Syren & Selena Frost vs. Amelia Nevado & Gavin Taylor - Kemal Yilmaz - 04-09-2026 4 RP Limit for tag 3500 Word Per RP Deadline: 11:59:59 pm ET SATURDAY, April 11, 2026 RE: Syren & Selena Frost vs. Amelia Nevado & Gavin Taylor - Syren - 04-10-2026 First for this match. Enjoy. ![]() The Syren Song: Verse 425 "She’s going to be insufferable" RE: Syren & Selena Frost vs. Amelia Nevado & Gavin Taylor - Corner G - 04-10-2026 RE: Syren & Selena Frost vs. Amelia Nevado & Gavin Taylor - Wisteria Waltz - 04-10-2026 It was the day after Retribution, and Amelia could still feel the euphoria of last night. Despite all the doubts, all the questions, all the beliefs that she didn't belong or wasn't ready yet, she had proven everyone wrong. It wasn't the former World Champions like Glory Braddock or Shaun Cruze who had left Wembley Stadium as the number one contender to the World Title... it had been her. Amelia Nevado. She was getting another crack at SCW's top prize, and this time, there was absolutely no question that she had earned it. She struggled to decide on a point in her life recently when she'd felt more elated... maybe back when she won the Television Title all those years ago and became the first between her and Luz to hold SCW gold, or when the couple had finally become World Tag Team Champions for the very first time, or potentially even her wedding night and finally being able to call Luz, the very light of her life, her wife for the rest of their lives. Trying to pinpoint when she'd last truly felt this happy and realizing Luz was popping up quite frequently in her journey down memory lane, however, brought a sobering realization to her personal celebration. While Amelia had been successful at Retribution and was now one win away from finally being able to silence her most relentless critics once and for all, Luz had once again fallen victim to this bizarre curse that seemed to hang over the couple's heads at this pay-per-view. As much as she knew she should hate it, a part of Amelia—which she suspected was the jealousy being bred by that nagging critical voice in her head—felt glad that Luz had lost the U.S. Title and wouldn't be jumping right back after it for a rematch without earning another opportunity first. It felt like the opening Amelia needed to finally be able to flip the script and truly prove that when she said she was ever bit as good and deserving as Luz, she was telling the truth, and a World Title reign while Luz was recovering from this setback would make that clear. If anything was stronger than the jealousy over Luz's success and her own failures she'd been trying way too hard to bury lately, it was the utter horror over everything that Luz had endured during this trip to London. Amelia, at Luz's insistence as her attempt at a peace offering to mend the rifts that had been growing between them recently, hadn't watched the Thunderdome Match between her and Meghan so she could put her undivided focus on winning her match and becoming number one contender to the World Title. When it came time for her to head out for that match, the most Amelia knew was that Luz had gotten hurt pretty bad. She had shrugged it off, knowing her beloved had endured a lot and still found a way to keep fighting no matter the situation, and she found extra motivation in hearing Other Amelia add her own two cents to things and craving the chance to finally shut her up for once. Amelia had not been prepared to see just how mangled Luz looked when she headed to the trainer's room after her victory and saw Luz being transferred via stretcher from there to an ambulance. If there was any solace in Amelia's mind, it was that she knew her wife was at least getting superior and more affordable care than she probably would had this taken place in the United States. As much as she tried her best to ignore politics unless they began screwing with her life, she could attest from personal experience that her fellow Brits had everything figured out when it came to making sure people got the medical help they needed without having to be charged an arm and a leg for it. Despite the issues that had been slowly eating away at their relationship lately because of Amelia's frustrations, she still genuinely loved Luz with all her heart and hated to see her laying in a hospital bed looking like she had literally been thrown through a meat grinder. Even in her current mindset, at worst, Amelia would've only wanted Luz to lose her title so she could have a chance to balance the proverbial scales at long last and everyone could finally see that both halves of The Light In The Darkness were just as talented and capable as the whole. She would never wish to see Luz literally looking like Meghan had tried to make sure she could never wrestle again. And the worst part about it all? Without even watching a replay of the match, Amelia had a strong feeling a lot of Luz's injuries were as bad as they were because she kept fighting even long after any normal person would have thrown in the towel, and as much as she loved her wife's resilience, it was moments like this that reminded her of why Luz's own mother had been so hellbent on keeping her from following in her father's footsteps for so long. Unfortunately, that also reminded Amelia of the other big problem that had been haunting the couple like a wraith for far too long now... and almost could have led to the Thunderdome not even happening had she been just a second too late. Amelia shelved any frustration she wanted to direct towards Meghan Strader for mauling her wife within the confines of one of SCW's most dangerous structures, but she knew exactly where to redirect it to. After all, prior to Retribution, their found family had been attacked by whatever remnants still lingered of The Empire's splinter cell. Thankfully, to Amelia's relief, there were relatively few casualties and all of them had been red-cloaked figures pretending to be holy crusaders. 'Let's not forget that one of them died at YOUR hands,' Other Amelia felt it necessary to bring up at this moment. Amelia bit her bottom lip from where she sat in Luz's hospital room as her wife was currently sleeping off the last of the efforts to patch up the worst of her injuries. Deep down, she knew Other Amelia was wrong and she hadn't taken any lives, but even now, she still felt the icy shock running through her system that her adrenaline had overwhelmed in that moment. She had simply moved to stop the splinter cell member from putting a bullet between Luz's eyes after preying on her trauma over the death of their leader last year, and now it was a trauma they had in common. Even if they hadn't pulled the trigger or even touched the gun, people had died while dealing with them... even if they were so far gone that they honestly deserved it, Amelia and Luz had honestly been a little naive in hoping that they could weather the storm of The Empire in any form without having to feel like they were stooping to the levels of people like Caleb White or Stephen Crane or even her own parents. “I just want this all to end...” Amelia mumbled as she held her head in her hands. “No more senseless deaths, no more bloodshed... why can't it just be us working through our wrestling issues and that's it?” 