OOC: Between the two characters I have in Trios, this RP chronologically comes first as it takes place right after Apocalypse. If you're reading the full story, read Luz's after this one.
----------------------------------

She had failed.

That was the only thought that ran through the mind of Amelia Nevado as she made her way to the back once Apocalypse had gone off the air.

Not for a lack of trying, far from it. She had given Cid Turner her absolute best and held nothing back. Several times she was certain she had him, but even when he kicked out or forced a rope break, she never lingered on it, getting right back to work.

It was as she had once tried to tell her parents: no matter how much she was molded and trained until she was 'the perfect wrestler,' there were still things she lacked that would find a way around that, meaning she could never truly be as perfect as they desired. Experience was one of those things, as Cid had simply drawn on being in this position numerous times over the years to get the exact position he needed to hit the Sovereign Takeover and score the pinfall.

She knew she shouldn't beat herself up too much over it. After all, while she was no stranger to World Titles and main events (heck, she main evented Apocalypse last year because of the Trios finals), this was the first time she had tasted the weight of an SCW World Title match, and it was every bit the suffocating experience she'd been warned it would be. Even despite that, she had pushed Cid to his limits and looked better than she probably ever has inside that ring, almost like she belonged in the main event scene of the biggest wrestling company in the entire world. Yeah, she wasn't World Champion coming out of tonight... but she had shown that she could very well be somewhere down the line.

Her mind, however, was quick to disagree. As she walked through the gorilla position, past the applause and praise from CHBK and his staff for an incredible effort, it only barely registered to her. Even as she left that area and started moving towards her locker room, knowing that it likely wouldn't be long until Luz was barreling up to her, all she could hear was the condescending voices of her parents in her head, berating her for her failure and claiming that Selena Frost was right all those years ago before she became the 'villain' she believed SCW needed... that she wasn't ready, that she never would be ready, that she had just wasted the only chance she would likely ever get to try and be World Champion.

Deep down, she was certain that wasn't true, but that's the thing about a scarred mind: trauma doesn't just disappear in the blink of an eye, even when you're free from what caused it in the first place.

Luckily, Amelia was soon ripped from her thoughts by a familiar pair of lips meeting hers in a big, loving kiss, one that she returned before seeing the brilliant and reassuring smile of the masked woman she was certain was meant to be her soulmate.

“Lo siento,” Luz sheepishly apologized, “You looked like you needed that.”

“I did, actually,” Amelia smiled, though Luz knew it was half-hearted. “And... I'm sorry. I know we'd hoped to be able to stand tall together, but... I failed.”

“You lost,” Luz tried to clarify. “You didn't fail. Yeah, it sucks we couldn't end this show standing together as U.S. and World Champion, but you still kicked butt out there, Ames. If anyone thinks you don't belong in the main event and can't be a future World Champion just because you lost tonight, then clearly they either need to get their eyes or their egos checked.”

“Easy for you to say...” Amelia said. She didn't mean to sound so bitter about it, but it was hard to hide some of her frustrations after such a big loss.

Thankfully, Luz didn't take it to heart, instead opting to hug her wife and nuzzle into her neck.

“Maybe it is,” Luz admitted. “But it's the truth. This won't be the last time you get to challenge for the very top, mi amor. You'll earn your way back there, I just know it. Maybe this becomes the last time you lose in a very long time, maybe you go back-to-back on Trios... maybe the day where you get to be the singles champion and I'm the one trying to match you isn't as far off as you think.”

Amelia couldn't help but chuckle. “You lovable dork.” She then took a deep, calming breath. “You know you're in Trios again too this year, and we once again have the possibility of meeting in the finals.”

“I know,” Luz grinned into Amelia's neck. “And if we finally get that scenario, I won't back against you. But if you happen to win and go back-to-back? You'll know you earned it.”

Amelia hummed as Luz finally broke her hug, only to shift to holding hands as the couple made their way back to their locker room.

“Thank you, Lulu,” she finally said after a moment. “Believe me when I say I want to believe everything you're saying and I know I can trust you, and not just because you're mi corazón. My brain's just... determined to shut that down right now and make me feel like I'm a failure for not being able to finally find singles success like you have.”

“Well, then it's a good thing we can finally get some of these issues addressed soon, huh?” Luz noted as the couple made it back to their locker room, where Amelia opted to just grab her bag so they could head out now and she could take a shower once they got back to the hotel.

“Yeah, Darius mentioned something about an NCA-sponsored therapist who agreed to help us while working with me,” Amelia replied, briefly looking away in resignment before she fought to clear her head. “According to him, she's worked with war veterans and abuse victims who've suffered from PTSD and other lingering symptoms of trauma, and she's already sympathetic to what she's heard about our ordeals.”

“As long as it's not going to sabotage our wrestling careers, I'll take all the help we can get,” Luz nervously admitted.

“Me too, Luz,” Amelia agreed. “But we should consider it regardless. Not that I'd appreciate the idea of having to step away from doing something I've finally grown to genuinely love if necessary, but... we need help, and I think the help we can give each other only goes so far anymore after everything we've been through.”

“I hate to say it, but you're right, Ames,” Luz sighed as she pushed open the door leading out to the parking lot of the Rogers Centre. “I just want this whole nightmare with The Empire to be over and done with and for us to have our heads finally screwed back on correctly so we can just live our lives, be the wrestlers we love being... maybe even safely think about expanding our family...”

Amelia didn't need to have x-ray vision to know that Luz's cheeks were glowing red beneath her mask at the thought of expanding their family, and she'd be lying if she said her own cheeks didn't get hot at the thought as well. Her wife wasn't wrong, though... ultimately, the root of their issues always came back to The Empire, namely its fanatical leader Caleb White. Everything that had ever been a significant issue in their lives ultimately traced its origins back to him somehow, someway, and while the two were getting close to being able to celebrate their first anniversary together as a married couple, the fact that it still felt like their lives were having to be delayed because they needed to constantly look over their shoulders was getting exhausting. They still hadn't even done anything for their honeymoon despite almost a full year passing now, let alone gone into any deeper discussion about their futures after wrestling.

If anything, wrestling felt like their only true safe haven right now, likely because Caleb deeply respected the integrity of the sport to pull anything, and the odds of him or anyone associated with The Empire joining SCW to take that away from them were practically nonexistent at this point given the entire world was well aware of the cult's status as religious terrorists now. Amelia found it almost ironic, in a sense... the one thing Caleb cared for more than his own twisted vision of a 'purified and united world' forever lost to him because his own actions torched that bridge for good.

“Oh!” Luz suddenly exclaimed as she was putting her and Amelia's bags in the back seat of their car. “Speaking of The Empire, I almost forgot to tell you! Lily and I ran into some of their goons outside the museum.”

“What!?” Amelia nearly shrieked, any lingering thoughts threatening to beat herself up over her World Title loss tonight immediately vanishing. “Why didn't you say anything!”

“Sorry, I didn't want to worry you when you had such a big night in front of you tonight,” Luz pleaded holding her hands up in surrender. It almost reminded Amelia of a puppy begging for forgiveness after it had been caught doing something it wasn't supposed to. “Besides, nothing happened to us. That's the weird thing: according to them, Caleb gave explicit orders to leave us and our loved ones alone for now. Why, I couldn't tell you.”

“That...” Amelia started to reply before pausing. She wanted to say that it made no sense, but deep in her brain, she was certain she knew the kind of logic Caleb would justify for such a decision. “I hate to say it, but I think I'd know why. It's probably his attempt at a 'peace offering' after everything his cult's splinter cell put us through. It would give him time to finish cleaning up that mess, especially since he lost three elites out of it, and he'd hope the peace would cause us to let our guards down so we can be 'grateful' or something and be more open to hearing him out.”

“I don't know about you, but I'll take the break and he can forget about us being 'grateful' when he's done nothing but cause us pain for far too long, period,” Luz huffed, and Amelia nodded in agreement. As much as she knew Caleb wasn't going to leave them alone forever, if he was going to back off in an attempt to 'play nice' right now, she wasn't going to complain.

“That reminds me, though,” Luz suddenly continued as she opened the front passenger-side door for her wife. “While they weren't after us, they were harassing some guy before they ran off when Lily and I jumped in. Claimed he knew why they were after him, but the guy didn't have a clue who they even were, much less what they'd want from him.”

Amelia frowned at that news. “Who were they after?”

“Miss Luz!”

Both women suddenly turned to see a man running up to them. Luz seemed to recognize him, but Amelia couldn't help but take a moment to examine the man who'd intruded upon their conversation. The clothes he wore seemed... a little old-fashioned, but that was probably her mother's voice critiquing his fashion from inside her thoughts given that being 'elegant and stylish' was one of the things she'd drilled into her daughter's head because 'appearances were everything' had been her little mantra to drive Amelia mad, much like her father's had been about never showing weakness. Brown hair tied back into a ponytail, a bushy brown beard... honestly, nothing about this guy really jumped out at her right away as important, but there was this burning feeling of familiarity that was bothering her.

