I wanted to give an update. I was on pace to finish the show for this morning. Last night, however, I realized I was making some concessions I really shouldn't on the biggest show of the year and in particularly, one match I was finishing up really wasn't that good.

I took three full weeks off from SCW - a much needed break - after deadline, and started to get back into things. Much of the writing has gone well, but I've been balancing that with my return to work the last two weeks, along with any prep. I'm going away with my wife this weekend - we both do a terrible job at actually taking time off - and so I'm not around as I normally would be to finish things up. I tried to rush things to get them done, but frankly, with the great writing all of you did for Rise to Greatness, I want to return that effort in kind. I even was planning to not include match hype videos and other things I do to make RTG special to try and get it up on time.

Last night, I finally made the decision that if I'm not going to do it right, it's not worth it, especially for what is our "season finale." I can take a few extra days, post a card (which is up) and do those things properly. I realize this will be frustrating as I know some of you are really raring to go for the new season, but I always told myself I wouldn't compromise what I do feel is SCW's main strength - the quality of writing and the quality of the shows. So, Rise to Greatness and its pre-show WILL be up in the next week. Most of the matches are written or mostly written. Matches are judged. I just need to focus on segments, hype-videos, and other matters like that. I just ran out of time before I spend the weekend with my wife. I haven't even had a chance to do the events calendar as I've focused on the shows. I have to do some prep for the next week when I get back, but I should then have my time when not teaching to finish the shows and to the level you all expect.

Sorry for the added additional delay, but I hope you understand why. October 1 is our first show back. I'll have the events calendar completed next week too. And I hope the added time allows you to get even more ideas going. There are a few other things being worked on behind the scenes for SCW and hopefully it will all come together as we enter our 24th year.]]>

(The Sandurakar chant starts up. As it does so, the lights go down and the audience brings their phone lights out. A deep purple light shines upward from below the stage and fog starts to roil around the stage and on down the ramp. 4 drummers with what look to be Asian battle drums of some sort come out to the stage and set up. The chant goes down and then all is silent for a minute, we hear Vespertine's voice over the loudspeakers.

"I see you. I see your soul. And it.... is.... mine!"


"One of the drummers on the stage does a battle shout which is echoed by the others and then they start on their drums, drumming and tapping in unison which indicates the start of "The Warrior Chant" by the Hu.

"Hu hu hu hu hu hu hu."

(A few moments of deep drumming and shouting from the drummers and then from below the stage, Gangrel style, rises Vespertine on the trapdoor entrance platform. She is looking down, arms down, she wears her ring gear, with trenchcoat and covered hood. When the platform stops, she steps off to the edge of the entrance ramp and then slowly looks up. As she does so, she opens her eyes and they are glowing a bright purple (or another color). She reaches out to the audience as if to encompass their souls.)

"Hu Hu Hu Hu Hu Hu"

(She then walks down to the ring and when she gets ringside, she goes up the steps, leans on the ropes, turns around and does a backflip over the ring ropes (Melina style). She gets to the center of the ring and looks down, then slowly she lifts her arms to point at the ceiling, then brings them back down quickly upon which fire pyro pillars go off at each of the four corner posts. She looks around (either at her opponent or the audience and her eyes have turned to an orbless white. She slowly removes her hood and then looks up again and screams a feral scream to the ceiling. When she looks back at us, her eyes have returned to their normal color.)



(She walks over to the ring ropes and hands a techie both her hood and trenchcoat not taking her eyes off her opponent. The music stops and we hear over the loudspeakers.)

(As the fog seems to get sucked under the ring, she gets to her side of the ring, puts hand to fist and bows to her opponent then then stands waiting for her match to start)


Ring Announcer: Hailing from the Gates of Eternity, coming in at 5 feet 5 inches, and 115 lbs, she is the Inevitable End, the Well Rounded Fighting Machine, I give you VESPERTINEEEEEEEEEE!!!!


