Team Desire | "Getting Serious"

Katie Steward drives her Porsche around the streets of Los Angeles. She is stuck in deep thought thinking about her future and her current path and goals. Thinking about what she had done in 2023 might not have been big to  people that only watched her, but to Katie, she knew that 2023 was a huge change. Last year everything in her world came crashing down around her. Katie was on her own. Her Brats disbanded and her and Gigi haven’t been on good terms lately. It was a year of trial for Katie. 2024, she can fix it. She might not be reuniting with her Brats, but she can fix things with Gigi. Together they can still achieve their dream.

Katie arrives at her destination pulling up to Gigi’s apartment. She gets out of the car and walks up to the apartment. She is a bit nervous not having called beforehand to tell Gigi she was on her way. Kind of a spur of the moment type thing with Katie being all up in her head thinking of things. Katie knocks on the door then waits for an answer.

Ash opens the door for Katie. “Katie, Hi, I wasn't expecting you.”

“Sorry, I just had a lot on my mind and I wanted to see Gigi. Is she here?” Katie walks inside the apartment and stands by Ash.

“No. She’s not here  right now.” Ash’s eyes move around looking around the room. “I don’t know when she'll be back either.”

“Ah that’s too bad. I really needed to talk to her.” Katie looks away with her head down. Disappointed, she missed Gigi. “I was hoping we would spend the day together. Go shopping or something.”

Gigi’s head lifts up from behind a table. “Shopping?” She picks herself up from behind the table and stands. She wasn’t hiding or anything like that.

“Oh, Gigi there you are. I must’ve not seen up there.” Ash says trying to act like she really didn’t know.

“Sorry, I was just looking for a pen. I dropped. I really liked that pen.” Gigi explains trying to make up a story with Ash so Katie can buy it. Buying the story that Gigi was not hiding. Which of course, she wasn't.

Katie’s eyes shift in between her two daughters. They wonder just how much they’ve learned from her. How good their lies were to fool her.

Katie just shakes her head and smiles. “Gigi, I’m happy I caught you. I really need to talk to you about things.”

“Oh well, I’m here. What did you want to talk about? I think I heard something about shopping?”

“We can. Whatever you want. I just need to talk. We can spend the day together, just you and I.” Katie puts her hands together hoping that Gigi is up for it.

“Well I guess that would make me the third wheel then.” Ash sees her reason to be excluded from the group.

“I’m sorry, Ash. We could do something later. I just really need Gigi right now.” Katie pleads with her trying not to hurt her. Katie doesn’t want to make them both upset with her.

“It’s ok, Katie. I’m not upset. You two have fun on your night out. Don’t keep her out too late.” Ash smiles nudging Gigi towards the door.

“So you know, I wasn’t hiding.” Gigi tries to explain the situation earlier.

“I know. You were looking for a pen.” Katie smiles at her. “So…”

“What?” Gigi looks at Katie confused.

“Who is the boy you liked? That is why you liked the pen so much?” Katie laughs.

“Oh Goddess. You know, I was hiding. Did a total nosedive behind the table when I smelled your perfume outside.” Gigi comes clean and lets it all off her chest. Katie just laughs it off. Who really knows what the truth is?

Later in the day, after Katie and Gigi had finished their brief shopping trip. They found themselves at TJ’s restaurant and sitting at a booth together for dinner.

“Well that was fun.” Gigi smiles.

“Yes. Now we get down to some business.” Katie nods her head.

“Right, you wanted to talk about something.” Gigi sits up and places her arms on the table. Ready for what Katie wants to talk about.

“As you know 2023 and a different perspective for me. A lot happened that I didn’t think would, but now 2024 is a new and different feeling for me.” Gigi watches Katie find her words. The strange feeling that it was to see Katie portray a vulnerability. “And I think we need to get serious and finally win the tag team titles.”

Gigi nods her head. She’s not that surprised by Katie’s request. She knows the tag titles are something that Katie wants. To finish her quest. It was something her and Katie clashed on a little bit. Although something was off by what Katie said. “What do you mean, ‘get serious’?”