'You mean YOUR wrestling issues,' Other Amelia prodded from the back of her mind. 'You know Luz will probably bounce back in no time... maybe even start racing you to see who becomes World Champion first.' Amelia scoffed and tried to tune her inner critic out, but Other Amelia wasn't quite done yet. 'Let me answer your question, though, with one of my own. Did you seriously believe that you were going to get out of dealing with this cult without casualties? You heard about what Caleb did to Luz's father, to his own brother. You know The Empire ended the life of that private investigator your mother hired before he turned on her to help you, as well as that vlogger who invaded your privacy on false tips fed to him by their elites.' “We've beaten Caleb without needing to seriously hurt or kill anyone...” Amelia quietly argued. “He's lost people without us needing to fight them, I overcame my parents without needing to claim their lives... Luz even beat the leader of the splinter cell without stooping to his level and someone else went and claimed Crane's life.” She didn't get a response from Other Amelia for a few moments and started to relax a little bit, believing she had made her point. Unfortunately, the inner critic eventually found something to reply with. 'You may have somehow made it this far without losing yourself, but you know as well as I do that the longer this goes on, the closer you step towards that edge. You're practically flirting with it already by not telling Luz about Paul being a spy this whole time... if you haven't already crossed the line by keeping her in the dark about who's sponsoring your efforts to finally prove something.' Amelia scowled but chose not to reply, instead attempting to tune out the voice in her head. She knew that keeping things from Luz was only doing more harm than good, and maybe she was selfishly trying to protect her in a way, but she wasn't a fool. If no one had put the pieces together already, then it was only a matter of time before everyone would know that Frank Delatosso had added her to the number one contender match after CHBK had tried to make it official without her. He had already called and texted her to try and get a jump start on promoting her World Title clash with Gavin Taylor for Hubris, and there wasn't a doubt in her mind that he was going to reveal that she had him in her ear when Breakdown broadcast live from Madison Square Garden. Even if she hoped Luz understood why she was treading this path, she knew the situation regarding The Empire's spy was much messier and Luz was only going get hurt no matter the outcome. It was bad enough knowing she wasn't going to react well to Amelia hiding such crucial information from her, but she knew that Luz was going to be utterly devastated once she realized that the only reason Paul had even gotten this close in the first place was because of her own kindness. “It's not her fault this guy took advantage of her and weaseled his way in,” Amelia lamented to herself, “but I know she won't see it that way and will blame herself for why The Empire has quietly stayed ten steps ahead of any efforts to track them down.” 'It's sickening how concerned you are for someone who's left you in her shadow,' Other Amelia unhelpfully chimed in. 'But you let her lead you into this mess, and it's going to take something truly insane to ultimately get you out of it. But of course... that's Luz's specialty, isn't it?' While Other Amelia likely meant for it to be another jab at how 'superior' Luz was overall by comparison, it still got the gears turning in Amelia's head. Like it or not, her inner critic wasn't wrong in her assessment, and perhaps the only way to truly end things with The Empire once and for all was going to have to be so convoluted and insane that Caleb couldn't possibly see it coming. Even if that was Luz's territory, though, Amelia was adamant that she could find such a solution, no matter what it took. Before she could give any further thought to this whole mess, though, Amelia heard movement and soft groans coming from the bed. Her gaze immediately snapped up, and as soon as she saw Luz's eyes open, she was on her feet to make sure her wife stayed put. “Easy, Lulu,” she said, definitely sounding far more gentle than she had towards her wife in recent months. “-mes...” Luz managed to mumble, though it became her almost immediately that her jaw wasn't going to allow for a proper conversation. “Shh... don't talk, querida,” Amelia gently urged, her hand lightly petting Luz's hair. “Your jaw was one of the things that got hurt the most from the Thunderdome. Just relax and rest... I'll let the doctors know you're awake.” As Amelia reached for the little remote to call for one, she saw Luz run a hand along bandaged face and immediately moved to reassure her before she started freaking out. “Don't worry... your mom talked the staff here into letting her be the primary one to fix you up. No one but her and I have seen your maskless face, and those bandages are basically filling the same role until you heal up. But... if you'd like, I could head back to our hotel and pack up our stuff. That way, you can have your masks ready and we'd be all set to go once you're discharged.” Luz pondered this for a moment before nodding gently, and Amelia could see that she would've been smiling had it not been for the damage to her jaw. As Amelia nodded back to her and buzzed for a doctor, she felt a little guilty. While Luz was likely unaware of her win and upcoming World Title opportunity, she probably thought things between the two of them were healing for some reason, and given that this was the first time in months Amelia had seemingly been back to 'normal,' her heart ached at the thought. 'We'll get there,' she tried to convince herself, 'but first, I need to close this gap between us and put this nonsense to bed once and for all.' Once a few doctors, including Camila Nevado, had arrived to check on Luz, Amelia had slipped out, though not before telling Camila of her intentions and earning a nod of approval from her mother-in-law. She was only partially surprised at the guilt she felt at how much love she was still getting from Luz's mother even when she was acting in a way that would have her own mother feeling proud... at least, if she didn't find some minor thing to critique just because she would've felt Amelia wasn't 'perfect' enough yet. The entire trip back to the hotel, though, Amelia's thoughts were more preoccupied with what Other Amelia had pointed out. She hated admitting that self-proclaimed 'perfect version' of herself was right, but if that part of herself could soldier on through attempts to break the Blight Choke by Glory to secure her opportunity, then she could admit that it truly was going to take something truly insane to potentially beat Caleb and The Empire once and for all. “It's already bad enough they still have fragments of their splinter cell trying to kill us when Caleb at least needs us alive,” Amelia muttered to herself under her breath. True, Caleb's reasons for wanting her and Luz kept alive at all costs was disturbing and messed up in and of itself, but at least they knew he wouldn't risk his 'grand plan' if he couldn't get his hooks into them one way or another. If anything, he was probably delighted with whatever Paul