Bio:
Ancient Times:  Buddhism was founded 1000 years before Christianity.  Buddha was originally named Sidartha Guatama.   He was a prince before he became a pauper.  His brother, Sidanthka Guatama was next in line after him.  When Sidartha left to go on his journey and found Buddism, his brother left a year later in his footsteps only to discover that the dark side of Buddhism is a much better place.  Meanwhile, Buddha took a wife, Vespertine and over the millenia and the many centuries they were together, she fought as his wife and his general in his army against his brother.  Half a millenia ago, she came face to face with Sidanktha and it changed the course of her life forever.  Now she follows the dark buddha and scorns anything from her former husband/lover master.  Over the last millenia whenever she is reincarnated she finds Sidanktha and becomes his head general.  All to balance out the power of the Universe.  In this lifetime, she has died and been resurrected but finds a new battleground upon which to fight.  The ring.  Being a wrestler.  


Then:  Vespertine has wrestled in Japan, Mexico, Korea, US, Canada and Britain. She broke into the business 7 years ago. Her father owns a couple of restaurant chains and a casino in Las Vegas where he and her mother currently reside. He owns Benehana's and PF Changs. Her mother is a retired school teacher. She lives in San Francisco, Ca and when she isn't busy wrestling, she does acting, modeling and is a karate instructor for the local kids on the side. She has been in a couple of B rated movies but she won't admit to that.  Her off screen boyfriend is named James (the first latino she has ever dated) who is contributing writer to the Oakland Tribune and is a trainer at the local wrestling promotion, Bay Area Wrestling  Federation, BAWF.  She will occasionally use him in on screen promos but more often it is more of an off the camera deal.  She has a fiery and spicy personality and temperment and he has the latino heat to match.  

Now:
She died... once, about 6 years ago. Cause unknown, maybe had something to do with a car crash.  But then she was brought back to life by her sensei for reasons known only to him. Originally he brought her back to be with Buddha but eventually she found her way back to his brother. She is now his right hand and is a ferrier of souls that she takes to him so he can feed.  She is known as a Hallow.  Not dead but not alive, a vessel of souls for him.   She doesn't remember much when she was alive before just of her family which was enstranged to her.   Now, she has a new and interesting chapter in her life and she is stronger than ever being the undead ferrier of souls for her dark buddha.  Her memory comes and goes when ever her Dark buddha punishes her by giving her, her soul back (punishment enough for the souless).  But when she does remember, it can be as far back as when Buddhism was first founded, or in her last federation where she was World Champion.  In SCW, who knows what's gonna happen but she is ready to be the Inevitable end of everyone here.  It's only matter of time until everyone here feels Death... by.... diva!

Has a large dragon tattoo on her upper back, on her locker back is a Ying Yang tattoo, Her right arm has her name in Korean, her left shoulder has what looks to be a tiger tearing through her skin.  Then a wolf with a butterfly by her elbow. Her naval has a white tiger which is in reference to the two white tigers that she keeps as pets.   She has a pagoda and a sunset tattoed down her right leg and a Geisha girl with an umbrella tattooed down her left leg.  (I couldn't attach any more pics than I already have.  From WWE2k24 I took a 360 degree pics of all her tatts)  Lips are tattooed on her inner thigh.
- As for piercings: naval ring and stud, 2 lip studs, ear bars and rings all down the lobes, nose studs, eyebrow studs on both sides and sometimes a nose ring. "The Warrior Chant"  




Entrance:  

(The Sandurakar chant starts up. As it does so, the lights go down and the audience brings their phone lights out. A deep purple light shines upward from below the stage and fog starts to roil around the stage and on down the ramp. 4 drummers with what look to be Asian battle drums of some sort come out to the stage and set up. The chant goes down and then all is silent for a minute, we hear Vespertine's voice over the loudspeakers.

"I see you. I see your soul. And it.... is.... mine!"


"One of the drummers on the stage does a battle shout which is echoed by the others and then they start on their drums, drumming and tapping in unison which indicates the start of "The Warrior Chant" by the Hu.

"Hu hu hu hu hu hu hu."

