Things have not gone well for Clyde Sutter since his return to SCW. Despite being more controlled and focused, The Harbinger of Fate still has been unable to gain any real traction within the promotion. Even in the recent Underground Title Match where everyone had an opportunity, everyone was gunning for the gold, Sutter himself could not even gain one fall to win even one reign as champion. His fiance Melinda and her sister Fiona are far more upset than he is; they definitely would have enjoyed a reign as Underground Champion and they are definitely upset at being unable to claim the SCW World Tag Team Championship. Yet Sutter himself seems unbothered by the group’s lack of progress. Then again, The Assassin is entirely convinced that Fate is in control. Sutter is convinced that he is doing Fate’s will and that, at some point, he will be rewarded for doing the will of Fate. In fact, his patience may soon pay off in the form of the SCW Television Championship. The Assassin will challenge Colleen Macdonald for the gold on the Spring Break edition of Breakdown.

First, before The Assassin can turn his focus to taking the Television Title from Colleen, he must take care of deeply personal family business. His sister, Lilith Sutter, has been harassing him constantly, frequently, in an attempt to partner up with him. Clyde wants nothing to do with his sister due to the fact that she has dipped her feet into organized crime. While Clyde is no stranger to crime, he has abandoned his criminal past and wants to go straight. Yet Lilith insists that she, too, has changed, that she too has left her criminal past behind. While Clyde is still skeptical, there is one other piece that has forced his hand, that is forcing him to confront his sister and at least consider what she has to say.

Lilith claims to have knowledge about their father.

Clyde never knew anything about their father, a mysterious figure known as Ethan Sutter. He has heard rumor and innuendo but nothing substantiated with fact. Curiosity has gotten the best of Clyde and he feels he must know for certain where he came from and what, if anything, that has to do with who he is today. How has his father shaped him?

The dining room of Lilith Sutter’s mansion was the kind of space that had been designed not simply for meals, but for presence. The ceiling rose high above the table, framed by elegant molding that traced the edges of the room with understated precision. A chandelier hung at the center, its glass pieces catching the warm light and scattering it gently across the polished surfaces below. The glow was soft rather than harsh, lending the entire room a sense of calm refinement. Tall windows lined one wall, their heavy curtains pulled back just enough to reveal the darkness outside. Beyond the glass, the grounds of the estate stretched into shadow, faint garden lights marking the path of stone walkways and manicured hedges. Inside, however, the room felt insulated from the outside world. The air carried the subtle scent of prepared food and polished wood, a quiet mixture that suggested both hospitality and formality. At the center of the room stood a long dining table crafted from rich dark wood, its surface smooth and reflective under the chandelier’s light. Each place setting had been arranged with meticulous care. Fine china rested atop neatly pressed linen, silver cutlery aligned with mathematical precision. Crystal glasses stood waiting beside folded napkins that had been shaped with quiet elegance. A series of low centerpieces ran along the middle of the table, delicate arrangements that added color without overwhelming the space.

Lilith Sutter sat at the head of the table, her presence commanding without effort. This is where she belonged. Her black hair framed her face in smooth waves that caught the warm light of the chandelier. She carried herself with the kind of composure that suggested complete control over her surroundings, as though the entire room had been shaped to suit her sense of order. Her attire reflected that same elegance. She wore a long evening dress in a deep, luxurious shade, the fabric falling gracefully along her form with a natural fluidity. The design was sophisticated and restrained, emphasizing refinement rather than extravagance. Across the table sat her brother; The Assassin himself Clyde Sutter. His presence brought a different energy into the room. There was a quiet intensity about him that did not compete with the elegance of the setting but existed alongside it. He was dressed in formal attire suited for the occasion, despite his desire not to wear it. A well tailored suit rested neatly across his broad shoulders, the dark fabric contrasting subtly with the crisp dress shirt beneath. The shirt was immaculate, its collar pressed sharply, its cuffs aligned neatly beneath the sleeves of the jacket. Seated beside him was Melinda Braddock, whose presence brought a sense of graceful warmth to the table. Her almost platinum blonde hair had been styled carefully, falling neatly around her shoulders and catching the chandelier’s light with a soft shimmer. She wore an elegant dress chosen with the same attention to detail that defined everything else in the room. The fabric flowed smoothly, its design both refined and feminine. It fit her comfortably while maintaining a polished silhouette, the color complementing her complexion and the subtle brightness of her hair.

The table between them held the quiet signs of a meal in progress. Plates rested before each of them, the food arranged with the kind of care expected in a home where elegance was second nature. The crystal glasses reflected the chandelier above, their surfaces catching fragments of light that danced across the table’s polished wood. Around them, the room remained still and dignified. The walls displayed tasteful artwork framed in dark wood, pieces chosen to complement the room’s palette without overwhelming it. A large cabinet against one wall held carefully arranged glassware and serving pieces, each item placed as though it were part of a curated display.