That, however, simmered down when Luz extended a hand and the man eagerly shook it before turning to her.

“Ah, and Miss Amelia... Nevado now, correct?” he carefully asked.

“Mrs. for both of us technically now, but you're correct,” Amelia carefully responded, keeping her guard up a bit with this guy despite Luz's seeming ease around him.

“Ames, this is Paul,” her wife introduced, arms moving dramatically in that Luz fashion she couldn't help but love so much. “I was just telling you about him!”

“Good things, I hope?” Paul nervously chuckled.

“I wouldn't exactly call getting harassed by The Empire good,” Amelia mumbled, and Paul's face seemed to drop at that.

“Ah... yeah, right,” he said, rubbing the back of his neck. “Luz and some other friends of hers told me all about them after they saved me from those ruffians. They seem like quite the misguided lot, don't they?”

“Among other things,” Amelia huffed. “Luz said they were after you... you sure you don't have any idea why?”

“I'm afraid I don't,” Paul shook his head. “I've just been living my life like anybody would. Happened to make the trip here to Toronto because I'm a long time SCW fan and wanted to catch the pay-per-view, and the next thing I know I'm being jumped and was apparently supposed to know why they'd want me. By the way, my sincerest apologies on the loss tonight, Amelia, but I know you'll get it next time.”

Amelia nodded, appreciating hearing it from someone who was a stranger to her as it definitely helped quiet the doubts chomping at the bit in her brain to start drowning her in self-doubt once more. Still, she kept her guard up, knowing that just because he'd also been a target of The Empire didn't mean she was going to openly let her guard down around someone she was just meeting for the first time.

Maybe she was being too cautious with The Empire still mostly on the loose, but she'd already learned several times over it was better to be safe than sorry with them lurking around.

“Thank you,” she finally said to Paul. “And... I'm sorry if I felt like I was grilling you there for a moment when you've probably already gone through that with some friends of ours who are trying to stop these guys. Luz and I have been dealing with them for way too long at this point, and we've just grown used to watching our backs and trying to stay a step ahead of them.”

“I completely understand,” Paul nodded. “I just wish I had any information to actually share with you, but I'm afraid I don't. I'm just some guy... not like the two of you. La Pequeña Luz, United States Champion of SCW, and Amelia Nevado, eventual World Champion of SCW.”

While Luz beamed with a bit of pride at Paul's words, Amelia felt a little put off by his tone when he said she'd be an 'eventual' World Champion. She couldn't quite put her finger on it, but something about the tone came off as almost condescending, mocking... she chose not to address it, though, hoping it was just the exhaustion from going twenty minutes with Cid not that long ago and her brain feeling at its most vulnerable to her own intrusive thoughts leaking through the emotional scars, almost wanting to goad her into doing something she knew she'd regret.

“Well,” Amelia slowly started to say, “there's always the Trios Tournament coming up in a few weeks. It does feel like I've got a team that's pretty similar to the one I was on that won it all last year that got me this opportunity here tonight.”

“You'll have to get through me and my team in the finals first, Ames,” Luz grinned, and Amelia couldn't help but give a playful yet challenging grin in return.

“Heavens, you ladies really don't mind having to face one another if it comes down to it?” Paul couldn't help but ask, drawing both women's attention.

“Why would we?” Luz shrugged.

“It wouldn't be the first time we've faced off in the ring,” Amelia added. “I doubt it'd be the last either. We're more than happy to give it our all and get the best out of each other to push ourselves farther than ever.”

“I see...” Paul said, though he didn't seem convinced. “Forgive me, I'm just so used to seeing such situations result in... well, rather unsavory collapses between partners, even when they claim the partnership can survive such competition. I mean, just from the teams they revealed earlier tonight, I struggle to think of the likes of those European Fiery Nation fellows or those Fall of Man ruffians or even those Shinigami Foundation individuals being able to actually look one another in the eyes again if they were to try and destroy one another in the squared circle.”

“Well, we wouldn't actually be trying to destroy one another if we do cross paths in the finals, sir,” Amelia pointed out. “There's a difference when healthy competition is what we aim for.”

“I believe you,” Paul nodded. “It's just... when you're a wrestling fan for as long as I've been, it's hard not to assume the worst when egos begin to clash. But I've probably held you ladies up for long enough, and I'm dreadfully sorry about that. Have a good night, and I hope to see you both in action again soon! And I'll keep in touch if those Empire fellows come after me again for God knows whatever reason!”

That was the point where Paul quickly walked off, waving goodbye to the couple before he blended in with a crowd of fans who were leaving and seemed to be walking back to a hotel that was likely nearby. Amelia and Luz waved goodbye back to him before Amelia finally got into the passenger seat and let Luz close her door before jogging around to hop into the driver side and get them moving back to their hotel, where her body was definitely aching for a shower and some sleep to put tonight's loss behind her.

Still, as Luz drove them back, Amelia couldn't help but reflect back on her first meeting with Paul, and a lot of little things about what he had to say kept bugging her.

“Luz,” she spoke after a moment.

“¿Sí?” Luz instinctively responded in Spanish.

“Maybe it's just my brain being exhausted from the main event and really wanting to have me thinking the worst about literally everything right now,” Amelia started, earning a knowing frown from Luz, “but... did anything about that Paul guy seem... I don't know... off, to you?”

“I mean... maybe?” Luz shrugged, wanting to wave one of her hands in that so-so kind of gesture but stopping herself when she remembered she was the one at the wheel right now. “I think it's probably because we're just tired and need rest. And yes, I'm down for simple cuddling and snoozing tonight after how hard David fought and then Gavin... ugh...”

Luz soon found herself slipping into a rant entirely in Spanish over her frustration with Gavin getting involved in her match when he had no business being there, and Amelia just quietly let her ramble. Yeah, Gavin was going to be one of her Trios partners this year, but that didn't mean she had to condone his antics tainting her wife's title defense.

Still, she was really hoping that her first impression of Paul was just tainted by trying to suppress the negative thoughts mocking her over her loss tonight, because she hated the thought of feeling that way about someone else who seemed to be caught up in The Empire's schemes. It had already cost them the lives of two people who, despite their own issues and mishaps at one point or another with the couple, didn't deserve to be slain by the hands of a religious cult who may as well be borderline doomsday worshipers at this point, and no one else deserved to be the victim of the twisted machinations of Caleb White.

Amelia would just have to hope that if she ever crossed paths with Paul again in the future, she'd have a clearer head next time... and hopefully, winning Trios again and knowing for sure she could take another shot at the World Title when she felt she was ready would be enough to do just that.

”Into Unknown Territory”

PPG Pains Arena
Pittsburgh, PA
September 30th, 2025
11:04pm

Deanna felt the buzz of the crowd – their noise causing an almost rippling effect through her skin as she sat near the front rows of the PPG Pains arena. Aptly named… she thought, not for the first time tonight, for she had witnessed so much pain in the last few hours, during her times of sitting and standing throughout the wrestling event.

She could not recall the last time she had been simply a spectator for a wrestling event, perhaps some years ago when she was still a manager to Selena – or perhaps when she was on maternity leave with their children. In so many years, she had forgotten that feeling – that buzz – that felt like it was ripping through her very core, rattling it, sometimes in a good way, sometimes in a painful way. For the past several years that she had been able to attend wrestling (not including the past many months she had been forced into absence), there had been a sort of ‘distance’ between her and this energy. She’d either be in the ring, or on the ramps, or backstage, but rarely ever in the thick of things and never for so many hours.

And, despite her love for the SCW Universe, she could not deny her general dislike of the energy and noise bombardment. It was jarring. It was, overall, unpleasant, and it further struck home her belief that she was never meant to be a member of the audience or the crowd, but a wrestler, like those she had watched for several hours tonight.

Speaking of ‘pains’ arena, there was something different about this company and event – AWR presenting ‘Ring of Glory’ – something that made it felt different than her own place of SCW. In all fairness, she had not heard of this company before, but she blamed that on her own ignorance than any fame or lack thereof of the company. Still, when the tickets had been mailed to her, redirected by the correct companies due to her residence in the Eyrie Tower, she had made the necessary arrangements and travelled the many hours to Pittsburg to attend the event. To avoid too much ‘detection’, she had chosen a simple airline and hotel itinerary – thankfully predicting herself too weary from watching the event – to make the travel back home in one night. Even now, as she watched the endings of what had to be the night’s ‘main-event’ unfold, the sheer exhaustion of simply watching the event washed over her time and time again.

