect my best friend...

Pro grins, but steps back reluctantly.  Looking back Hailey's way.

Pro: Relax, Hailey... No confrontation to be had here... Unless you make it warranted...

Pro looks at Kirsten, while still responding to Hailey.

Pro: ... In which case I handle my business accordingly...

Kirsten is quick to reply.

Kirsten Scott: Which there won't be... This is about the long term... Not the short...

Hailey continues to make progress forward toward the pair, showing a sense of trust.  Pro steps up to Hailey, unexpectedly, gritting her teeth as she speaks to Hailey...

Pro: ... You do know I trust nobody, but because she told me I should have a bit of faith in you, I am willing to give it a chance, even though I don't like it one fucking bit?  I see that she has a devout trust in you, and while that may be, I'm not stupid and I don't believe that trust in one of you should EVER equal trust in another.  So that means WE, collectively, have a massive gap to fill, here.

And I'll be clear, I know about this whole relationship thing you got going on, and I know it created some drama with Kirsten and Emma, and let's be real... That kid is as innocent as they come and has no agenda.  And if she is bothered by this, that says something.  So that means Hailey has a lot of work to do to instill, especially in me, trust, that you won't go into business for yourself.  Because if I am willing to back Kirsten in the long term, you're probably part of the picture, and I'm not going to just trust any bitch.  I don't believe anyone gives a fucking shit about me one iota.  Kirsten showed me that maybe I'm wrong, and I will forever hate her for it...

Kirsten, still leaning on the hood of the car, simply shrugs, while Pro continues.

Pro: ... So I guess all of this culminates with me having some responsibility to BOTH of you now.  And if I'm going to be part of this conglomeration of fuckery, especially if it includes Jake Starr of all fucking people, I expect you ALL to be extremely forthright with me about your personal agendas.  You, Hailey, can't be having your own little sexual fuck fest, and have it take precedence over both personal AND business...

Hailey quickly fires back.

Hailey Brooks: So you're fucking saying I can't have a personal life?

Pro: Are you deaf?  I said BOTH personal and business.  Your personal life is yours.  But if it crosses over into the shit I'm being asked to agree with Jake fucking Starr on, then there's a problem.  Because, I hate giving that asshole credit, but he and I agree on some of the business principles of this.  It's why he picked where he did.  Now it's up to you to grow a fucking pair and separate your personal life from THIS BUSINESS.  Because from everything I've heard and seen, you haven't learned jack SHIT.  And if you're going to be part of this, hell if I'm going to subject myself as well, then you get to learn this now, and learn it the hard fucking way.

Kirsten finally leans forward, and comes off of the hood of the vehicle, stepping forward and interjecting.

Kirsten Scott: ... She's right, Hailey.  It's true.  It's time we have boundaries and keep them set in stone.  You and Ethan, y'all can have a relationship, and it can lead to whatever it leads to.  But when it comes to this, Pro, Jake and I have a BUSINESS relationship.  And it's something you need to UNDERSTAND and ACCEPT, and stop reading into what it means on a PERSONAL level.  With you and Ethan, whatever that is is something Emma and I have to have a boundary that we cannot cross, and learn to accept in our PERSONAL lives, and not read into it either.

That means this is a give and take...

This is one of those times where we BOTH need to realize that our relationship is two-fold.  It's been that way since we met at The Compound, and I was alone.  You embraced me as a friend, and brought me along to show me a sisterhood that I had never seen.  You then expanded that to the second level where you helped me become "The One" and I ultimately brought you BACK into the fold, when I found you at that grocery store.  I didn't attack you.  I embraced you, at the time, as my mentor.  I didn't know how you felt about me more than that, but I soon realized the frienship was still there.  I didn't look at you as "The Prophets" had told me to, as a traitor.  I looked at you as WHO YOU WERE to me, and STILL ARE.  I saw my sister, the one I always wanted, and the one who embraced me from the start.  I saw a sister I never got, but who helped me see the light at the end of the tunnel.

And I still see the mentor who led us to ensure Emma AND Ethan were safely extracted to this day...