(A few moments of deep drumming and shouting from the drummers and then from below the stage, Gangrel style, rises Vespertine on the trapdoor entrance platform. She is looking down, arms down, she wears her ring gear, with trenchcoat and covered hood. When the platform stops, she steps off to the edge of the entrance ramp and then slowly looks up. As she does so, she opens her eyes and they are glowing a bright purple (or another color). She reaches out to the audience as if to encompass their souls.)

"Hu Hu Hu Hu Hu Hu"

(She then walks down to the ring and when she gets ringside, she goes up the steps, leans on the ropes, turns around and does a backflip over the ring ropes (Melina style). She gets to the center of the ring and looks down, then slowly she lifts her arms to point at the ceiling, then brings them back down quickly upon which fire pyro pillars go off at each of the four corner posts. She looks around (either at her opponent or the audience and her eyes have turned to an orbless white. She slowly removes her hood and then looks up again and screams a feral scream to the ceiling. When she looks back at us, her eyes have returned to their normal color.)



(She walks over to the ring ropes and hands a techie both her hood and trenchcoat not taking her eyes off her opponent. The music stops and we hear over the loudspeakers.)

(As the fog seems to get sucked under the ring, she gets to her side of the ring, puts hand to fist and bows to her opponent then then stands waiting for her match to start)

Bio:
Ancient Times:  Buddhism was founded 1000 years before Christianity.  Buddha was originally named Sidartha Guatama.   He was a prince before he became a pauper.  His brother, Sidanthka Guatama was next in line after him.  When Sidartha left to go on his journey and found Buddism, his brother left a year later in his footsteps only to discover that the dark side of Buddhism is a much better place.  Meanwhile, Buddha took a wife, Vespertine and over the millenia and the many centuries they were together, she fought as his wife and his general in his army against his brother.  Half a millenia ago, she came face to face with Sidanktha and it changed the course of her life forever.  Now she follows the dark buddha and scorns anything from her former husband/lover master.  Over the last millenia whenever she is reincarnated she finds Sidanktha and becomes his head general.  All to balance out the power of the Universe.  In this lifetime, she has died and been resurrected but finds a new battleground upon which to fight.  The ring.  Being a wrestler.  


Then:  Vespertine has wrestled in Japan, Mexico, Korea, US, Canada and Britain. She broke into the business 7 years ago. Her father owns a couple of restaurant chains and a casino in Las Vegas where he and her mother currently reside. He owns Benehana's and PF Changs. Her mother is a retired school teacher. She lives in San Francisco, Ca and when she isn't busy wrestling, she does acting, modeling and is a karate instructor for the local kids on the side. She has been in a couple of B rated movies but she won't admit to that.  Her off screen boyfriend is named James (the first latino she has ever dated) who is contributing writer to the Oakland Tribune and is a trainer at the local wrestling promotion, Bay Area Wrestling  Federation, BAWF.  She will occasionally use him in on screen promos but more often it is more of an off the camera deal.  She has a fiery and spicy personality and temperment and he has the latino heat to match.  

Now:
She died... once, about 6 years ago. Cause unknown, maybe had something to do with a car crash.  But then she was brought back to life by her sensei for reasons known only to him. Originally he brought her back to be with Buddha but eventually she found her way back to his brother. She is now his right hand and is a ferrier of souls that she takes to him so he can feed.  She is known as a Hallow.  Not dead but not alive, a vessel of souls for him.   She doesn't remember much when she was alive before just of her family which was enstranged to her.   Now, she has a new and interesting chapter in her life and she is stronger than ever being the undead ferrier of souls for her dark buddha.  Her memory comes and goes when ever her Dark buddha punishes her by giving her, her soul back (punishment enough for the souless).  But when she does remember, it can be as far back as when Buddhism was first founded, or in her last federation where she was World Champion.  In SCW, who knows what's gonna happen but she is ready to be the Inevitable end of everyone here.  It's only matter of time until everyone here feels Death... by.... diva!