“I am so glad you could join me, brother.” Lilith says. She turns her attention to Melinda. “And I am pleased you brought Melinda with you this evening.”

Melinda Braddock’s gaze remains ice cold as she stares down Lilith. Braddock hasn’t forgotten the derogatory things Lilith said about her to Clyde. Still, Lilith insists that she is trying to make things right, for the benefit of everyone. If Clyde is willing to give her a chance, Melinda Braddock will have to grin and bear it.

“We were in Birmingham, visiting my home. We happened to be in town” Clyde states.

“Oh is that so?” Lilith asks, sounding rather skeptical. Clyde nods his head.

“I have a championship match coming up in a little over a week, for the SCW Television Championship, against Colleen Macdonald. It makes sense that we might stop by at my beloved’s family wrestling school and train for this all too important match.”

“Ah yes, SCW. Your professional wrestling career.” Lilith smirks knowingly. “How has that gone for you? Specifically, how has your SCW return fared?”

“If you are asking about petty, materialistic things like championships and such then I admit it has not gone well. But of course that can change on Breakdown when I destroy Colleen.” He shakes his head. “Still, I do not do this for my own personal glory. I do it for Fate.”

“There it is, Fate.” Lilith chuckles softly. “Do you truly believe that you do everything for Fate?”

“Yes.” Sutter states cooly. “Are you here to insult me or have an honest discussion?”

“I would never insult you, dear brother.”

“It sure sounds like you are insulting him.” Melinda chimes in. She wants to speak up more, defend her man, but Clyde holds up a hand to signal to her that she should remain silent, that he has this under control.

“Lilith, sister, my beloved and I are more than happy to join you here this evening. But we will not be insulted.”

“I am not insulting you and I, too, want an honest discussion.” She winks. “Just as long as we both have an honest discussion.”

The balance of the dining room shifted slightly as movement appeared at the far end of the space. A pair of servants entered with practiced coordination, their presence almost silent against the polished floor. They moved with the kind of quiet efficiency that suggested long familiarity with the house and its routines. Nothing about their arrival disrupted the atmosphere of the room. Instead, it felt as though the rhythm of the evening had simply progressed to its next step. Both were dressed in formal attire appropriate for the setting. Dark, tailored uniforms fit neatly against their frames, crisp white shirts visible beneath fitted jackets. The fabric was immaculate, pressed so precisely that not a wrinkle disturbed the clean lines. Their shoes made almost no sound as they crossed the room, and their expressions remained composed and neutral, neither intrusive nor distant. Each carried a large serving tray balanced steadily in both hands. The trays held carefully arranged plates that released a gentle warmth into the air as they approached the table. The aroma followed them, subtle at first but unmistakable once it reached the center of the room. Rich, savory scents blended with the faint trace of herbs and seasoning, creating an inviting contrast to the quiet formality of the setting.

One of the servants stepped forward first, approaching Lilith at the head of the table. With precise, controlled motion, the plate was lowered smoothly onto the table before her. The porcelain dish itself was elegant, its surface glossy beneath the chandelier’s light. The food had been arranged with artistic care. Every element rested in deliberate balance, colors and textures placed thoughtfully across the plate. The second servant moved next toward Clyde, positioning the dish before him with the same careful attention. The plate settled against the linen with barely a sound. Steam rose gently from the food, carrying a richer scent now that it was closer. The presentation reflected the standard of the household, refined yet generous, suggesting both luxury and craftsmanship. Finally, the servants approached Melinda, placing her plate with identical precision. The motion was smooth and practiced, as though it had been repeated countless times within these walls. The delicate china reflected the chandelier’s warm glow as it was set into place, completing the arrangement before her.

Once the plates had been delivered, one of the servants returned with a tray of drinks. Crystal glasses were lifted and placed beside each setting with quiet care. The liquid within them shimmered faintly under the light, deep in color and clear in its surface. A second glass of water followed for each guest, condensation beginning to gather lightly along the sides. Throughout the process, Lilith’s dining room remained composed and dignified. The servants moved with unobtrusive grace, ensuring that every detail was in place without drawing attention to themselves. When the final glass had been set and every plate properly aligned, they stepped back in unison.

“Dinner is served.” Lilith says plainly.

“Is any of this poisoned?” Melinda asks sarcastically. Lilith chuckles.

“Poison? My dear Miss Braddock, my life of crime is behind me, but even when I was involved in criminal organizations, I would not use poison as my method of murder.”

“Sure…”

“Melinda.” Clyde says firmly yet gently. “We are guests and I trust my sister isn’t here to do us harm.”

“Whatever you say.” Melinda remarks skeptically. Lilith smirks triumphantly.

“Thank you, brother.”

“We are here for an honest discussion. Right, sister?”