In a word: the event had been brutal. The high-pace, never lowering energy of match after match, acts of power and control and technique further humbled and dismayed her – feats she, herself, was not sure she could even attempt to do. A striker like her, still trying to recover the abilities and style she once had – she wasn’t sure she could survive a place like this, surrounded by figures that favored brutality and unyielding resolve with their victories.

It was no wonder this place had fit her inviter.

Looking just beyond the ropes of the ring, Deanna spotted Oskar Theron standing in the ring, having regained his newly won King of the Cage title that he had temporarily discarded to allow himself to attack the fighters in that fatal-fourway main-event. The man had already been in a brutal cage match where he had showcased his own abilities – his agility, timing and awareness.

For all of his time within SCW, and perhaps to the stupidity of Deanna, Oskar had always been seen as ‘part of a team’ in the European Fiery Nation – or a goon of Konrad Raab, whom Deanna had even spotted at this event, which she had learned the reason for earlier in the night with a wild interference. But even when she had fought Oskar last, it had been as a tag-team with Luz as her partner. As such, she had seen them as a ‘pair’ and not individuals fully – much in the same people had, and still, saw her simply as ‘Selena’s wife’ or part of ‘The House of Frost’. Always coming to her with questions about Selena, always asking what Selena’s plan was.

As if Deanna could even guess.

She was bound by the deal she had made with the Snow Queen – set in the rules of their ‘one year’ deal. She was not to interfere in Selena’s business unless it was to fight her, something Deanna was not ready to do by any stretch of the imagination. It was why the older Frost had not questioned Deanna too much when she had shown the ticket Oskar had sent the redhead for this event and Deanna’s desire to attend it.

In short, she wanted to know her Trios teammate. She wanted to know who she was truly dealing with. And, for what it was worth, seeing Oskar in his own fatal-fourway match had been enough for her to realize that, like her, the man was being grossly overshadowed by his tag-team status/past. The man’s skills were sharp, his moves well-timed. It was no matter he had become the first-ever ‘King of the Cage’.

But then, as she had watched the main-event for the AWR World Championship, she had seen the dark-side of the man. Maybe it shouldn’t have surprised her, given who Oskar associated himself with within SCW – but seeing him standing there with the new world champion and two other man – four-person stable it seemed – Oskar, himself, being the deciding factor in who the new world champion would be, Deanna felt her heart sink.

It hadn’t been enough for Oskar to win his own title match. No, the man had systemically aligned with some kind of power group within AWR to ‘take over’. To overpower and ambush to assert his team’s will on who would be the winner of the main-event.

Is that such a bad thing? she heard the voice coil and writhe in the back of her mind, familiar as it was. Imagine him unleashing such resources… such opportunities for you… to hand you the Trios contract…

She pushed the thought back violently in her mind. She had no desire to listen any more of the Heart’s ‘commentary’ for the evening. She didn’t want to ‘cheat’ at anything. SCW had thrown so much at her feet, opportunities the likes of which she could not believe. First with Shot of Adrenaline and now Trios! It felt overwhelming at times the arrangement of these things. For the first time in, well, ever, she was suddenly even busier than Selena was, having two tournaments to deal with while Selena dealt with… Deanna wasn’t even sure.

But no, she refused to allow such options as ‘ambushing’ and what she was witnessing in the ring. As fate was not odd and, sometimes, cruel enough, she was going to be fighting one of her dearest friends in Amelia Nevado in the first round of the Trios tournament. A person that Deanna should be comforting after her failed attempt to become World Champion – something Deanna was all too familiar with – but instead, she was going to be fighting the woman for access to the semifinals and she refused to even consider any ‘foul play’ assisting her in gaining a win of that match.

Why not? came the mocking voice once more. Isn’t that how SHE got the Trios contract last year? By ‘foul play’? By ‘ambush’? By hurting her friend?

The redhead sighed at that, hating the truth but still not letting it change her mind. It was, technically, true. Amelia had benefitted, as had the rest of her team, from the interference of Blake Mason last year, Xander Valentine taking the attack on Selena Frost to gain the win for his team and, thus, the contracts. But Amelia had no part in that – she had sworn up and down to it.

Perhaps not… but she didn’t do the right thing, either, did she? She took the spoils of such a deed – used the rewards as she desired despite not earning them. Why would you be ostracised and hated for doing what she did? Wouldn’t that be hypocrisy?

I am not entertaining you. Mentally bit back at the voice as she watched the four men of AWR – two champions and tag-team – standing defiantly in the ring yelling words of “This is OUR world now!”.

But why not? Isn’t that what you want? To stand in the ring defiantly once more? Undenied? Unfettered? Not a doubt in any mind in the world over you and your abilities? All of that was taken from you… you have the chance to get it back! Think about it! Winning not only the Shot of Adrenaline tournament but the Trios tournament as well! Having such command over SCW within months! A comeback that puts the likes of Cid Turner, Josh Hudson and so many others to shame!

Again, Deanna tuned out the voice, opting to let the crowd roars of “BULLSHIT! BULLSHIT!” drown the voice out. She didn’t want to think about such things. She didn’t want to become just another villain – some ‘other Selena’ – not when the most important task in her life was to save her wife. Would winning tournaments like Trios and SoA help with that? Of course! What better way to prove that anything was possible than to win such tournaments on the fundamental beliefs and ideals that Selena had brought to SCW? Things like integrity and fairness and doing what was right – not the twisted notions those beliefs had been warped into.

She needs to see the good in SCW again! She needs to see there is a way back!

That was Deanna’s true driving force. She wanted something more than titles, than money, than power, more than her credibility back. She wanted her wife back.

There was no denying it at this point. She was still truly and deeply in love with Selena. She still, in her heart, saw the woman as her wife, and if it were up to her, they’d remarry and be done with this ex-wife business. But those were all trimmings and trappings. What mattered to her was getting her wife back. Bringing back the Selena that loved SCW, not the woman that was miserable by it. Bringing back the Snow Queen that believed in SCW, not the woman that tried to bend it to her beliefs.

But it was so much more complicated than that and Deanna felt that no one in SCW, save her and Light in the Darkness, could truly understand. Hell, even Deanna, was sometimes at odds with grappling the maze of Selena’s logic. It was part-act, part-belief. And she only had a year to solve it. To figure it out and find a way out of it for Selena or…or…

Her mind flashed out of the arena and back to that moment standing on the balcony of the Eyrie Tower, her Selena’s eyes shedding a few tears of utter loss and sadness as the Snow Queen let go of the rail, ready to plummet the thousands of feet below to the New York concrete…

It was almost enough for her to miss the figure passing just in front of her, her emerald eyes flying up in time to see Oskar Theron staring at her with a grin as wide as could be, shouldering his new title on his shoulder.

“Impressed?!” he yelled out to her with a grin. “That’s what I can do for you! You understand?”

Deanna gulped involuntarily but, otherwise, gave no other indication to the decree the man had stated. Unaffected, Oskar continued around the ring, rejoining his comrades and their leader, the new AWF world champion, the cameramen not following them as the team reached the beginning of the rampway. They must have cut the feed. Deanna reasoned, her experience in SCW allowing her to see the telltale signs of the pay-per-view coming to an end, thankfully.

Even so, she could not miss Oskar tapping the new world champion on the shoulder – Mike something was his name – whispering something to him and getting the nod from said champion. In a moment, the new ‘King’ was on the move, grabbing a cameraman and barking out orders to follow him and turn the camera back on. Of course, the meager man was quick to obey, not desiring an assault the likes of which the other three main-event-combatants had suffered that had left them lying in and out of the ring, as Oskar walked back around said ring until he was, once more, standing near Deanna, the redhead’s blood growing cold as a panic gripped her.

“Set up the shot.” He yelled at the cameraman, voice raising when the man hesitated.
“But Oskar… The pay-per-view is over…” he stammered.
“THE SHOW IS OVER WHEN WE DECIDE IT IS OVER!” roared Oskar. “This isn’t for AWR! This is for me! On behalf of the growing power in professional wrestling! Now hit the damn record button or I’ll put YOU through a table!”

“Oskar!” Deanna shouted out, not realizing she had until she heard her voice again. “Whatever you’re doing – don’t hurt – that is – please don’t attack-“

A glare from Oskar effectively stopped whatever words wanted to come from Deanna’s lips as the cameraman meekly obeyed the command, setting up his shot and hitting the record button. “It’s….It’s recording!” the half-cry, half-stammer came out.

Oskar didn’t hesitate. “People of professional wrestling! In case you missed it! A new power was born tonight here in Pittsburg! Not just the power in AWR but also everywhere we go and every federation we touch!” he held his new title up proudly. “I stand before you the new AWR KING OF THE CAGE champion and part of the newest and greatest faction created today! And while the faction will rule AWR with an iron-fist, I will be taking its power with me to SCW when I claim the coveted Trios Tournament and add it to my growing list of accolades!”