was probably informing him about the growing issues between the couple. As Amelia headed down the hall to her and Luz's hotel room, she paused briefly to stare at the door where she knew Paul was holed up, doing who knows what when he wasn't trying to pretend to be a part of this found family that had shown him far more kindness than he maybe deserved. As she started to move again, the memory flickered through her mind: the way Paul had looked genuinely terrified of being gunned down by someone who was supposed to be an ally of his, the way she'd caught him looking furious that something hadn't quite gone to plan. If nothing else, she was relatively sure that Paul had nothing to do with the splinter cell, though that didn't really put her worries to rest about the guy who was trying to potentially lead them into Caleb's clutches. It was at that moment that a lightbulb went off in Amelia's head. Instead of starting to pack everything up once she was back in her room, the first thing Amelia did was pull out her phone, dealing a number she remembered seeing among Luz's list of recent calls not that long ago. She knew that she would be playing with fire the moment she hit the call button, but if there was ever a dangerously insane idea that could finally provide the breakthrough they needed... “Well... I'm already trusting one person nobody likes to resolve an issue,” she told herself, steeling her nerves as she hit the call button and brought the phone to her ear. 'You're seriously going to try this?' Other Amelia scoffed. 'It'll never work...' Amelia tuned the voice out, instead focusing on the ringing as she wondered if he would even pick up. She did catch what sounded like a phone ringing a few rooms down... potentially a coincidence, but she mentally filed it away anyway, just in case. After a few more moments, her call was answered. “Amelia Blythe... isn't this a surprise?” came the cold, amused chuckle of none other than Caleb White himself. “I didn't think you knew how to get a hold of me.” “I was willing to gamble on that burner number you called Luz from back in February,” Amelia sternly replied. “I have business to discuss with you.” “Oh? And what business could you possibly have with me?” he pried. “Last I checked, you and Luz wanted nothing to do with me, even though I only have your best interests at heart.” Amelia restrained herself from vomiting at the false care he tried to convey. She was used to such tactics after dealing with her mother for so long, but Caleb was still on a whole other level entirely. She knew that if she wanted to even have a hope of pulling this off, she couldn't let Caleb get in her head. “I know you have a spy within our group,” she wasted no time in swinging for the fences. “That Paul guy we saved from your cronies... he's actually one of you, isn't he?” Caleb's amused chuckle was all she needed to confirm her suspicions once and for all. “Impressive deductive skills, Amelia,” Caleb 'congratulated' her. “However did you-” “You're going to call him off,” Amelia interrupted, gripping her phone tighter to steady her nerves as she pressed onward. “I don't care how he does it, he's going to come up with some excuse to part from our group and no one else is going to know about this.” Caleb hummed for a moment. “So only you figured it out... interesting... and why would I do this when I've been given so much to work with because of my spy?” “Because if you call him off like this... you'll get me.” Caleb went so silent on the other end of the call that Amelia had to double-check to make sure it hadn't dropped. Clearly, the leader of The Empire hadn't expected this, and Amelia just had to keep pressing. “Come again?” he finally asked, and she could hear the genuine shock in his tone. “You heard me,” Amelia forged ahead. “If Paul goes, I'm yours. I'll join The Empire. You'll have what you want.” “Half of what I want,” Caleb pointed out. “I'd prefer Luz because she offers me the most to be forgiven for, but-” “You're going to leave Luz alone,” Amelia growled. “I don't care what Paul's told you about where things are between us right now, but this is probably the only chance you're going to have to get either of us. You call your spy off and leave Luz alone, and The Empire can have me, no questions asked. Or would you rather risk any more of that splinter cell potentially robbing you of the salvation you think you deserve?” The frustrated growl from Caleb's end was proof that Amelia had hit a sore spot. Surely Caleb knew about the attempted attack prior to Retribution, and how close Luz came to literally biting the bullet. It made Amelia sick to her stomach, but she fought every nerve in her body begging her to just reverse course and hang up now while she still had a chance. “Amelia Blythe-” “Nevado,” Amelia insisted. “You've got yourself a deal,” Caleb finished anyway. “And soon enough, you shall see the light of God and the salvation He has to offer your soul in the new world I seek to bring to all.” The call ended right then and there, and Amelia leaned back against the door before sinking to the floor, her body trembling. Even Other Amelia was stunned into silence... for perhaps the second time in a matter of days, she had sold her soul to the proverbial devil in a bid to finally resolve every problem looming over her head. Deep down, she felt like she was making a mistake with this gambit... but there was no going back now. ”The Price Paid”
Madison Square Garden New York City, New York April 5th, 2026 11:04pm The arena had practically emptied of fans, but it hadn’t really ‘quieted’. There was still a hum in the air - the ghost of a crowd that had seen something they didn’t fully understand, but knew enough to judge. Typical SCW crowd... Footsteps echoed too loudly in the concrete corridors, each one of Selena Frost’s strides sharp and deliberate. She pulled her hood up, platinum strands slipping free and catching the harsh fluorescent lights above her, shining like frost under moonlight. Her sapphire eyes, however, stayed forward – Focused and determined. Ignore them. she told herself for the umpteenth time, but she couldn’t. They all continued to stare at her as she passed each one. Production assistants who used to smile at her now whispered behind clipboards. The referees – even Demitra and Hollinsworth - those she’d known for years looked at her like she’d become something unfamiliar. One of the younger wrestlers - someone who had once asked her for advice almost a year ago - didn’t even try to hide their disgust. It was all the same ‘look’. The one CHBK had thrown at her before Breakdown had gone off the air. And yet... Selena kept walking. They don’t understand. Her jaw tightened. They weren’t there. They didn’t hear him week after week. They didn’t live it. CHBK’s voice echoed in her mind like a curse. “Prove it.” How many times had used that for nearly a YEAR as the ‘be all end’ to any argument Selena made about herself and the world championship? It was always the same! A bitter, hollow laugh almost escaped her. “Prove it?” she muttered under her breath as she continued to march. “I DID prove it...” the mutter turned into a growl. Oh, how she had proven it! Undefeated for months. Beating champions. Outworking everyone. Outlasting everyone. Even standing