OOC: Came up with a quick new character idea I figured I'd throw into this. Actually had a lot of fun writing this and putting this character together, so maybe this can serve as a base I can build from if I decide to do more with this character down the line.
--------------------------------
If you took one look at the woman known as Seraphina Cruz, you might think she was one of the hottest women you've ever laid eyes on.
While she would take that as a compliment and probably reward you with a little shimmy of her hips, there was far more to this woman than many would realize.
It was hardly her fault that she just so happened to have a blessed puberty that gave her curves that drove most men crazy (and a few women too, but she was still on the fence about whether or not that was an avenue worth exploring). Maybe it would've helped if she didn't lean into it so much, but it was hard not to when her curves became the ultimate accessory for one of her greatest passions:
dance.
For all her life, Seraphina loved to dance. She didn't care what kind of dancing it was, if she could lose herself in the music and move her body to it, she fell in love with it. Perhaps the only thing that rivaled her passion for dancing was her passion for making people cheer, putting on a show for a crowd of people that got them roaring in delight. It was no surprise when she began trying to use her dancing talent to make people happy, especially once her body became what it is today. She knew eyes naturally gravitated towards her, and as long as people respected her boundaries, she was more than happy to flaunt what she had to delight the natural crowds that surrounded her.
It probably wouldn't surprise you to hear that she was not only a cheerleader in school, but also one of the most popular girls and the apple of every boy's eye... which sometimes came with its own problems. Sure, maybe there were women out there who had no problem shaking their asses or bouncing their tits and welcoming the creeps who couldn't keep their hands to themselves, but she was the kind of woman who would gladly flaunt but never bare it all unless you'd earned it. Heaven forbid a woman have some semblance of self-respect and dignity even in a world where plastering your curves all over social media was a fast track to stardom these days.
Nah, for as much as Seraphina liked to actually flaunt her assets and draw attention, she was raised in a household that instilled the ethics of hard work to earn your keep, and she would happily bust her shapely ass to earn everything she wanted to have to her name in this world.
It was that dedicated work ethic that helped her put her dancing skills to work not just as a cheerleader, but also playing soccer in high school, not to mention pushing the limits of her speed and agility in track and field. It was her dedicated training that allowed her to graduate from her dance academy at the top of her group. That determination and devotion translated to earning her way onto the dance team for the Miami Heat during every single season they played in the NBA, not to mention caught the eye of the occasional musician or producer who let her show her stuff for a music video. She didn't care if she was just there to dance in the background, that didn't stop her from letting her moves impress all the same.
I suppose that raises the question... when did she go from Seraphina Cruz the sultry dancer to Seraphina Blaze the sultry wrestler?
Truthfully? You could blame that on the old competitive fire that burned deep in her soul.
The reason the ethics of hard work were a staple of her household was because her family as a whole always held a strong competitive spirit, always striving to prove themselves the right way. Seraphina's father had been a former pro baseball player back in his heyday, her mother had been a highly successful model, and each of her siblings had striven for greatness in their own ways. The family trophy room had never been a place for gloating or arguing over who accomplished more, it was always a reminder that if you were a Cruz, that means you lived your life to the fullest and pushed yourself to earn any achievement you set your mind to. She always had the support of her family, whether it was for her dancing or the sports she did, but as much as she loved her dancing endeavors after school and bringing people to their feet in delight, it had always been in support of someone else.
Yeah, maybe she wanted to hear them cheering her name and showering her with praise a little bit, but can you blame her? What human being doesn't want their moment in the sun for a change?
After parting ways with the Miami Heat organization, with the door left open for her if she ever wished to return to their dance team, Seraphina decided to try her hand at wrestling, awed by the crowds and how vocal they could get and the thought of being able to put on a show by combining her dancing and athletic talents without compromise. She didn't have some big name trainer or a legacy she had to live up to, just a local wrestling school where she learned the basics and pushed herself to define a style that made the most of everything that she had to offer. To her? That was perfect, giving her the bare bones to build a name for herself without any expectations, just a blank canvas to create her own masterpiece with.
As a nod to the fiery passion she possessed, as well as paying respect to her time dancing to support the Heat, that name would be Seraphina Blaze.