“There is a lot of competition for the tag team titles and it’s not going to be easy to pull this off. Everyone rather wants to see us fail than succeed.”

“Yes, I know this. You becoming Supreme Champion puts you in your own special place that no one can touch.” Gigi shakes her head. “But, I am serious. I just faced La Puquena Luz for the Television title. I’ve never been more serious.”

“Yes. You gave her your best, but we need to be better. We are better. We are better together.” Katie tries hard to reel Gigi in. For Team Desire to stand on a united front.

Gigi sits there. Not saying a word. She nettles about thinking about what Katie said. Annoyed that Katie put her in this position.

“I know it’s not what you want, but like I said. 2023 was an interesting year. We need to make 2024 different. We can both make this year our year for every goal that is on our list.” Katie continues to try and reach out to Gigi.
“And why do you get to go first?” Gigi asks with a serious tone.

“Because I’m here and not under a table looking for a pen.” Katie didn’t think. Her snipe just slipped out. The shot hits Gigi hard.

“Because I was avoiding you?”

“I didn’t think the Brats would leave me like they did. I tried running so I didn’t hurt them, but they found me and we ended up breaking up. I can’t even talk to them without violating the Brats’ court order. It was a clean break. No turning back. This isn’t what I want for us.” Katie throws it all out there hoping Gigi hears her. “We need to get serious. Together and finish our quest.”

Gigi sits there in the booth. Her head down looking at the table. Katie’s words run through her mind. “I do take this seriously and whatever happens. I will do whatever is necessary. To finish whatever quest needs to be completed.”

Gigi stands up and walks out of the restaurant. Leaving Katie disappointed with the outcome of their talk.

Gigi walks back and sits in the booth again across from Katie. “You were the one that drove here. So let’s just sit here and think of how to complete our quests in silence then.

Katie nods “Whatever you want.”

“So things didn’t go exactly to plan. Gigi still wants to pursue her own quests.  It's ok. At least she's on my side and we'll both focus on winning. So at least there is that. There is still time to get her to follow along.Breakdown we have The playgirls and as unfun as that sounds. It’ll be a good test for us to get on the same page. For Team Desire to (sighs) work their way to earning (ew!) a shot at the tag team championship. My Goddess, why does he make this so dumb?” -Katie Steward

“Uh I can’t believe her. She is just so annoying. Telling me to take things more seriously. Where does she get off telling me this? She’s the one that goes off with some wacky film arc to appease her fans. So Breakdown we have the playgirls to fend off if we want to have our names in the race for the tag titles. I’ll show her how serious I can be. Like to see her catch up if she can. It doesn’t matter what title it is. I’ll have gold around my waist in 2024!” -Giovanna Steward

“I mean I don’t have any problem… ‘working’ to earn (eye rolls), but throwing the playgirls in the match? I told Gigi that we need to get serious and if we don’t completely destroy them. Maybe we don’t deserve this. Oooh, that’s what he meant by earning it. It’s still dumb though.” -Katie Steward

“I’m sorry to Colleen and Aisling. It’s not going to be fair to you girls. You’ll be standing in the path of a freight train and I as of right now have a lot to unload. This is how our dynamic is going to work going forward, I guess. Katie is just going to keep poking me and I’ll just take my aggression out in the ring. Maybe though I'm being too hard. I do want to win the titles with Katie. I’d love to do that. She deserves it. I deserve it. Just saying I need to be more serious when I already know I give everything to her quest. We’re going to win. Colleen and Aisling are a good team, but they don’t have the importance to win this match as we do.” -Giovanna Steward

“I just don’t want to lose Gigi too. Losing the Brats was painful. I felt so lost. Losing Gigi too would be the end of me. I need her. Honestly, who else do I have? Who else is deserving if not Gigi. I’m not going to lose her. I’ll give Gigi everything that she wants. We’re going to start beating the playgirls and earning our shot at the tag titles. Nope. That still sounds dumb. Why does he hate me?” -Katie Steward