side-by-side with Xander F’N Valentine and bringing him Supreme Champion status via tag-team title gold! Any ‘reason’ CHBK had used to hand over the opportunities to others like Glory and Syren? Selena had done it! And still- it had never been enough to the icon! Prove it! Prove it! Prove it! That was all he kept saying! All he kept telling her! As if all she had done, outclassing the ‘achievements’ of the ‘chosen contenders’, hadn’t been enough! It would NEVER be enough. she had realized that long ago, though it still brought a growl to rasp in her throat. No matter what she did, who she beat, who she ‘helped’ along the way – NOTHING would be enough for that old man. And Frank... that slimy bastard! Selena had supported some of his views about SCW needing to change from what it currently was. She had voiced such things a few times in the past, but had not hesitated in privately contacting him and making her concerns known. But soon as the prick had who he REALLY wanted – Gavin and Amelia, it seemed – he had turned on her and stonewalled her like CHBK had! He was no different with his ‘chosen champions’! CHBK had had Syren and Cid! Frank had Gavin and Amelia! Which meant no matter what route Selena went... she would be held back! Denied! Lied to! The rules changing only for her while everyone else got the ‘easy way’, the ‘free ride’, the ‘shortcuts’ to a title she should have gotten back long ago! Her pace quickened. What other choice did she have!? What other option did she possess with those two routes before her?! Why couldn’t anyone see that? Why couldn’t Deanna... Her heartbeat sped up. If she could only just find the redhead and explain this... If she could just explain, then everything would make sense. It HAD to. The Snow Queen, turning left and right at the proper hallways, soon found The Frosts’ locker room at the end of one particular hall. Selena slowed as she approached it, her hand hovering near the handle. For the first time since it all happened, doubt didn’t just whisper - it screamed in her mind. This was the moment, causing her to take a deep breath. Explain it. She commanded herself. Make her understand. Make things okay again! Her fingers curled around the handle as she opened the door. And as she stepped inside, taking in the sight of the change room, she felt everything inside of her… drop. The room was empty. Not just empty... stripped. Deanna’s bag? Gone. Her gear? Gone. The small, ridiculous stuffed snowman their youngest, Amiliah, had insisted Deanna bring for “luck”? Gone. Now? There was nothing. Selena stepped inside slowly, the door creaking shut behind her with a click of the handle sliding into the slot. “No…” she whispered to herself. Her voice sounded small and fragile. Far from the voice of someone who had just forced the company’s hand. Her hand brushed across the empty bench. She had entered the change room on time and seen Deanna there. No words had been spoken and no explanations had been given for what Selena had done or the Snow Queen’s ‘disappearance’ since before Retribution. Instead, Deanna had just sat on the bench, watching her. REALLY watching her as Selena had prepared. And when the show had started, she had just left the redhead there, on the bench, to deal with the arguments of the new world champion and every person eyeing the world title. Selena swallowed hard at the memories. “I didn’t have a choice…” The words came out instinctively. Defensive. Like she was already arguing with a ghost standing in front of her. She earned it, yes - but I NEEDED it. Her voice rose slightly, frustration bleeding through. “I earned it too! Over and over and over again!” Her fists clenched as she spotted her own reflection down the room in the attached bathroom. “They wouldn’t give it to me! He wouldn’t give it to me!” CHBK again. Always CHBK. ‘Prove it.’ Her laugh this time did escape this time - sharp and humourless. “I beat everyone they put in front of me. I did everything right. I played their game, I followed their rules, I-” Her voice cracked. “And it still wasn’t enough.” Silence answered her. The room didn’t argue back. Didn’t forgive her. Didn’t justify her. And it caused Selena’s shoulders to sink. “I had to…” she said, quieter now. “I had to.” The words felt weaker the second time, her eyes drifting to the locker where Deanna’s things had been. Forged signature... The thought hit like a slap. The word used: Not “borrowed.” Not “took.”. Stole. From Deanna. From the woman who had gone undefeated in the Shot of Adrenaline tournament. Who had earned that title shot the right way – the way Selena would have, the way she used to... a way that made some part of Selena buried deep, deep down so damn proud. The platinum-blonde closed her eyes. “I’ll make it right...” she whispered, though she had no idea how. “I’ll fix everything once I win. Once I show them. Once SCW is back where it’s supposed to be…” Her voice trailed off. Even she didn’t fully believe the sequence anymore. There was Gavin to consider and all his associates – another ‘stable’ like the Brand or Infamous, with the backing of a board member. The wars with past stables of such power had been more trouble than they were worth in Selena’s past. And then there was Amelia and Syren – Syren with her ‘rematch’ despite not getting past even ONE title defence and Amelia with a contendership status she had won by beating a few mid-carders and ‘still rusty’ Shaun Cruze after a losing streak that made her presence in that match as questionable as Kemal’s and Glory’s. No one at Selena’s level. CHBK didn’t want her in the world title picture, he had made that clear despite approving her world title shot – his hands tied and Selena FINALLY winning in that regard! – but he still would try and screw her over, just like Frank would! And then Amelia and Syren would get in the way – she couldn’t trust the sequence of events as she had planned them. Who knew how long it would take for her title shot to go through? All she had for the contract was a guaranteed one-on-one. The ‘when’ was still unknown... And she had risked everything for it! The sound of her phone buzzing on the table where she had left it was deafening in the empty room, causing Selena to freeze. For a moment - just a moment - hope flared. She reached for it and lifted it up to her eyes, hands almost unsteady. Deanna. The name made her heart stop as she read it across her screen. A single message. Quickly, Selena opened it. You got what you wanted. Hope it’s worth it. That was it... No anger like before. No yelling like before. No questions like before. Somehow… that hurt more. Selena stared at the screen, her vision blurring. “Deanna, I-” she whispered, but the words died instantly. There was no one there to hear them in that empty room. No one to explain to. No one to fight with... No one to forgive her. Her thumb hovered over the screen, ready to type the words she desperately wanted to: ‘I didn’t have a choice.’ Delete. She tried again. ‘I did it for us.’ Delete. ‘I did it for SCW. There was no other way!’ Delete. ‘I’m sorry.’ She stopped. The truth sat heavier than anything she could type... She was afraid. Afraid Deanna wouldn’t respond. Afraid she would. Afraid that no explanation would ever be enough. She stood like that for far too long until, she sighed, her hand dropping to her side and her phone slipping back into her pocket. She took one last look around the empty room - their room - Not anymore. A long breath filled her lungs, cold and steady. When she exhaled, something inside her shifted - not resolved, not healed… just decided. “If I can’t fix this now…” Her voice was barely above a whisper. “…then I’ll fix everything else.” SCW. The title. The system that had held her back. The system she had just broken. Even if it meant breaking herself the rest of the way. It was all she could do now. Slowly, Selena turned and walked out of the room and the building, the arena doors opened to the cold night air. She didn’t look back, nor did she stop or hesitate – there was only one place left she could go to that made sense - Far from the noise and the judgment. Far from the person she had hurt the most. Nome, Alaska. “Home.” she whispered to the night air. Where the world was quiet. Where the cold didn’t judge. Where a Snow Queen could reign… or fall… in silence. Without another word, Selena Frost disappeared into the night, carrying everything she had done - and everything she had lost - alone. _______________________________________________________________ The Royal Letter
You know what I love about SCW? No, it’s not work hours. Now, it’s not the hours needed training to be able to compete at the level I compete at. Now, it’s not the days, weeks and, possibly, months spent away from my family. Oh no! It’s the hypocrites! Oh yes, the people that think they have a RIGHT to look down on me for what happened. People that look down on me for having someone believe in me and actually see things for what they are and say “I can help!”. You heard Deanna. She graciously gave me her prize from the Shot of Adrenaline tournament. She didn’t need it. She had what she wanted – the Adrenaline Championship – being a fantastic champion. Another title was something she didn’t care for. Then she saw me being held back. Being forced to pair with people I despised – saving them and making them relevant again – saw the corrupt management holding me back while praising undeserving superstars into ‘championship status’. Saw those same people tell me to ‘prove it’ and ‘earn it’ when it came to opportunities and then, when I did, they’d just say it again as if I hadn’t. And my partner, virtuous and kind as she is, said ‘I can help’. You heard her on Breakdown! She made the decision and decided to help me have a fair and honest chance at the world title! Not some fourway match I had like last Rise to Greatness. Not some match CHBK could manipulate. But a REAL, honest to goodness one-on-one world title match that has been denied to me for nearly TWO years! And for her kindness, you all turn your noses up. You all disrespect me! You call me a thief. Even the ‘beloved’ and, seemingly ‘unbias’ CHBK – how dare I accept such a gift! – after months of his rigged and dishonest games! How dare I accept help when he offered none! How dare I go this route when Frank Delatosso did the exact same thing! Had any of them – any of you – done ‘the right thing’ I wouldn’t have HAD to go this route! Oh! But that mirror’s too ugly to look at, isn’t it? So let’s keep pointing fingers at Selena Frost! Case in point: Syren! The person I have to team up with tonight for Breakdown. Now, I have to ask, how many times is CHBK going to do this? Pair me with his favourites so I can save them? First, Xander Valentine and now, Syren? What? You want me to make Syren a tag-team champion too? You want to tie her to me because she failed against Gavin Taylor, of all people? Come on, Alex! The woman’s lost more times to Derek Adonis than anyone else in SCW. Losing to Gavin is not outside that realm. Or is it because I HAVE a guaranteed world title match and all she has is something in her contract because she managed to hold the title between pay-per-views? And what I love is that with just that short time with the world title – a ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ reign – Syren’s plan is to point and make excuses: ‘Gavin used interference. Gavin used weapons. Gavin used politics.’ But she’s SO sick of everyone mentioning her past! Then how about you stop running your mouth, you dumb bitch?! You want to point fingers and say Gavin got help? Who’s running your little career right now? Who ran to CHBK to give you opportunities? Lexy Chapel, right? How many years did YOU use interference? Ambushes? How many times did you turn on SCW and its fans to become world champion? But you say to me that you’ve always been honest in ‘who you are’ and I’m the fraud? Heh.... it’s laughable and pathetic, Syren! You win a title for a few short weeks, losing it at your FIRST and only defence, and your back on your self-erected pillar, thinking you’re the best there is. If anything, Syren, you losing it so fast proves you’re anything BUT! And running your mouth at me? Oh, I could go on for days about how many shortcuts and handouts you took in your career to get to the top, or should we all forget the ‘injuries’ you’ve faked? The lies you’ve told? And if you were ‘so good’, Syren, why would CHBK need me to hold your hand and get you through tonight? Why would he need me to help you deal with Gavin and Amelia? If you were so good, Syren, you’d handle it all by yourself like I’ve done with with EFN and Glimmer Sisters, but nope. You said it yourself! You’re counting on me ‘hating to lose’ more than I hate you. You’re counting on me to have your back. Because that’s Syren for you, SCW. Always needing someone to have her back. Always needing someone to save her ass. Because without Lexy, Ravyn, or CHBK doing it? Well... new world champion everyone. Make SCW Gavin again! So stupid! The world champion... And you know you’re on borrowed time, Gavin. Not because you’re a ‘transformative’ champion, but because you’re a ‘temporary’ champion. Just like Syren was. Someone that got lucky in one match and is now standing on a self-erected pillar, preaching change and ‘healing’ before even proving they can last at the top. Syren couldn’t do it against you. Amelia couldn’t do it against Cid. And you can’t do it. Not with me on the horizon. Because, you talk about old faces and long-term champions coming back from the title, Gavin, and that’s laughable because you’ve been here regularly since the days when I ran around as SCW United States Champion years and years ago. Remember those days? You with whatever fake championship or stolen championship or title from another company that you would bring in because you weren’t good enough to win a title here in SCW. Remember those days? How about when you were stealing people’s contracts – oh wait, that was THIS year – and people think I’m the ‘thief’ for accepting a gift from a loving partner? Or am I going to get mocked for that too? You’re stealing a really obvious schtick, Gavin, and I know Wright’s had issues with female couples. Right, Amelia? Sigh... Look, I don’t know what ‘in’ you think you have with Frank, Amelia... And I’m not interested in knowing. Instead, I want you to do some soul-searching and ask yourself a question and give yourself an HONEST answer. Do you really deserve to be here? Yes, Amelia, you won a single match, just like Syren did to become the number one