Pro again jumps in.

Pro: Great story... Can we move on?

Kirsten isn't having it with Pro's attitude at this moment.

Kirsten Scott: Stop... For once, can the sarcasm and understand sometimes feelings fucking matter...

Pro just shakes her head and rolls her eyes, letting our a sigh in the process.  This leads Kirsten to turn toward Pro and approach her from the side... Talking in a much lower tone to her, but directly in her ear.

Kirsten Scott: ... You know, I get it.  You get it.  You know, deep down in that soul of yours, feelings patter, and it's exactly why you protect your alter.  Hailey, Emma, Ethan, they're my alter, just not in the same way yours is structured.  So I'm doing what you do on a daily basis, right here, right now, and calling the bullshit on the carpet to get it cleaned up, and reasoning it all with reality.

The fact is, I trust you.  Whether you like it or not.  And this is my moment to prove it to you...

Pro turns her head slightly to make eye contact with Kirsten.

Kirsten Scott: ... I'll take that as an acknowledgement you understand.  Good... Now we are playing on an equal playing field...

Kirsten steps back and turns again toward Hailey.

Kirsten Scott: ... Hailey... You and I have always been there for one another.  We've seen the good and the bad TOGETHER.  We have FOUGHT BACK against what we felt was evil.  Now it's time to realize that the fight isn't just on one side of the equation, or something that hovers over us, whether it's in our personal lives, or a professional ones.  We have to respect them both.  We have to ACCEPT them both.  It's not as simple as it was, where it was, "us against The Compound," but it's more, "us against the WORLD..."

Pro smirks.

Pro: I kind of like that idea...

Kirsten continues.

Kirsten Scott: We have to separate business from pleasure.  We have to understand that we live two lives together, one in a setting that involves us living together, and being a family, and the other where we go out and fight a battle.  There are times that a grey area may arise, and it'll suck, but we cannot let EVERYTHING crossover between both worlds.  We have to be smart enough to try and keep everything separate and understand the bigger picture.  We handle personal shit at home, we handle business shit on the road.

This is your moment...

This is my moment...

Fuck it's all three of our moments...

It's our chance to define if we can make something bigger happen that will establish a LEGACY for us all.  And that's why this agreement was offered to me and I to a quick likening to it before you walked off.  This is OUR last chance to do this.  Otherwise, I'm going at it with Emma, and things are going to drastically change.  WE are all in, or WE are all moving on.  These are already entwined, and it's up to US to undo that, and make things right.  No more keeping anyone in the dark.

So it's now, or not at all...

Pro looks at Hailey with a stern look in her eye.

Pro: I may not care for you or trust you, right now, but you'd be dumb to not stop the bullshit, and take this deal...

Kirsten fires back.

Kirsten Scott: It's not a "deal..."

Pro looks at Kirsten, confused.

Pro: Oh?  Then what is it?

Kirsten looks at Hailey.

Kirsten Scott: It's a decision about family...

Hailey finally responds.

Hailey Brooks: Are you going to put restraints on my relationship with Ethan?

Kirsten simply shakes her head.

Hailey Brooks: Do you promise?

Kirsten Scott: As long as it doesn't cross boundaries, like I said, I will not do anything to stop you and Ethan from pursuing a future together...

Hailey sighs and looks at both with a simple response...

Hailey Brooks: Deal...

Her angree response leads to her simply walking back to her vehicle and jumping in, slamming the door, and peeling out as she backs out of the secluded area.  Kirsten watches and simply nods, whereas Pro throws her hands up and says, "Welp my job is done," before walking to her vehicle and leaving the location as well.  Kirsten remains simply thinking about everything that went down.  She hopes Hailey understands the seriousness of everything, and is willing to play ball, and work with her in making things right for the long run.

She doesn't want a split of their family, as it could create a rift between brother and sister, which is the antithesis of what she wants.  She hopes there is just a lot of pent up frustration, that will lead to an understanding in the long run of what they all need to learn in order to make this "bigger picture" come to fruition.