“Correct, and I have been honest with you.” She points at her brother. “You need to be honest with me. You are not here just to prepare for this championship match against Colleen Macdonald. You certainly need to prepare, you haven’t had the best of luck in SCW lately. Fate has not been smiling upon you. You will need to be at the top of your game to win that championship. But you cannot do so here, not when the Braddock Wrestling School refuses you entry, despite your earlier claim.”

“Liar.” Melinda snaps back. Clyde again holds up a hand to signal for silence.

“Go ahead, Clyde, tell me I am a liar.”

“You are correct.” He admits. “I did not come here to England just to prepare for my championship match. My beloved’s family school would certainly deny me entry. We are here because I still want more information about our father.

“Honesty is always the best policy, brother.”

“Do not get cute with me.” Clyde’s voice grows louder as his anger starts to boil over. “I am here to get what you promised; information about my past.”

“Patience.” Lilith remarks. “All in due time.”

“I grow weary of your cryptic and your demands for me to wait.” Clyde states demandingly. “We visited the orphanage where I was left abandoned, where I grew up, and you revealed to me that I had been treated differently from the other children. Then we stop outside of a local pub to find a homeless man…some bum on the street…who knew our father. And the mere mention of the name Sutter brought fear to his eyes.”

“Yes.” Lilith smirks knowingly.

“You know more than you are letting on. You are keeping information from me.”

“I admit that I am keeping certain information from you, partially because I want to use it as leverage. If I tell you everything I have learned, you will leave. You will never speak to me again. This moment, this dinner, is an opportunity for me to bond with my brother and future sister in law. You are desperate to reconnect with your past? So am I. I will not let go of this information until we have properly bonded. So consider the release of the information a slow burn until I feel we have properly bonded.”

“What if I don’t want to bond with you?” Clyde snaps back.

“Too bad.” She smirks.

“Answer this…how did you get this information? Whatever it is you know about our father, how did you learn it?”

“I see where this is going.” Lilith sighs. “Yes, I admit dear brother, that I did use some of my former criminal connections to find this information.”

“I knew it.” Sutter states coldly. “You ARE still involved in organized crime.”

“I am not.” She denies the accusation, shaking her head fiercely. Melinda then chimes in.

“You literally just admitted to using your criminal connections!”

“I did.” Lilith nods her head. “But that doesn’t mean what I DID was CRIMINAL. What you see, this exquisite estate, the infrastructure, the organization, I merely INHERITED IT. I inherited it all and dismantled, over time, the violent, criminal element; but I kept the power.”

“You believe that somehow makes it justified?” Clyde asks.

“Right and wrong, good and evil, none of that matter, does it?” She smirks as she points at Clyde. “You believe in Fate. You have often stated that you believe Fate has written the script for all of us. It’s why your lack of progress in SCW doesn’t particularly bother you; you are convinced that Fate is in control and you are willing to be patient for Fate.”

“What are you getting at?” He demands.

“Perhaps Fate gifted me all of this. If Fate gives you a weapon, is refusing to use it moral or cowardly? That is what I offer you. Access to my resources, resources that can and WILL change your life, and potentially could change the trajectory of your wrestling career.”

“He’s not interested!” Melinda exclaims.

“I think my brother can speak for himself.” Lilith gazes at Clyde. “What do you think, dear brother? Sure, you could win the SCW Television Championship from Colleen. That would be quite an accomplishment. But it could also be the beginning of something far greater for you.”

“I will win the championship.” Clyde states defiantly. “But what I want more than anything is information about my father.”

“Perhaps I already did but you weren’t listening, you just weren’t paying attention.” Lilith snaps back cooly. “That’s always been your problem, brother. Despite your claim that you have improved yourself, you are still a hothead and impatient. Every single time we have met, including tonight, I have dropped another bread crumb that leads you closer to the truth about our father. I have left the puzzle pieces for you to put together.”

“Are you saying that this organization of yours…it belonged to our father?” Clyde asks. Lilith nods her head.

“I said from the moment I met you that this was your birthright.” She says plainly. “And I want you to join me, to be a part of it. You will have access to all of its resources and yes, you will learn even more about your past. I just want you to be my brother.”

There is a tense pause as Clyde and Lilith lock eyes. Melinda can tell that The Assassin is thinking about it carefully. Braddock shakes her head.

“Don’t fall for it.” She insists. “It’s a trap.”

“I am not deceiving you.” Lilith states. “I am being honest. I am not a criminal anymore.”

“So your organization and its resources, all of it is legal?”

“Completely.”

“I will take it under consideration.” Clyde remarks.

“Clyde!” Melinda exclaims. “You can’t be serious!”

“I am.” He nods his head. “You do not understand, this woman, my sister, is the only connection I have to my past.”

“Just like you are my only connection to my past, dear brother.”