contender. But what about before that? How many times did you lose? How many times did you come short? Against Cid? A/C Unit? Fatal fortunes? Glory Braddock? Against Syren? I know you’re talented. But be honest with yourself? Is this the right time? Is this the right place for you? And are you capable of doing better for SCW? Ask yourself that and be honest. Because you could very well walk away from tonight with a win, if I so feel like it, but what will that say? Will it prove it? Will it prove you are ‘good enough’ to get ANOTHER chance at the world title after you failed last time with your Trios contract? Or are you looking for me to hold your hand again? To be there for you and support you like I did before? When I paved the way and helped you become one of the best tag-teams of all time with Luz? Don’t forget who inspired and encouraged you to your first taste of tag-team title glory. That was me. Is that what you’re hoping for tonight, Amelia? That I’ll understand because we’re friends and support you enough that you’ll suddenly become ‘good enough’ to become world champion? Amelia, this isn’t the time or the place for that! SCW needs someone NOW! The world title needs a rightful champion NOW! Someone that can last. Someone that can hold the line past a title defence. Someone that is good year-round! Not just ‘when it counts’ like you and Syren. Not someone that is just ‘lucky’ or needs the game rigged like Gavin. That someone is me. The only answer this whole season has ONLY been ‘Selena Frost’. And soon, it WILL BE the only answer for SCW. But as for tonight? Well, believe what you want to believe of me – all THREE of you and all of management and the SCW Universe. I won’t be playing your game, Gavin, anymore than Zoe’s game of ‘having her back’, anymore than CHBK’s game of ‘protecting’ his ‘desired’ champion or Frank’s game of ‘protecting’ his ‘chosen’ by turning on Syren first chance I get, anymore than Amelia’s game of ‘holding her hand yet again’. Because I am DONE playing by these games and rules that I can never win. Rules of ‘prove it’ and ‘earn it’ when nobody else does. Rules of ‘find a partner’ and ‘do this’ and ‘do that’. I HAVE what I want! Which means I don’t have to play by ANYONE’S rules but my own! Which means... for tonight... Gavin... Amelia... Syren... Even CHBK and Frank Delatosso... You should all be terrified. Because I HAVE my world title match. I FINALLY have my one-on-one world title match secured! And NOTHING any of you can do will change that! No more ‘earning it’. No more ‘proving it’. No more ‘Thanks, Selena. Good luck’ dismissals. No more ‘Not you, Selena!’ with doors being slammed in my face! No. It is me! It will be me! Which means I will be playing by my own rules from here on out! Whether you all want to believe it... or not! RE: Syren & Selena Frost vs. Amelia Nevado & Gavin Taylor - Wisteria Waltz - 04-11-2026 Disappointment. It was something Amelia, unfortunately, had way too much experience with, and it had left a permanent scar on her psyche. Disappointing her parents had been one thing. It was easy to disappoint Aleister and Ophelia Blythe... after all, they were always moving the goalposts and her best was never good enough for them, so disappointment became the default she had to endure for so many years. Disappointing Luz, though... that was something Amelia never thought she would feel. And yet, that's where she felt things stood right now. To say that Amelia was surprised to see Luz actually show up at Madison Square Garden had been an understatement. It was clear to everyone who saw her for the brief camera time she shared with her wife that Luz was still less than 100%, and yet, she had made it clear she wasn't going to simply rest and recover in their hotel room after seeing Amelia officially confirm she had tied herself to someone who hadn't exactly endeared himself to much of the locker room with his views on the business. Amelia had tried to make her case to Luz, especially since she, of all people, had been a firsthand witness to Amelia's struggles and frustrations as of late. She had hoped Luz would understand, but the familiar tone of disappointment coming from the woman she loved... it cut deeper than Amelia had anticipated. “She'll understand...” Amelia tried to tell herself. “They'll all understand... I just need all of this to work out, and the future will be brighter than ever.” 'You sound like you're getting cold feet already,' Other Amelia unhelpfully chimed in from her thoughts. 'Having second thoughts?' “No,” she spat at herself. “I've chosen this path, and it's going to work. It has to...” She sighed, trying desperately to make herself believe that. She knew she was about to sacrifice a lot, but if the end result would be worth it, then she could live with the consequences of her actions. If the fans hated her decision... well, then maybe Selena had a point all along, and she should be happier to see Amelia following in her footsteps. Once she became a World Champion, it would all be moot and this conjecture of her being the weak link in a couple that never had and never will have weak links will finally die. As for her other decision... that was going to be much harder to defend, but that's why she was going the route she was in regards to all of this. Tonight's Breakdown in Nashville was only in a few hours, and Amelia was already getting her bag packed up to head over to the Bridgestone Arena to prepare for her match. Never did she think she would find herself teaming with Gavin again outside of having to put up with him for Trios, and against Syren and Selena of all duos, but she knew she was going to have to endure if she was finally going to be able to put this to bed once and for all and earn the respect that was long overdue to her. She had packed far more than just her wrestling bag, though... because she had no plan to return to this hotel once the show went off the air tonight. After her bold call to Caleb and the deal she had struck, it hadn't taken long for Paul to concoct an excuse to slip away from the group. Despite Luz's insistence that he stick around for his own protection, which had Amelia's heart aching with the urge to just come clean about what she knew, Paul had insisted that he'd gotten a call from some family he'd been neglecting while in their care and had to get going. Even if Luz had been adamant about wanting to stop him regardless, Paul was long gone by the time they'd gotten back to their New York City hotel room anyway. As much as Amelia was hopeful that was the quiet end of this issue, there was still the matter of what awaited her as she prepared to do something so insane that it was more in Luz's wheelhouse, but she was forging ahead despite that. It's exactly why she was tucking a letter into Darius's bag without anybody noticing, so that if the bombshell dropped, then he, Avery and Evie would all be in the loop and would hopefully understand why she felt she needed to make this move. After all, Darius and Evie had infiltrated the group once upon a time, so surely they would understand... right? “You OK, Amelia?” Amelia jumped a bit at the sudden voice, but quickly regained her composure as she turned around and saw Ivy giving her a look that was equal parts knowing and concerned. “Oh, Ivy!” Amelia nervously chuckled before clearing her throat. “I'm fine.” “Are you sure?” Ivy raised an eyebrow, and Amelia immediately cursed herself out mentally. If there was anybody on this planet who knew her mannerisms better than Luz, it was her oldest friend. “You kind of look like you're walking a dangerous path right now with this whole 'side with the CEO' thing.” 