Deanna gulped, the full understanding of why Oskar had REALLY invited her to this pay-per-view suddenly very clear.

“Do you get it, chuckleheads? This is not some boring promo you’re going to hear about heart and promise like Nevado or some BS from a failure like Strader or Taylor – NO! This is a decree of war! One that won’t fizzle out like The Fall of Man or go nowhere like Syren’s 129th promise about winning and becoming world champion! My words have fucking SUBSTANCE! This is the proof!” again, the trim-man trust his new championship towards the camera.

“Tonight was just the beginning! The beginning of my rise through EVERYTHING and EVERYWHERE I go! No one is safe! No title is safe! No legend or former-Trios-winner is safe! October 8th!” he shouted. “Tune in to watch me lead my team to undisputed victory! Between the failed-to-be-World-Champion, the lesser of Light in the Darkness!”

“Oskar!” Deanna tried to yell out to get him to stop but her words were swallowed up as she was just out of shot of the camera, her heart aching as the man insulted her dear friend.

“Not to mention everyone’s favorite All-Star-Joke, and the girl that can’t even beat two past-their-prime characters! See who I fight!” he gestured to the ring and around, to the still recovering main-event wrestlers. “See the bodies left in MY wake?! You cannot catch lightning and you cannot catch me! All you can do Amelia, Strader, Taylor – is be the bottom-tier talent you are and get zapped! Get zapped and watch how a true champion – a true powerhouse – uses Trios to achieve REAL change in SCW!”

He gave a laugh before reaching out and grabbing the camera operating like a damn selfie. “And with this woman?!” he turned the camera towards Deanna, propping it on the barricade so he could stand beside her, shocking the redhead into standing stiff.

“With this woman…” Oskar continued, standing near her, Deanna doing her best not to flinch as he stood so close and within her personal space. “Do you think you stand a chance? Do you think you stand a chance with her on MY team? With Frost following my orders? Following my lead? The accolades she has DWARF all of yours!” again, another obnoxious laugh. “Do you get it now Gavin? Nevado? Strader? The best you have is an ‘almost World Champion’! We have a former Trios winner! A NEW ‘King’! AND… the greatest world champion within SCW!”

Wait… what?!

“The most dominant woman in SCW! You three cannot compare! You cannot compete! Just ask your ‘leader’, Amelia. She needed a fourth guy to get past this Frost – and I guarantee you that NO ONE is coming to help you this time!”

“Oskar…” Deanna tried, but was ignored.
“This is the team-up of dreams! The likes of which you all BEG for! Not one weak-link in the chain! Not one disappointment or failure in our ranks, while all of you REEK of failures! Of burnouts! Of hasbeens! But with the future of SCW in me – The King of the Cage! The wild, unpredictable Waylon Creek! And the dominance of the Face of SCW-“

“ENOUGH!” Finally, Deanna’s voice broke through, surprising Oskar as the ‘King’ spun around to stare down Deanna. “I’m NOT SELENA!”

It took a second for Oskar to realize what was being sad, though the comprehension was not complete. “What?”

“You’re talking about Selena Frost!” Deanna stared. “Selena is The Face of SCW! Selena is the former world champion!”

Confusion etched across the man’s face. “Then who the hell are you?”

“Deanna!” the redhead stated, shocked when she saw zero recognition on the man’s face. “Are you serious? We fought a few weeks before Rise to Greatness! I had wars with you and Konrad Raab several times!”

Oskar’s eyes widened. “Wait… you’re the other Frost? The one that had scared and scampered off like a bitch for almost a year?!” his voice had begun to grow back into a growl.

“I wouldn’t put it that way!” Deanna tried. “I actually did a lot before that! I won the elimination chamber and held the United States championship-“

“AHHH!” with a powerful yell, Oskar suddenly had the camera in his hand, chucking the heavy device into the ground where it bounced and parts of it broke off, earning a yell of shock from Deanna. Sadly, that didn’t seem to placate the man any, as he picked it back up with the same hand and threw it down onto the floor again, further damaging it. “ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!”

Angrily, he stomped back to Deanna, eyes blazing. “Are you fucking with me?! You’re the weakass Frost?!”

“No.” Deanna’s jaw clenched. “I’m Deanna Frost.”
“Not the Snow Queen?”
“No.”
“Oh, what the fuck?!” yelled the new champion, stomping around. “I can’t believe this!”

He seemed to stomp around a bit more before turning his head back to Deanna. “What fucking good are you then?!”

The question caught Deanna off-guard, the redhead’s jaw trembling a little as she tried to come up with an answer but none came out. Her record was less than staller since her return and she had no title or recent accomplishments other than a singles win against Spencer Pryce to brag about. Other than that…

You have nothing. And you think you can save Selena… The voice admonished. What fucking good are you?

The silence was enough for Oskar to shake his head. “What a fucking disappointment.” He spat, eyeing Deanna once more. “Just stay the hell out of my way, you got it?” he ordered. “You cost me the tournament? And you’ll go back on the disabled list.”

He didn’t wait for Deanna to respond to his threat, instead turning to march back towards the ramp, towards his comrades who continued celebrating their night of victories.

As for Deanna, the readhead merely stood there, far longer than she should of, the question echoing in her brain over and over again.

What fucking good are you?

And no matter how many times she heard the question… not once could she find an answer for it…

Frost No More

”Sleepless in New York”

Eyrie Tower
New York City, New York
October 5th, 2025
3:13am

Another sleepless night came for Deanna Frost, causing the redhead to pace around the mass expanse that was her ex-wife’s castle suite on the top of the tall Eyrie Tower. She could hear the ticking of the clock above the marble fireplace every time she entered and re-entered the family room, the whole ground floor (save for the guest bedroom that had been made for Elsianna to avoid the child having to use the stairs while she recovered) being her ‘domain’.

In fact, it wasn’t just the clock that pricked her ears with sound. Every sound felt sharp, unnatural: her own breath, the creak of her bare feet on the panels of the wooden floor, the quiet swish of city wind brushing against hundred-foot-high glass and from thousands of feet below. She could, just barely, hear the occasional horn honking of the impatient driver, New York City at its finest.

For hours, she had walked circles within the living chamber, sometimes seeing herself reflected in the tall glass windows that lead to that damn balcony. Her reflection didn’t lie – she looked like she was some kind of animal trapped in a cage.

Trapped… a good word…

She ran a hand through her red hair—messy now, even by her own standards (a direct result from all the tossing and turning she had endured in a futile attempt to get some sleep). The sleeveless shirt, dark-green in color, clung to her back with a light sheen of sweat, despite the cooling air from the AC (Selena rarely let it get warm in her). She hadn’t worked out. Not tonight. This wasn’t the sweat of effort.

It was anxiety.

“What fucking good are you?” she breathed in before exhaling a shaky breath.

Why had she gone to that stupid event? Why had she let Oskar see her? Why hadn’t she just left after his match and not stuck around for the whole show? Look where that had gotten her! Oskar’s voice had burrowed itself into her skull like a damn parasite!

He didn’t even say it with venom. Deanna laughed bitterly. That was the worst part of it all! The fact that Oskar had not flung the line to ‘get to her’ or play some mind games. He genuinely had been disappointed – crushed – that he was getting her and not Selena on his team. The question, no matter how many times Deanna looked at it… was raw honesty. Nothing else. A passing judgment from someone who thought they were simply stating facts.

“What fucking good are you?”

And with that question, swimming around in her brain came the same answer. The truth she couldn’t outrun in the silence. She didn’t know. She didn’t know what good she was. She didn’t know what good she could do…

Yet, I have less than a year to save Selena.
And find a way back to where I was in SCW.
And fix the relationship between Elsa and Selena.
And…and…and…

The familiar headache and overwhelming feeling of anxiety starting rising deep in her core again, causing Deanna to stop and take a few breaths before resuming her pacing.

It was so frustrating because she used to know. A little over a year ago, she had known, back when it was her tearing through Veil’s – then known as the Enigma – twisted games! Literally fighting through fire to save Jessica Winters, defending the United States Championship in huge matches. Her wife was the Snow Queen, and her? No longer ‘The Queen’s Guard’ but now ‘The Red Lionness’. The striker and grappler. The fighter! The long-reigning champion! Even if she was always seen as the second Frost, the lesser one, it had stung less and less with each passing day she was achieving more and more!

Well… what was she now? Now that all of that had been lost in the past and she was just getting by?

What was she? She wasn’t a red lion anymore. She wasn’t a Queen’s Guard – even with Selena eyeing the tag titles in some twisted form of retaliation. What was she? Just a former champion with a cracked reputation and a ghost in her chest that ached like she had been shot there.