Sure, some might scoff at how much she learned into her curves and what she could do with them while dancing, declaring herself “Temptation Incarnate” as she happily seduced audiences and opponents alike, but she was no mere diva. Her curves weren't all there was to her, nor were they all she wanted there to be to her, and beneath the image of a seductive temptress she'd crafted for herself, opponents quickly found out that she was quite the determined and dangerous wrestler. Sure, maybe she couldn't resist dancing to pop the crowd every now and then, and maybe she sometimes pushed herself way too hard and paid the price for it, but that's what it meant to have the fiery passion of a Cruz that would blaze a trail for her in this business, and if she didn't knock you out or drive you into the mat for a three count, she was more than happy to show just how flexible dancing had made her while she's making you tap out with some of the more unique submissions holds that you've ever seen, holds that might only be a dream for others to pull off without her degree of flexibility and strength.
For the past four years, Seraphina had made a name for herself on the independent scene, proving that she could be both beautiful and dangerous. Of course, like every independent wrestler, for as much as she's achieved over the years, there was always that nagging belief that she could do more, be more, aim higher. Big time companies like Supreme Championship Wrestling would be a dream come true to wrestle for, but alas, that call never came.
Sometimes, though... opportunity could present itself in the most unexpected of ways, and it would be up to you to decide how you chose to approach it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To Seraphina, today just seemed like any other day. She was dressed in her ring gear, which practically screamed “Temptation Incarnate” as was her chosen nickname, in the middle of grappling with Wade, who was one of the trainers she'd learned under when she came here looking to become a wrestler just a few short years ago. Wade, for his part, didn't seem bothered by what Seraphina had on display of her assets in her choice of attire, having lived here in Miami all his life and being very accustomed to seeing gorgeous girls in skintight bikinis on a regular basis. Maybe he'd feel a little more uncomfortable about locking up with a woman as curvy as Seraphina if he hadn't grown numb to women flaunting their goods for attention, but the fact that Seraphina was actually dedicated to this craft definitely helped erase any of the tension as he helped her get ready for an upcoming match.
“You're definitely going to want to tighten up your grip,” he noted as he twisted free of a front facelock she had him in. “That next opponent you're facing has proven to be quite slippery, so if you keep a lax grip, you're going to have to rely on trying to strike with her.”
“Easier said than done when she's painfully good at the whole 'hit-and-run' thing,” Seraphina noted as she recalled the sneak attack her next opponent had laid on her at the previous indie show she'd competed at. She was especially fired up, pun not intended, for this match because it would be a number one contender's bout, so a win would put her in position to put a title around her waist once again.
“Which is why you really need to buckle down and focus,” Wade stated. “I know how badly you want one of those big shot companies to scout you and give you a chance, and being a champion again is probably going to be your best bet. It's not like a golden opportunity is just going to fall into your lap.”
Seraphina nodded as she grappled with Wade again, and this time when she got him in a front facelock, he wasn't able to slip free as easily and it allowed her to plant him with a beautiful-looking DDT.
“Sera! Babe! You still working out in here?”
Seraphina's attention turned towards the entrance of the gym as Wade used the ropes to pull himself back up, the training session stalled at the sound of the bubbly voice. It belonged to Becky, a rather attractive blonde in her own right who had been one of Seraphina's best friends and fellow cheerleaders in high school. Believe it or not, despite her tendency to fit the “blonde airhead” stereotype without meaning to sometimes, Becky was actually the one who tipped Seraphina off to the idea of wrestling, given that her whole family were huge fans of it. Becky had long since accepted that, beyond the flexibility and strength required to be a cheerleader, she would never be able to build herself up into someone who could reasonable wrestle, which didn't hurt as much as she thought given that her dreams lay elsewhere anyway and wrestling was just a hobby she was happy to share with her parents and brother. Seraphina, on the other hand, had found wrestling to be a perfect fit, and Becky happily took credit for the inspiration at the very least.
“Becky, what are you doing here?” Seraphina asked. “I thought I said I'd still be training for another hour because I really need this win this weekend.”
“I know, and I'm totally sorry for interrupting, but this couldn't wait!” Becky happily jumped in the air, though the reason why was still a mystery for the moment. “Check out what I got for us!”
Seraphina looked to Wade, who just shrugged and accepted that they were apparently taking a break now so Becky could be indulged. Seraphina climbed out of the ring and moved beside Becky, who pulled up something on her phone.
“...KABLAMia?” Seraphina couldn't help but ask once it loaded.
“Isn't that the one private island resort run by that one SCW wrestler?” Wade asked as he leaned on the top rope. “The one who looks out of shape but is somehow a ladies' man or whatever?”
“Derek Adonis!” Becky clarified. “Yup, this is totes his business venture, and I booked a little weekend getaway for us so you can relax and unwind Sera, because you definitely need the break.”
“Weekend getaway?” Seraphina raised an eyebrow. “Becky, I told you I'd be busy this weekend! I need to win this number one contender's match!”