'If only she knew...' Other Amelia teased from her mind. “Don't tell me you're worried I don't know what I'm doing too,” Amelia groaned. “Luz hasn't left me alone about it...” “I know, and that's exactly why I'm asking,” Ivy sighed. “She's been venting to me about how you were hiding this from her and how worried she is...” “I know she's worried, but... I just... I need to do this,” Amelia's voice grew more stern. While Luz would've flinched at it, Ivy held her ground. “I'm so tired of people thinking I just don't measure up to Luz when we've always been equals, always pushing one another. I don't know why SCW seemed to break that mold, or why she's thriving while I'm failing, but I'm finally getting the chance to prove myself and I need to take it! I just need her to understand that I'm doing this for a reason and it's all going to pay off! Surely you can understand, Ivy.” “Oh, I understand, Amelia,” Ivy replied, though her voice sounded far more bitter than Amelia had anticipated. “I understand better than you think I do.” Amelia's eyes widened as she finally realized the mistake she had made. Of course Ivy would be bitter in her response... she had been where Amelia felt she was stuck at right now, and it had been all her fault that Ivy's self-confidence had been a scrambled mess for years, to the point that she wanted to prove to a point against an Amelia that no longer existed. Amelia wasn't the only one to be in this position... but part of her sure was acting like it. “No... damn it, no, I'm sorry Ivy,” Amelia quickly pleaded. “I swear I didn't mean it like that. I just...” Amelia trailed off as Ivy grabbed her shoulder. It wasn't the comforting, grounding grip of a friend trying to keep her from falling into any sort of panic attack... no, it was the firm grip of someone who wanted to make something absolutely clear. “I'm not going to stop you,” Ivy sternly said, to Amelia's shock. “Whatever you think will fix this... I have no right to argue against it. We both know I've been in that hole, and I didn't make the best decisions either trying to pull myself out of it after our friendship died. But know this: if you take this too far and start hurting any of us, if you start willingly becoming that person your parents tried to mold you into, because you think it's the answer? I will not think twice about turning you into mulch. Understood?” “Loud and clear, Ivy,” Amelia slowly said. As Ivy let go and backed away, Amelia found herself absentmindedly adding, “I just need to do this... for Luz... for us...” Before Ivy could question those last few words, Amelia was already turning and walking away. Ivy started to follow after her, wanting answers, but she stopped when her eyes caught the letter she had slipped into Darius's bag. As much as she knew it was probably not meant for her eyes, she felt it necessary to invade her best friend's privacy as she retrieved the letter and opened it up. Her eyes went wide behind her glasses and her jaw dropped at what she saw. “Amelia... what are you getting yourself into?” Written on the paper in Amelia's beautiful looping cursive was a short and cryptic statement: I'm about to do something I know you wouldn't approve of. I need you to trust me, no matter what... and please, don't tell Luz I'm pulling a page out of her playbook. I'm doing this to protect her. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We open up in a dimly lit gym, which feels oddly appropriate in a twisted sort of way. The place looks abandoned, not in the sense that it's been condemned or closed for years, but more like someone has seemingly rented it out entirely for their personal use for the day and they're the only soul you'll find here. That lone soul happens to be Amelia Nevado, who is currently sitting in the middle of the training ring that's here, stretching out for what could be the last training session she'll be able to get in before Breakdown tonight. The fact that she seems to be all alone is not an unfamiliar sight as of late, but something about it just feels even heavier now given recent revelations. As Amelia catches sight of us, her expression remains neutral before she finally sighs. “I guess there's no hiding it anymore, huh? When I spoke leading up to Retribution, I mentioned that someone felt that I deserved the opportunity to be a part of the fight to determine the number one contender for the World Title and added me to the match. Maybe you figured it out before last week's Breakdown, maybe you didn't... but yes, that phone call I got back during the Spring Break episode of Breakdown was, in fact, from Frank Delatosso, SCW's CEO. I know you're all getting your torches and pitchforks ready, but look at this from my perspective. Back near the end of 2020, Luz and I first showed up in SCW with a lot of hype. We were second-generation talents, we had proven ourselves to be far more than our respective family legacies, we had effectively accomplished everything we could do across the globe. Yeah, maybe things didn't quite go so well for us at first, and we stepped away to reevaluate... but we came back, better than ever, and looks at everything we accomplished. We pushed ourselves harder than anybody else on the roster, showed that we are two of the most passionate women you will ever find when it comes to this great sport. We proved ourselves by carrying the tag team division on our backs and redefining it, igniting the spark that made it more competitive than it had maybe been in a long time. Heck, to this day, people are still calling us arguably SCW's greatest modern day tag team! But then we get to singles action... and suddenly, somehow, it all falls apart. Luz and I are no strangers to proving ourselves solo like we always have as a team. And yet, in SCW... something always seemed different, and it's been frustrating. I was the first of The Light In The Darkness to hold singles gold, or even gold of any kind... a TV Title reign that barely lasted a month. I made the finals of a tournament when the U.S. Title was vacant, only to fall short. I hated the setbacks, but I pushed myself to get better, as I've always done. Luz didn't have the hottest start to her solo efforts either, let's not forget. But when she figured it out, she took off like a rocket... and now, I'm finding myself struggling to catch up. I think I'm allowed to be upset that something just isn't clicking here. People have been saying for way too long that Luz is just destined to be the breakout star of our little tandem, as if my hard work has meant nothing. They're acting like she's already prepared to lead the way as World Champion... tell me, how is it fair to assume she's ready and I'm not when I've barely been given the chance to prove anything in the first place? I had to use a Trios contract just to finally give myself a chance, I have thrown myself at every challenge to prove that I deserve this, that I'm ready... but