The tournament with Oskar and Creek loomed. First match in a few days. Big spotlight. Bigger expectations. And she was already in ANOTHER tournament! One that was supposed to have her full attention! How had she been roped into this madness? First SoA and now Trios?! What was going on?! It was like the universe, which had left her post-RTG with nothing was now overcompensating or something! And she couldn’t sleep because—because she wasn’t sure if she wanted to be in Trios in the first place! She wasn’t sure she could carry her share – screw the idea of ‘leading the team’. She wasn’t even sure she could be a good member of the time!

She felt her fists clench and relax on their own. Her last tag match, with Luz teaming with her against Oskar and Erik, Luz had been the one carrying the weight and Deanna just managing to hang on and get a good shot that lead to the win. Even so, there was no denying who had done the majority of work and it hadn’t been Deanna. Now? She wouldn’t have Luz – no, she’d be fighting Luz’s partner and Deanna’s friend, Amelia. “What the hell…” Deanna sighed under her breath. What more could possibly happen to mess with her? She dare not ask that question out loud for fear of it actually happening.

She turned from the window and crossed the room again.

“What fucking good am I?” she whispered to the dark shadows, not expecting an answer.

“Dunno,” said a smaller voice behind her, startling her. She spun around, startled. Standing in the archway to the hallway, in a long t-shirt and one crutch under her arm, was Elsianna.

“But I think you owe the swear jar a dollar.” The twelve-year old added.

“Elsa,” Deanna said, rushing to her, “you should be asleep—”

“You were stomping around like a horse.” Elsianna said, crutching forward. “I figured we were under siege or something. That or mother got crazy and bought me a horse.” She rolled her eyes at the thought.

The little jab towards her love did not go unnoticed by Deanna, but she chose to ignore it. “How’s the leg?” she asked, carefully moving Elsianna to sit on one of the comfy chairs, ensuring the leg was properly placed.

“Sucks,” Elsianna answered without hesitation.

Deanna kneeled down beside her, causing the child to look at her sideways.

“So,” the girl asked, “are you okay?”

Deanna blinked. “What?”

“You have that face,” Elsianna said, pointing at her own with exaggerated brows. “The dramatic, storm-in-the-distance face.”

“I’m not being dramatic.”
“You’re being dramatic.” Elsianna repeated calmly. “It’s the tournament, right?”

All Deanna could do was nod her head, causing Elsianna to slowly nod hers.

“You don’t have to win it, Mom.”
It was so blatantly simple, but what did the redhead expect from a twelve-year-old. “That’s not the problem, hunny.”

“Well then, what is?” came the inevitable reply

Deanna breathed.  “I don’t know if I belong there anymore,” she said finally.
“In the tournament?”
“In SCW…”

There was immediate silence but Deanna pushed herself to explain. “It’s not about being enough anymore. It’s about doing enough. Carrying your weight. I used to know my role in the ring. With your mother, it made sense. It was… it was easy. Now I feel like I’m... nothing. Just a name with some history thanks to her.”

Elsianna frowned. “But you’re you. You’re Deanna Frost. You raised me. You used to take down people twice your size! You walked out of a burning building!”

Deanna cracked a smile. “That was one time.”

“And it was awesome,” Elsa stated. “And look, maybe you’re not the biggest, or the flashiest. But the thing is... you don’t have to know exactly who you are to be someone.”

Elsianna leaned in, resting her head against Deanna’s shoulder.

“Maybe you don’t need to figure it all out right now.” The child said softly. “Maybe you just need to trust that you’ll figure it out in the ring and along the way.”

Deanna stared into the fire again. Her reflection in the glass above it was tired, yes. Worn. But there was still something alive in her eyes. Something stubborn. Had that always been there?

She didn’t have the answers. Not yet. But maybe she didn’t need them to walk forward.

“I don’t know if I can carry this team,” she said aloud.
“Then don’t,” Elsa replied. “Just be part of it.”

Slowly, gratefully, Deanna gently wrapped her arms around her daughter in a gentle hug. “You’re awfully wise for a twelve-year-old.”

“I know,” Elsa said smugly.

Quietly, the redhead helped her daughter back to bed, promising to be more quiet so the young girl could sleep. Alone once more, Deanna started for her own bedroom but stopped before reaching the first step, eventually returning back to the living room where the fireplace was, staring into its embers.

What fucking good are you?

She should have known the question would not go away so easily…

_________________________________________

So… where do we start?

I’ve been asking myself that for the last few days, SCW Universe and all the Gritters listening. I’ve been asking myself that because, I have to admit, I want to take you back a year. A year ago, about this time, my life was given a… I guess you could see a wild turn in the road? A radical change that I didn’t want? My career blew a tire and drove into a ditch and was stuck there for nine grueling months.

Doctors telling me I couldn’t go back. Psychiatrists telling me I couldn’t go back. Employment, the Board of Directors, telling me I couldn’t come back. A title that meant so much to me – that I fought for over a year to defend on all levels, against all opponents, that reign forgotten, my credibility as an SCW superstar was shot to hell. I thought, at the time, that not even my time being wrongfully imprisoned in Frankfurt, had I been so thrown off the path and left with no idea where to go.

Fast forward a year to now. No longer the United States Champion. I don’t have a rematch clause so there is no ‘quick solution’ or ‘fast path’ after losing at RTG. I’m left with more doubt than proof that I can still be an SCW superstar, the one thing I wish to prove more than anything. I don’t have any stroke, unlike my wife, I don’t have anything to lean on other than everything “Post-Mental-Breakdown” which seems to be what it’s being called backstage, I have nothing.

No direction.
No stroke.
No clout.
Nadda.

Hell, I’m not even good enough to be on the next pay-per-view card, was I? And let me be clear when I say that. The only bitterness I feel is towards myself. Because I blame myself. Since I came back, something hasn’t been clicking. Something hasn’t been working in my head. Everything feels off. Feels different. I don’t know, maybe I’m still reeling from what I been through, maybe I’ve bitten off more than I can chew. Maybe I just don’t have it in me anymore! Maybe RTG wasn’t just the end of what should have ended long ago for me, but also a glaring message that I can’t be who I was before. That I can’t reach those heights.

Like I said, I thought that time was the biggest derailment in my career…

And just like that – SNAP! – it was like I was tossed out of the ditch and onto the road again. Like I was ripped out of the lost wanderings and placed on a path with a map. That map, ladies and gentlemen, was the Shot of Adrenaline Tournament. And I thought to myself, this is it! This HAS to be it! This is the direction I am meant to go! This is the thing I need to do! Not just for my career! Not just for the people that STILL believed in me despite me being gone for so long, despite me failing at RTG, not just for my family that have done all they can to support me in coming back, but also for myself as a woman. As someone that NEEDS to know. That needs to be free of the doubt. Can I?| Can’t I? I need to know!

And Shot of Adrenaline, a tournament near and dear to my family, to be given the chance to be part of that? It seemed like something bigger was at play here! But just as soon as it happened, that road I had been placed on… well, it took a detour! And round and round and round I go until, again, I am so thrown off my course that I am not 100% sure where I am at this point!

I am ONE match into my own trek through Shot of Adrenaline, while several others are on their second and their third. I have one win – two points – and nothing else because ANOTHER tournament has been placed before me and I am having to take that detour before I can refocus and get back to the tournament I need to win.

And the reason I say all of this – how off course I feel – is because I don’t know what the hell is going to happen. Last week on Breakdown, I watched everything dissolve and utter chaos explode in the ring. Everyone attacking everyone. Teammates not working together, enemies siding with one another, a tornado storm thrashing around in the ring, and me… powerless to stop it.

I don’t feel like I’m walking into a tournament, SCW. I feel like I am walking through a damn tornado. A storm that threatens to rip everything and everyone within it apart and it terrifies me. It terrifies me because it endangers the tournament I am supposed to be focusing on. It terrifies me because I saw what happened to someone very dear to me, Amelia Nevado, and I couldn’t do anything about it. What’s more, I don’t know if I can do anything about it. Last year, Amelia, you let Blake Mason guide you to winning the tournament in the finals when he interfered, so I know you understand. I am going to be watching like Oskar – a wildcard like Creek – punching you and attacking you… someone that may relate to me more than anyone else. Feeling lost. Feeling unsure where to go. I am going to be watching them hurt you, Amelia, and I will have to fight every fiber of my being not to get involved and stop them. Not to jump in and hold them back or attack them.

And I hate that, Amelia. I hate that I can’t just do what I want to do and wrestle. I hate that I am teamed with people that care only about winning. That care only about getting the job done. That will accept any way, hook or crook, to get what they want! And I know! Creek is desperate at this point! Hasn’t won a match since, I don’t know, since before I came back. Lost to Xander, lost his mojo – I can relate to that better than most people. Your wife LITERALLY had to carry me through my first match back in SCW, keeping me safe from the European Fiery Nation. But it’s BECAUSE of that match, Amelia, that I know how dangerous Oskar Theron is! It’s because I’ve watched him that I know how dangerous Wayon Creek is!

