Some changes going into the new season
#1
Hello all,

As I've hinted at on the discord, I had some plans to help ensure shows have a better chance to be on time, but also to manage my workload and also those of others. These changes will come a few ways.

First, please take some time to read and vote in the poll regarding roleplay limits going forward. One option I've debated, now that most of us are used to word limits, is to revise the demands for title matches and ppv matches as most people are rarely going past the word limits anyways, and we go with a different cap there.

Second - The biggest change is that for those who know, I write the results mimicking television, meaning they have to hit a certain page number to fit our "window" and mimic a three hour show. What many don't know is that often, one of the reasons shows are delayed is that I'm trying to fill the show. Some shows it's easy - there's a lot of content and I have to make cuts and it's all there. Others, I get to about 50 pages, but as my window is 63-72 pages (to mimic roughly 22 pages per hour with a margin for error), I then have to start figuring things out.

So, the next change will be simple - we're going to act like our TV window is now a two hour show instead of a three hour show. This means aiming for a show that is 45-50 words instead of longer (although we may get that overrun!). And it also means I'll be booking a bit differently, namely that I'll be aiming for 4-6 matches per show instead of the usual 7 to 9. This means that people will be booked, I hope, more purposefully, and also less judging on my end, and also less need to keep the creative drive going. All of that is to allow me to focus on a great show. And if people want to be booked every show, they can be - they may just have more dark matches (and I may do something where these matches turn into website specials, etc.). Of course, people can submit segments too, but all of this should allow me, especially on weeks where I may have limited help for whatever reason, to keep the focus on what is necessary and limit the amount of extra work. Writing a five match show solo is far more manageable when I get busy with work than a seven match show solo.

I have a few other ideas also but I'll allow those to be revealed more as I book. One thing that will also help is that I'm teaching a bit less than I have been in recent years, so I hopefully will not have as many commitments there, but also, I'll hopefully not be as burnt out when I'm using a lot of similar skills at a time.