nobody cares about my perspective when you're all content that your opinions are the only truth, huh?” Amelia scoffs at this, slowly rising to her feet before she moves to lean on the top rope while looking down at us, and it's hard to miss the bitterness etched into her facial features. To those who have followed her career since the beginning, it's a familiar look, but for those who have only known her through SCW, it's a look that you probably thought you would never see upon her face. “The fact that Frank Delatosso saw the effort I was putting in where CHBK has been more focused on my wife and forgetting about me... that's no accident. That's proof that someone around here acknowledges my fight and feels I deserve a chance. The fact that CHBK has stood firm in giving Luz and I advice when we needed the reality check, the fact that he stood by us when we fought the Fall of Man with everything we had... and somehow I slip through the cracks while Luz gets every opportunity possible to shine? It hurts... it hurts more than some of you may understand. It's funny, in a way... this exact scenario is something Ravyn Taylor warned me about years ago, it's something she went through herself with Syren... but I guess we can just sweep history under the rug when it doesn't fit the narrative anymore, can't we? As much as you hate being reminded of your past, Syren, you should know exactly why I took this opportunity, because you walked this same path once upon a time. When CHBK held power in the past and used it to influence Infamous, he guided you into being the star you are today. People hated you for it, they called you a fraud, but he believed you deserved to be in that position and gave you a chance, and you took that ball and ran all the way into the history books with it. So why can't I be given that same opportunity? Why can't I finally get the chance to run with this opportunity and prove, just like you did, that I've been ready for this moment and needed somebody to acknowledge it? Deep down, you know that I'm ready... you just won't admit to it. Let's not forget that I have beaten you in the past Syren, even if you may feel tempted to discount it because those were tag team matches. Even then, you can't deny that the fight I gave you back at Under Attack was one that proved, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that I'm ready to take that step up. I pushed you harder than anybody else has in a very long time, I could see it in your eyes that you knew full well I could have beaten you on that night... and I've only gotten better since then. You may think I'm getting in over my head, that I don't understand what I'm getting involved with... I know better than you think I do, Syren. For as good as they were in the ring, my parents were even better politicians when it came to the wrestling business, and I may hate the knowledge that was imparted onto me by them, but I'm not just throwing myself into the deep end blindly here. Unless all your warnings are simply because you're 'totally jealous' of the position I'm in... a position I rightfully earned through blood, sweat, and tears, and a position you hate seeing just because you know this path I walk and you know it will ultimately lead to me finally establishing that I do deserve to be here at the top. You hate it, not because it reminds you of who you used to be, but because what I fought for is coming at the expense of you trying to add more World Titles to your name when you've already built your legacy but just can't stop adding to it, even if it means shoving everyone else aside until only you stand in the spotlight. In that regard... maybe you and Selena have more in common than you realize.” Amelia lets those words hang in the air, knowing they're not something either woman wants to hear, but it's become painfully clear that any restraint Amelia may have once had out of respect for her opponents, regardless of the situation nine times out of ten, has been eroded by her frustrations and her determination to finally close a gap that she feels never should have existed in the first place. “You know something, Selena? It hurts to see that after all these years, I still haven't seemed to prove myself ready in your eyes. Luz and I left that decision up to you in regards to the tag division after you and Deanna won our very first encounter, and it feels like the only reason you deemed us ready was because you were desperate to see the Tag Titles end up in the hands of two people you at least trusted to carry on your vision, even as you unraveled more and more. When my team beat yours in Trios, you made it clear you didn't consider me as having earned anything because of interference... that's why I waited until the last possible moment I had before using it, so I could prove that I was ready. Even then, you insisted I practically let my contract lapse because you needed to have priority on a World Title match. You know what you really did, Selena? In your efforts to try and 'help' me, all you've done is made it clear that maybe, just maybe, you were right all along. And now, here we are. We stand across the ring from one another once more, in a situation that maybe doesn't seem ideal yet again, except I'm not the same Amelia Nevado you can push around while pretending that somewhere deep in that ice cold heart of yours that you still have any respect for me. You've made it clear you don't respect anyone Selena... not the two women who were gracious enough to invite you to our wedding even despite your change of attitude, even when we've always given you the benefit of the doubt, not management, and not even your own beloved. At least I didn't need to treat Luz like some sort of tool to get my way... I earned this, just like you say you've earned this for months, and now you're going to try and take it away from me again because just like Syren, you haven't been World Champion enough times. You, and you alone, have to hold that title... Maybe this is necessary, Selena... maybe what you really need is to look at yourself in the mirror and realize just how far you've fallen... and why I'm more than happy to step up and take your place while finally proving, once and for all, that when you take away the games, I've always been ready to step up to the very top. I let myself be led astray for far too long, but I believe that truth clearly now. And come Breakdown tonight, right here in Nashville? You'll both finally believe it too. And as for my partner? Gavin, I'm only going to say this once... just like when we last had to work together back during Trios, I'll have your back as long as you have mine and take this seriously. But make no mistake... you have what I want, what I know I deserve, and I want you to keep that in mind during this match. Because come Hubris? I'm going to make you a believer as well.” Amelia lets out a long, pained sigh as she turns away from us, throwing herself into running off the ropes and generally beginning what looks like a light but fierce final workout before she heads over to the Bridgestone Arena to take care of business and prove her doubters wrong... just as she's been doing for far too long already, and just as she finally knows she truly deserves this. No more doubts. No more questions. No more games. |