And while you have some impressive speakers – people that like to run their mouths and bite off more than they can chew, Amelia, with Strader unable to make good on beating Syren and Cannon and Gavin Taylor… well, being Gavin Taylor – talented as they are – I have some people that just want to hurt people. You saw it last week. You experienced it first hand! Oskar and Creek want to hurt people.

And I can’t hold them back, Amelia. Because while everyone is eyeing the prize here. While everyone wants to talk about winning the tournament and getting those Trios contracts, just like you did last year, and talk about the power it gives them, the opportunity it gives them, I… I…

Sigh… I’m sorry, Amelia… I’m sorry, SCW. I just… I can’t keep talking like this.

I’m sorry, Amelia. And even Meghan and Gavin – though I am not really friendly with you two. But everyone is talking about the shiny contracts and… and all I can see is the pandemonium and chaos that happened last week. Everyone wants to talk about how they will win it. How they will use it. How they will take it and change SCW with it or change their careers or ‘finally get what is owed to them’ or gods know what else. All I see is the people getting hurt. Everyone here, including you, Amelia, simply want to win.

And I… I just want to survive.

Because you look past this, Amelia – and it’s either Syren-lead or James Evans-infested – that awaits us the week after in the semifinals. Not just one but two impossible mountains we are talking about here and that doesn’t include this match – and I say that with respect to you and all you’ve done and accomplished, Amelia! I truly do!

And I keep… I keep seeing you on the ground, beaten again, broken moreso – or it’s me that’s beaten again and me that’s broken again, put back on the shelf before I can even finish the Shot of Adrenaline Tournament. And it terrifies me. It terrifies me, Amelia, because for a moment, I actually felt… I felt like I was on the right path again. I was on the right path that could maybe get my career – my life – back on track. And now, I have to walk through this lightning storm, holding a damn metal rod or something and praying to the gods that I don’t get zapped.

Because I truly believe, you and me? We could have an amazing match. You and Syren? Me and Syren? Us and any of our teammates or those opting for the semifinals? But you throw in James Evans next week. You throw in Oskar and Creek tonight. And who’s to say another “Blake Mason” won’t pop up?! Is it going to be another piledriver that gets you through? And on who is it going to be delivered to? Because I can tell you right now, Amelia, there are a good number of people that do NOT want me in the Shot of Adrenaline Tournament and would love to see me taken out of it before I even got really started.

So… what good am I?

Sigh… I don’t know.

I don’t know what good I can be tonight. I don’t know what I can do to help. What I can do to learn. What I can do to achieve. I don’t know any of that. I don’t even know if I can win, Amelia. I don’t know if I can trust my partners. I certainly can’t trust a guy that’s part of Fall of Man. I don’t know if I’m strong enough. I don’t know if I’m fast enough or can strike hard enough to put you or Strader or Taylor away.

I don’t know basically anything, Amelia! And that won’t change next week if I happen to get past you and your team and make it to the semifinals.

The only thing I know, Amelia. The ONLY thing I know unequivocally is that, no matter how much I don’t know… I NEED to survive. I am GOING to survive! I can’t go back, so I am going to go forward. I am going to go forward through this storm and I am going to survive whatever hell and whatever chaos is brought to it! Because I haven seen a GLIMPSE of something amidst this insanity, Amelia. Something bright and NO! it isn’t the shine of a golden ticket in the Trios Contract. It’s a long and winding road that leads to the shine of the Adrenaline Championship!

So I don’t know, Amelia. I don’t know if I will be able to look out for you – I don’t know if you even want me to tonight – I don’t know if I am just wasting time here because this tournament is notoriously lousy to the Frost family. I don’t know what will happen but I can assure, Amelia, and you can tell your teammates and if you run into Syren’s or James’ team on the way to the ring, you can tell them this too. I am going to survive!

I am going to survive whatever happens! Whatever or whomever comes my way! Because I will make it THROUGH this storm and find my way BACK to being what a Frost – what I – am meant to be! An SCW superstar! I just truly hope, when tonight is done, you’ll be able to stand with me one way or another.

Checkmate, bitches!

As we open up, we find ourselves in a dimly lit room, unable to see much of anything save for one single chair positioned between a lamp acting as a spotlight. We can definitely see that whatever this room is, there's a lot of decorations on the wall, though it's too dark to truly make out anything significant about them. After a moment, we pick up on the sound of footsteps. The sound is dampened by the carpet in the room, but the rhythm is unmistakable. Finally, a familiar figure steps into the light as we see Amelia Nevado move to sit down in the chair, folding her hands in her lap as she looks down at her feet, almost solemnly. Even her tone seems to carry hints of sorrow as she begins to speak.

“As I tried to say on the previous Breakdown... I had hoped to be here before you now as your new SCW World Champion. Unfortunately, I wasn't good enough to make that happen... and I'm sorry.

Before anyone begins coming for my throat, however, let me make myself clear. Yes, I lost... but I'm not going to beat myself up any further about it. As much as it's a natural instinct for me to do so, my parents to blame for believing I was too weak and had to break myself and be reforged in order to not fail next time, I know that I've come so far since Luz and I first arrived in SCW... since the days where we took some of our earliest setbacks extremely hard and felt we had to endure self-imposed gauntlets that would destroy our careers just to prove ourselves. I know now, beyond any doubt, that I belong here in SCW... that I've earned my place among the very best this company has to offer. If you don't believe that, then clearly you didn't watch my match with Cid Turner at Apocalypse. For as much as certain people claimed that he was too broken down and unable to be the proper challenge I 'deserved,' he still outlasted me. It may not have been my first time going for a World Title in my career, but it was my first taste of SCW's World Title, the pinnacle of this industry, when the lights are the brightest and the competition is the stiffest... and I pushed Cid beyond his limits.

Yeah, I didn't win... but how many of us who've had a chance to challenge for that title actually won it on our first try? If anyone wants to hold that against me, then you'd have to hold it against all the names you'd want to list off that could've succeeded where I failed because very few of them ever got it right the first time either. From this experience, I will learn, I will grow, I will improve... and I will be back.”

At that declaration, Amelia claps her hands twice. In response, more of the room around her begins to light up. While a lot of it is still dimmed, we can finally see what the items are decorating the walls: replicas of championship gold, sealed in glass cases and proudly displayed. Each case seems to have its own lighting as well, and it's safe to assume that the ones whose lights are brightest right now, the ones meant to stand out in this moment, are championships that Amelia has won at some point in her career.

“I know nobody watching will care to see what Luz and I have accomplished outside of SCW... but I sit here, surrounded by every accolade I have earned in my career, not to brag or show it off. No... it is a reminder. A reminder to myself of what I'm capable of, what I can achieve so long as I keep working to become better each and every match. I have earned my way to the top of the mountain everywhere else across the entire globe... even if it's meant having to overcome the love of my life to get there, and now that I've had a taste of the top of SCW's tallest mountain, it's not a matter of if, but when I fight my way back up there. Believe me when I say this: I'm not going to give up that easily, now that I've experienced where this road can ultimately lead me. Somehow, some way, I will prove myself worthy of calling myself your World Champion, SCW, even if now isn't my time... yet.

That, conveniently, brings us to where that World Title opportunity first came from: the Trios Tournament.

I'm not going to lie... how I ended up part of the winning team last year sickened me, and as much as I wanted to be proud that I went all the way... I couldn't. It was why I waited until the last possible moment I had to even use that contract in the first place, because I wanted to take the time to prove to all of you, and to myself, that I even deserved to hold it in the first place, in spite of what Blake Mason pulled last year. And before anyone asks... I did make an attempt to talk with CHBK privately and refuse the contract on those grounds, but he wouldn't let me do it. That is why I decided instead to wait, prove that whatever I ultimately used it on was something I felt I'd earned and was truly ready for. And yeah, it didn't work out, but as I said... now I have experience to grow from.

It's funny, looking back on it... my Trios team this year is almost a mirror of my team from last year. I may not have Xander in my corner this time, and thank God I do not have to put up with Billy any further even if I do believe he deserves better than how his father treats him. Instead, I have Meghan Strader and Gavin Taylor. Meghan... thank you for last week, I mean that. I know it was probably just because we're partners for this tournament, but after the chaos that unfolded all because some people couldn't wait to seek out some sort of advantage, it's good to know for sure that you'll have my back as we embark on this journey together, and I can promise you I'll have yours as well. I still remember the battles Luz and I had last year with your fellow Cowgirls Veronica and Cara... hard-fought battles where respect was forged, and considering how badly I know we both wish to pick ourselves back up after our respective setbacks at Apocalypse, I'm looking forward to doing it together with you.