“Which is why I booked it for next weekend!” Becky cheerfully replied. “I know you don't have a show next weekend, and I think even Wade and the others here would agree you really need a break before you work yourself to death again, girl.”
“I hate to say it Blaze, but she's got a point,” Wade admitted, causing Seraphina to glance up at him. “Don't get me wrong, we all love your passion and how hard you work, but getting this win shouldn't lead to you passing out once you get to your locker room because you pushed your body way too hard trying to get it.”
“Hey, that's only happened...” Seraphina started to fire back, but she trailed off once she recalled the last time that had happened just a month ago, and it had been something that reoccurred a little more frequently than she'd have liked to admit. “OK, maybe a vacation isn't the worst idea in the world.”
“Ooh, next weekend is actually perfect too!” Becky suddenly exclaimed. “Looks like SCW's actually holding some show there to help KABLAMia promote a bit! It's called the... Wholesome Family Event. Huh... even has a little 19+ thing in parenthesis beside the name.”
“I think I've heard about that,” Wade admitted. “It's not supposed to be a big show, and most of the SCW roster will probably use the break since their Under Attack pay-per-view is also this weekend. Maybe it'll be worth it to relax and check out where you're hoping to possibly work one of these days, Blaze.”
“Maybe...” Seraphina responded, though she seemed a little bit unsure. Don't get her wrong, she didn't mind attending shows and being a fan, but there was always that ember buried deep inside of her that yearned to erupt into flames at the thought of being able to one day stand between those ropes herself.
It was at that moment, as she took Becky's phone to look into more information about what all KABLAMia had to offer and some of what this Wholesome Family Event would entail that she noticed something, and that fire in her belly began to send the warmth surging through her muscles.
“Becky, you brilliant bestie, you,” Seraphina chuckled before glancing up at Wade. “What was that you were saying about a golden opportunity not falling into my lap?”
Wade looked confused until Seraphina handed him the phone, despite a brief protest from Becky at the device becoming a bit of a hot potato right now. Wade looked at the exact thing Seraphina had spotted, shaking his head and laughing in disbelief.
“Guess there's a first time to eat my own words after all,” he mumbled.
“What is it?” Becky asked.
“An invitational battle royal,” Seraphina explained. “And as far as I can see, there's nothing saying you have to be part of the SCW roster to join it, just present on KABLAMia for the show.”
“'Winner receives a dual surprise, one from SCW, one from KALBAMia, all expenses paid,'” Wade read.
“That's totes awesome!” Becky said as she threw herself into a hug from behind onto Seraphina. “You can get the break you need, AND you can show those SCW suits what you're made of!”
“Seraphina,” Wade cut in with a firm tone, and considering he used her first name instead of her chosen wrestling last name, she knew what he was about to say was 100% serious. “I hope you aren't going to use this as a means of skipping out on preparing for the match you know you're wrestling this weekend.”
“Absolutely not,” Seraphina grinned. “That bitch needs to go down in a Blaze of Glory after weeks of thinking she's had my number. But, come on Wade... don't tell me you don't see the opportunity here.”
“Not to mention the chance to shake this ass in an SCW ring on an island paradise that would appreciate it!” Becky proudly declared as she spanked Seraphina's ample cheek, which earned her a playful eyeroll from the self-proclaimed 'Temptation Incarnate' in her wrestling circles.
“I believe you,” Wade said as he handed Becky back her phone so she could scroll through some of the things that KABLAMia had to offer, his gaze firmly fixated on Seraphina. “I believe you because I've known you long enough to know how seriously you take this Seraphina, even if you let that 'showwoman mentality' consume you a little too often for your own good sometimes. But I want you to promise me something if you're going to do this in KABLAMia.”
“Name it,” Seraphina challenged without hesitation.
“I don't want you to go overboard with this battle royal,” Wade firmly tells her. “You don't have to win, you don't have to push yourself so hard you injure yourself and ruin what you have going for you now if this doesn't pan out the way you want it to. Just get in that ring, give SCW your best regardless of who joins you in that thing, and leave it at that. Give SCW a taste of what you can do, put your name on their radar, but don't ruin what's going smoothly on the indie scene over it.”
“That's reasonable enough,” Seraphina nodded as she reached up and shook Wade's hand between the ropes.
Seraphina would go on to win that number one contender's match, and now that she knew a title opportunity was on the horizon, she was ready to kick back and relax in KABLAMia... and also kick a little butt while she was at it and introduce this big time company to what “Temptation Incarnate” was truly all about.
Who knows? If she played her cards right, then maybe this wouldn't be the last SCW would see of Seraphina Blaze.