Behavior: Sabrina Kincaid, as far as anyone can tell, seems to be the girlfriend of Dexter Grant, the fact that someone like him even has a girlfriend probably being a shock in and of itself. While she, similar to Wendell, doesn't look like she's much for fighting, she has more of a spine than Wendell does and will not hesitate to stand her ground and speak her mind in the face of someone threatening her, Wendell or Dexter, further bolstered by the fact that she seems to be just as brilliant as Dexter is. Like Wendell, Sabrina will accompany Dexter to the ring for his matches and will interfere when it looks necessary to try and get Dexter the win, relying on typical heel manager tactics like distracting the referee or the opponent (especially the referee if it helps open up Wendell to get a cheap shot of his own in or slip something to Dexter to use), tripping up Dexter's opponents, pushing the ropes towards Dexter or pulling them away on submissions attempts (pending if Dexter's the one with the submission or trapped in it), etc.

Biography: At first glance, you might question how someone like Sabrina Kincaid ended up with the likes of Dexter Grant, especially since she's quite a gorgeous woman. Truth be told, Sabrina and Dexter have history, as she seemed to be his closest friend (though no one knows for sure if there was anything deeper between them at the time) in college. After she graduated, she bounced around between different jobs as a programmer and software/app developer before ultimately ended up at Innovatech, one of the country's largest and most successful development companies, and perhaps the most infamous thing about her from her time at that company was the appearance she made in a viral advertising campaign put together by Innovatech's CEO actively demonizing Dexter in an attempt to get his SCW contract terminated following his Shot of Adrenaline match with the-then Polly Pingotti. About a month after that, however, she seemed to quit Innovatech out of the blue before turning around and leading the charge for a class action lawsuit against the company regarding years of stolen work the CEO has taken credit for from former employees, and she's been spotted traveling with Dexter and Wendell in their RV. As we have just had the Rise to Greatness deadline pass, this is when we go into our yearly hiatus. It's an opportunity for all of you to recharge, see families, maybe find out what that giant yellow orb is in the sky....okay, I'm kidding a bit. But it is a time for you to step away and recharge (and for me to do the same).

A couple of things to note - while SCW will be on hiatus until it starts our 24th(!) season in September, there will be some things going on.

First, if you noticed the news report on the website, we are bringing back the yearly awards, but I'm putting them to be part of the Rise to Greatness weekend as this is our normal "end of season" period. I will have cateogories, nominations, and what not up in the next day or so with about a week to accept votes. This also may give you a chance to review some of the shows from the last year and a half and hopefully look back on some of it fondly.

Second, more to avoid any issues, there will be no updates on Rise to Greatness for at least two weeks. The earliest I will announce a timeline for posting is August 22. This is intentional - both so I can take a few days completely away from the fed, but also so people aren't asking about when the show is going up. In the meantime, I will be however posting a schedule for the rest of the year and likely doing some other updates.

That said, tentatively, the plan is to return during the first week of September and to this end, Breakdown will be moving to Wednesday nights. This is done for my own schedule. Thursdays have been a long day for me for many years, and it will likely continue this fall and into the winter. My hope is that I can do the heavy lifting (judging and most pre-writing) before that day, so I can get into a good groove when we return. I still enjoy doing this and I hope to continue to doing it at a high level for a while more.

To that end, I will also be using the website more often. I've started to try and do that in the build to RTG. Part of this is to rebuild those habits I had when I was younger and to use everything we have at our disposal to have a great fed experience.

I also bring up the above in case you know of people thinking about joining SCW. This is a great time for them to come in at a fresh point and it allows us to also have some fun with a potential BD after RTG style show. For those who are in SCW already, this is also an opportunity to reconsider your roster of characters, if you want to add or remove a character, or if you're looking to develop goals for the next year. I will do my best to respond as I can.

Finally, I look forward to reading all of your roleplays for Rise to Greatness and I hope that the show I can write will be worth the way. Enjoy some time away and, of course, I'll still see many of you on the fed discord.]]>