And then, of course... there's Gavin Taylor. Now Gavin, we've squared off on a number of occasions before now, and I know you're as talented as your rather unnecessary amount of nicknames may suggest when you focus. That, however, is the problem: your focus. I'm not blind Gavin, I know you've developed an unhealthy obsession with my wife because you're after the title she holds, and quite frankly, I'm sick of hearing you call her names and acting like you're a certain somebody else who already makes the both of us sick to our stomachs enough as it is. I may not have to worry about your hands wandering anywhere they really shouldn't like I did with Billy last year, but I'm going to be blunt with you right here and now, so listen carefully: shelve the nonsense and focus on this tournament. Actually work with Meghan and I, and we can make this happen. I don't care about how badly you think you have a title shot against my wife, win this tournament with us and you can use your Trios contract to take your shot at her if you really wish. Or... you can do the one thing we always ask and actually earn a title shot through your efforts in that ring. But this week in Sacramento, hopefully next week in Oklahoma City and, with any luck, the finals at Under Attack? Forget about my wife and her title, and cooperate with Meghan and I. Like me, you've won this tournament in the past... so act like it. That's all I ask.”

Amelia huffs, and it's hard to blame her for looking annoyed with Gavin's antics even if they're miles better than those of Billy Heaven Jr. last year. Still, she takes a moment to look around the room, at all the achievements that prove she's definitely got what it takes to go back-to-back this year, and it helps to calm her down and refocus... even if her look turns a bit mournful now.

“Of course, that now leads me to needing to talk about what awaits us in the first round, and I'd like to start with you, Deanna... if that's alright. If only because you're the one bright spot on the other team that I know will meet me in that ring the way it's supposed to be done, just two wrestlers giving it their all and trying to prove who's better on this night. On that note, I'd also like to thank you for last week as well, for proving that you are still the kind of wrestler this sport truly needs now more than ever, like Luz and I try to be each and every week. You didn't join in on trying to soften me up for this Thursday night, you tried to stop them... that Deanna, is why we are not only friends, but why I know you won't hold anything back when we get the chance to lock up in that ring. We've had quite a few interesting matches against one another up to this point, haven't we? You and Selena proving that Luz and I were not ready to become World Tag Team Champions just yet, which helped us grow into the team that ultimately became the guiding light for the division for the past two years... me eliminating you from the U.S. Title tournament, which then led to you going on to have a long and incredible run with that title anyway. Our little dance in Fatal Fortunes a few years ago... perhaps you'll agree that one's best left forgotten for now. But this is the latest chapter between us Deanna, and I cannot wait to see how much has changed for both of us since then.

Which, unfortunately, is more than I can say about your partners.”

It's at this point that Amelia sighs before her eyes narrow.

“You know something, Oskar Theron? I'm not surprised that you so eagerly stood beside the Fall of Man last week in not only trying to take both Luz and I out, but also looking for any advantage heading into this week. This is probably the point where I'm going to hear you spout the same nonsense I've heard from your brother and his partner Ludvig countless times, but the facts speak for themselves Oskar... every single time I've found myself facing someone from the European Fiery Nation, I've always found a way to win. You can yell until you're blue in the face about how boring I am because I actually have a sense of honor and pride in my talent, especially considering all I've had to achieve in spite of people in my life who tried to hold me down when they were supposed to be supporting me, but it has yet to change the fact that at the end of the day, this is a wrestling business. You can crave violence, you can threaten to harm me with whatever weapons you get your hands on, you can list off all the different ways you think you're going to hurt me... but every single time, it means nothing if you can't back it up in that ring. That's all I want, Oskar, from you and all your friends in the European Fiery Nation... for you to actually back up your threats, because all it's going to do at the end of the day is motivate me to push beyond them and earn yet another victory over you guys the hard way.”

It's at this point that Amelia's hand slowly moves to rub her jaw, and by now, we've noticed that she's had no issues with being able to speak like a certain someone may have hoped for or have been expecting after last week. Slowly, she rises to her feet, taking a step or two away from the chair she's been sitting in as she cracks her wrists and knuckles.

“Of course I saved you for last Waylon, because you're the one I have the most to say to. Take that as a badge of honor as you wish, but last week made quite a few things crystal clear to me. Chief among them? I was right about you all along. Do you recall what I told you all the way back when we went one-on-one months ago, all to determine who would have the advantage for Tactical Warfare? I warned you, Waylon, not to get too comfortable in believing you were unbeatable, because when your fall inevitably came, it was only going to destroy you. I may have been unable to be the one to make it happen on that night, but you have proven that I did not lie when I spoke those words, Waylon. We have both used a Trios contract to challenge for the World Title now, and we both have failed in that endeavor. The difference, however, is that, just like when the Fall of Man believed they had prevailed over The Light In The Darkness for good, I bounced back. I came back stronger than ever, more determined to make up the ground I lost and earn my way back to where I know I can shine.

You, however?

I look at you now, and I barely see the same man who was so confident and dominant at the start of the year. Ever since Xander proved my warnings true that you are, indeed, mortal, you've been a shell of your former self. You've been fixated on that one moment in time, and as the losses have continued to mount, you have fallen further and further from grace. When you chose to interrupt and attack me last week, you probably thought you were trying to pick off a weak link, but I know better Waylon... we've shared that ring, I've almost had you on multiple occasions, and you know full well I'm only hungrier than ever now. You didn't see me as a weak link... you saw me as the potential biggest threat on my team, and in true Fall of Man fashion, fell back on the senseless attacks you know best to try and get the advantage. Unfortunately, the Canary was not enough to keep me from being able to walk into Breakdown this Thursday night and join my team in paying you back properly for that little stunt.

If nothing else, I see this year's tournament as a chance at redemption... a chance to hopefully go all the way without anyone tainting it this time. And even if going back-to-back is not in the cards for me, then I hope to use this tournament to bounce right back and prove, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that Amelia Nevado deserves another shot at the very top. It doesn't have to be soon, but I'm going to make it happen.

To Deanna, I wish you nothing but the best of luck, as always. Let's tear the house down.

To Oskar, I challenge you to back up your threats and push me to that level I aspire to be at.

And to Waylon, I make this promise: where your Canary failed last week, my Blight Choke will not this week. Mark my words... I'm going to choke you out, Waylon. I'm going to make you know what it feels like for a change, and I'm going to punch my team's ticket to the semi-finals while doing it.

Finally, to a few other parties out there who may or may not be watching... how's that for killer instinct?”

Amelia grins a bit, still feeling the raw fury coursing through her veins after what Waylon tried to pull last week, but once that bell rings, she's not going to hold back. For her team, she's going to give Deanna her best, she's going to put Oskar to the test, and she's going to make Waylon pay the right way. And if it brings her team one step closer to another Trios contract for her, another chance to prove that she does have what it takes to call herself SCW World Champion someday? Then that's what Amelia Nevado is going to do come Breakdown in Sacramento.

He told Deanna to leave him for a while because he has joined another wrestling team for the All Star Wrestling Revolution company that wanted to gather and have a team meeting from Michael Hill's request. He did win the King Of The Cage title and he assisted his team mate to win the AWR championship. He's aligned with Sniper, Mike Collins and the Lablatt Brothers of Bret and Molson as they celebrated for an hour, before Oskar went his separate ways, telling them team he had other wrestling business outside  to take care of and have a proper team celebration on Aftershock in two weeks time.

He leaves Mike Collins, Sniper and Lablett Brothers to celebrate and he went to go to meet up with Deanna Frost again as it was a very confrontational discussion they had backstage earlier, without hesitation of what he really feels about the upcoming Trios Tournament as it was advised by Konrad for the lads to stay away from each other for a while. Because to prepare themselves for a potential team war that was about to happen.

Much like the war between Deanna and Oskar was growing and he knew he crossed the line while backstage at a AWR's Ring Of Glory PPV, but he didn't care as he was soaking in the glory at that point with him saying this is what I can do for you and Waylon Creek who he hadn't really interacted with at all and it was a shame he couldn't come because of other commitments but at least Deanna was here.

Which he appreciated a lot and he sat in his own locker room, letting Deanna take a seat and looks evilly at her, considering he didn't want to team with her, but he certainly wanted to take Kemal's head off and he made that promise with Konrad to leave things until the tournament, but at the same time, being every man for themselves. Thinking a lot on everything that had been going on with him and Kemal, especially with Kemal sitting on Oskar's back while doing press ups.

Deanna Frost: “I know the answer now I thought things over, what I can do for the team is something you don't have yet, experience. Just because I've not won championships and my ex partner has, doesn't mean you can throw your weight around like that.”

Oskar Theron: “Oh yes, I clearly can.”

Deanna Frost: “Actually no because out of the three of us, you're the youngest and least experience in this team. We all know that you're going to team up with Kemal in the tournament and that rivalry you had in the locker room was fake.”

Oskar Theron: “Fake you say? I have you know stupid Snow Lady that me and Kemal know it's every person for himself. I'll break his fucking leg if it means advancing in the finals or winning the tournament as a whole. He'll bust me wide open if it gets him to advance as well. You aren't getting friendly safety curtain bullshit from the pair of us.”

Which only pleased Deanna a bit that was not going to be the case, especially when Oskar showed anger on his face, but the fact that he was willing to go the lengths to beat Kemal because that was the spirit that Konrad always showed and told the boys that they should show hatred and fight like they wanted to win.

Deanna Frost: “Wow, the fact you show conviction in your eyes saying it, now I completely believe you, but I believe it when you and Kemal won't hold each other back and I also believe you when you tell me what Kemal's weaknesses are.”

Oskar Theron: “His weaknesses are his high flying skills. He's really shit at high flying. I tried to teach him a moonsault and he landed flat on his back pretty bad. He doesn't have the stamina like me either. Kemal will tell the world and his team my weaknesses. It's the thing we've always believed in.”

Deanna Frost: “First thing that's good to know, but secondly, you aren't going to lead this team whatsoever. Because I still don't trust you because you got to prove it against Kemal. You also got to prove it against other teams too. You're such a cocky prick to be honest.”

Oskar Theron: “That's why you've not achieved anything because you lack a killer instinct. To survive in this business Deanna, you got to flip the script and break a few rules. Trust me, you're going to go nowhere if you're in this tournament. You got to bring the frost bite aggression and do everything to win.”

It wasn't the kind of advice he would give to anyone, considering the cocky, arrogant nature he showed earlier in the night and he still was with the title he hanged on the locker room hooks as he touches and kisses the King Of The Cage belt. Deanna of course disapproved everything that Oskar said and she has to confront it.

Deanna Frost: “No, I refuse to break the rules and win that way. I was always raised to beat people fair and square.”

Oskar Theron: “Oh are you a pussy that's afraid of breaking a few rules to advance? Look, you're not going anywhere if you're going to play things fair. I know for damn sure that Waylon Creek isn't going to wrestle fair either. Also since when there's rules in trios wrestling? Every time me and Kemal and Konrad have done six person tag matches, we never play by the rules.”

Deanna Frost: “But Trios is playing by the rules Oskar. It's very different to matches you're used to being in.”

Oskar Theron: “Actually, it's pretty much the same as a six person tag and if you're going to be soft on me, no wonder why I stuck to what I said earlier because you're no fucking good for anything and you're clearly showing it because you're too scared to show your frost bite aggression. People are going to treat you like a doormat if you're always going to please people.”

Which in Oskar's opinion, he was right, but Deanna doesn't see it that way because in reality, he couldn't be more wrong as he was trying to get Deanna to show her style of aggression and she knew that Oskar was right, especially with what she had to deal with Veil. Deanna scoffs and Oskar reminded her of something.

Oskar Theron: “You want to be injured again because you froze like a ghost when you let Veil destroy and injure you, is that what it is? Do you want to be injured again or do you want to show the world your killer instinct to do absolutely everything to win. I sure as hell don't want you to fall for pray on some guy that will do everything to win.”

Deanna Frost: “I hear what you say and part of you is right, I did freeze when Veil got to me, but he also attacked my personal life and I had nightmares about it. Nightmares of the torture and the hell he went through with my family. So maybe just this once, I take your advice on board, but you better follow my lead in this team.”

Oskar Theron: “Why?”

Deanna Frost: “Because Oskar, from what I seen tonight, I know you have the talent to be a great wrestler in SupremeCW, everyone saw it, regardless of my questionable methods of you joining Natural Born Killers team tonight, but I want you to win the contract as much as I do and you want to beat Kemal who was hand picked by Konrad that Konrad made a mistake and you need to show him.”

Oskar Theron: “That's why I will break his damn leg or arm if it comes to it. I fucking meant every word of that Deanna because I'm not letting that punk walk all over me and help him win just because we're in the same team and not tea party bullshit like you've seen with friends before. I'm going to help you and Waylon win this tournament.”

Deanna Frost: “Then listen to me and Waylon and we can do that. Understood?”

Oskar nodded as although there was always going to be beef between Deanna and Oskar himself as he went into the shower to wash himself. Then he got out of the shower and got changed as he came to an agreement with Deanna and shook hands before they went their separate ways as Oskar went to grab his stuff and left the arena as did Deanna. Even if Oskar hated the thought of working with Deanna and Waylon, he knew it would be big for him to win.

Trios Tournament quarter and semi finals twitch.com shoot by Oskar Theron. (Online)

“I don't think I need to tell the world that unlike Amelia and La Pequena Luz, me and Kemal are going to beat the living shit out of each other in this tournament. There's no room for being friends in this tournament. Kemal has likely said it and I will too, that I will bust Kemal open, I will break his leg or arm to advance in the tournament should we face each other because we're competitive guys and it's every person for themselves. The piece of shit got himself a spot as the leader of the team.

While I on the other hand got here because of my brother partly, although I was wrestling before that in an Indy promotion in New York, I worked just as hard if not harder because I didn't even know my brother existed until almost a year ago. But the fact is I'm more than just a wrestler in SupremeCW, I'm actually a wrestling champion in another company which I won't bring up because it's not important to this place and I'm in two wrestling teams at the same time now.

Imagine that to be in two different teams which the name of the tag team I'm in as well as European Fiery Nation is Natural Born Killers, which suits me just perfectly, considering I'm the cocky young stud that can be angry and full of gifts to being a wrestling star. I know Deanna and Waylon have more experience than me, I know we've got the least amount of titles of the entire team, but that's what makes us the underdogs.

Anyway, it's also funny that I'm facing Amelia as much as Kemal is facing her tag partner. So how does it feel Amelia that me and Kemal are willing to shit on each other to advance ourselves, while you both won't do a damn thing to each other, you'd likely avoid each other, you'd likely be all tea party and wrestle like you're best friends that won't sell a single dime because you both won't go the extra length to win the match or have the killer instinct like me and Kemal do, doing so because you both play boring ass play by the rules and honour bullshit, despite being the tournament where it's ever person for themselves.

Me and Kemal, we will sell tickets when we brutalise each other. So you're already not advancing because of your soft play with your tag partner.  Also you're just as boring as your tag partner is and I don't know what the difference is between the pair of you apart from your names and looks obviously. Because all your in ring styles are the same and your attitudes are the same as well At least you see the differences between me and Kemal immediately with our wrestling styles. You playing shit too safe is bullshit and it's time for you girls to evolve because you're not going to play by the rules for too long because that shit will eat you alive.

What's with the Gavin for America bullshit you got going on? It's fucking stupid mate. Granted it stands you out from being dull, but it makes zero sense whatsoever. Everything you've ever said and done makes zero sense and how come all of a sudden you changed your nature of changing your entire self to be America for the world bullshit. Oh wait, is it because I show my European colours to the world. My bad that you're just pathetic and you're not even American, are you? You just pretend to me and that makes me sick. You're completely worthless.

As for you biker girl, all these promises you made on being a world champion by the end of the year because you don't want to be a champion with any other division is complete utter bullshit and it still is because you're dreams are going away faster because you're too cocky and arrogant to think about anything, but the world title. You don't belong here, you don't want the TV, Underground, Adrenaline or United States titles, no because you're focus is on the world title and that to me only shows your acting above those titles.

Makes me sick you do biker girl, makes me sick you won't earn your shot by going for one of those titles first like a scared pussy. Why is that? Why is it that you won't go for those belts is the question because you're a complete failure on wanting to capture those titles. A complete failure on wanting to win anything because you're not world title material yet. If you want to earn titles, go for the other belts that are here because you have no excuse on not going for the other belts.

Kemal, I won't respect you in the ring because I'm going to show you how much Konrad made a mistake on selecting you as the leader of The European Fiery Nation and I will break your leg or arm to advance in the tournament with Deanna and Waylon because I want it badly and no friendship and tag team partner bullshit exists with us. No, we're going to batter and brutalise each other in many ways possible, showing the hatred that the Light In The Darkness are too afraid to show each other. You were from the slums of Turkey and you know your weakness is you're nowhere near close to me on stamina. I will out pace you everywhere as Lightning Bolts would on a acid toxic machine that you are.

I will do everything to embarass you and show Konrad how much of a mistake he made by that choice and when I'll advance ahead of you, I will be the best wrestler outside of Kornad in this entire team because I can and I will batter you and win. Fuck you Kemal and I'll come for your head as I will with the rest of you in the tournament as well because no chance in hell I'm allowing any of you to breathe, to make sure that everyone sees Oskar being pissed off for being left out of the Rise To Greatness show and how much of a mistake it would've been. I'll brutalise everyone and win the tournament with a contract in hand. Because none of you have a chance against me, Deanna and Waylon to advance. Simple as that."
