Glory Braddock had made it her mission to return to the singles ranks and make her climb back to the top. It began tonight on Breakdown with her match against Brilliant Sun Princess YUSA, one of the members of the very successful Shining Maidens. This wasn’t her first run in with the group, she had encountered them once before in tag team action in the lead up to Rise To Greatness. Now, after a second encounter with this group, The British Bombshell was already becoming well acquainted with them and how they operate. And fate, with its own sick twisted sense of humor, saw fit to once again put Glory Braddock in a close encounter with The Shining Maidens. This time she won’t be standing in opposition to them; instead she will be their ally. The Trios Tournament is now on the horizon, the teams have been drawn, and Glory Braddock will be teaming with none other than the premier member of the Shining Maidens, the SCW Adrenaline Champion Magical Cosmic Princess YUYO. This pairing will certainly be advantageous and awkward at the same time. It is an advantage in the sense that there is certainly familiarity here between The British Bombshell and YUYO. This isn’t the first time Braddock has had to dance with The Shining Maidens. Yet it is also awkward in the sense that the last few encounters were as enemies. Glory and YUYO will have to put the past behind them and work together towards the common goal of winning those prestigious Trios Contracts.
The Shining Maidens and YUYO aren’t the only advantageous yet awkward alliance created here with Glory’s draw in Trios. The third member of this unlikely trio is Gavin Taylor. The British Bombshell and The All Star have their own history as enemies in SCW. Braddock successfully defended the Adrenaline Title against Gavin a couple of years ago. But once again, there is a familiarity there. Despite their history as enemies, they do know one another. They know how each other operates. Another thing Glory and Gavin have in common is their history of success in the Trios Tournament. Both have won Trios before. This year Gavin is looking to win his second Trios Tournament while Braddock is looking to win her third. The experience of success in Trios is something Gavin and Glory bring to the table that YUYO does not. YUYO has yet to win a Trios. So despite this unlikely, unusual, randomly drawn team, The British Bombshell feels confident that this could very well be the recipe of a successful Trios Team.
Braddock, YUYO, and Gavin will face their first test next week. The Quarter Finals and Semi Finals of the tournament take place on Breakdown and they will be taking on Kirsten Scott, Wil Pierce, and Leroy Adams in the first round. Pierce certainly has his history with both Glory Braddock and The Shining Maidens, as his Shinigami Foundation interfered in the tag team match between Twisted & Sadistic and The Shining Maidens, cheating them and the fans out of a clear and decisive winner. If there was one way to create a unified front for this trio of Glory, Gavin, and YUYO, then this is it. Glory and The Magical Cosmic Princess both want some sort of payback against Wil Pierce. This first round match in Trios certainly gives them that opportunity.
The British Bombshell recognizes that she cannot rely just on petty revenge or selfish desire for success to bring herself and her partners together. It will take much more than that to win this Trios Tournament. But she only just now learned of the Trios Tournament draw. She is also just coming off of her return to the singles ranks after a match against Shining Maiden YUSA. It is too early to begin to think about that right now. Right now, Glory plans to just go back to her hotel and get some sleep before catching a flight out of town to get back home to Miami.
Glory Braddock steps into the lobby of her hotel, The Omni, in Oklahoma City. Despite the challenges that she faces going forward with Trios, she still displays an aura of confidence. She has won this event twice before. She is confident she can do it again. Her attire is simple; a pair of fitted blue jeans that hug her athletic frame, worn sneakers that speak of long travels, and a plain purple shirt that adds a pop of color to her otherwise modest appearance. Her long, blonde hair cascading down her back in soft waves. The muted lighting of the hotel lobby casts soft shadows on her face, highlighting her natural beauty, while the quiet hum of the lobby contrasts with her subtle air of authority. She walks with purpose, every step light yet intentional, yet still surveying her surroundings with a quiet alertness. Braddock steps up to the front desk. The desk clerk, a young man with short brown hair dressed nicely in a navy blue polo and khaki pants, turns to face Glory, smiling politely.
“Good evening. How may I help you?”
“Just checking in to see when the continental breakfast will be served tomorrow? I plan to try and leave early tomorrow.”
“The breakfast will be served at seven in the morning. But you do not have to check out until one in the afternoon.”
“I understand.” Glory nods her head and smiles back at him. “But I do need to get a jump start tomorrow. Thank you.”
“Have a good evening.”
With that, Glory Braddock turns and starts to walk off. She approaches the elevator but stops dead in her tracks. She catches something, or rather someone, out of the corner of her eye. She turns and, much to her surprise, she spots her younger sister, Julia Braddock, sitting in one of the comfortable chairs in the lobby. Julia wore a crisp, white blouse, fitted yet delicate, with subtle lace detailing along the cuffs and collar. The blouse was tucked into a sleek black mini skirt, its fabric hugging her hips and emphasizing her poised silhouette. Her legs were accentuated by sheer black stockings, which gleamed subtly with each step she took, adding a layer of sophistication to her appearance. On her feet, she wore black stiletto heels, which had a glossy finish, complementing the overall polished yet stylish look. Julia playfully waves at her older sister. Glory walks over towards her.
“Julia? What are you doing here?”
“What is it, Gloria?” Julia asks as she stands up, feigning surprise. “Are you not happy to see me?”
“It isn’t that.” Glory shakes her head. “I’m always happy to see you. It’s just that I’m surprised. The last time I saw you was just a week ago. You were in London.”
“Yes and I decided to travel to Breakdown and see you compete.” Julia embraces Glory in a tight hug. After breaking the embrace Julia winks. “Is there anything wrong with wanting to watch my big sister wrestle?”
“No, I suppose not.” Glory furrows her brow as she studies Julia closely. She is still a little skeptical. “Or are you here because Aphrodite wants you to keep an eye on me?”
“Maybe?” Julia says with a light laugh. “I mean, she did suggest that you and I spend more time together. So what’s wrong with me stopping by to watch Breakdown?”
“You could have given me a heads up. Had I known you would be making this trip to Oklahoma City just to watch me I would have tried to get you some backstage passes or something.”
“The five star treatment? Just for me?”
“I know how much you have gotten used to being treated like royalty.” Glory says flatly. Julia smirks knowingly.
“You know me so well.” Julia shrugs. “But it doesn’t matter. I was just as happy watching like any other fan. And I am your biggest fan, after all.”
“I appreciate it.” Glory remarks. She motions towards the elevator. “Come on, let’s go up to my room. We can continue our conversation there.”
“Sounds fine to me. But I can’t stay long. I don’t want to stay here in Oklahoma any longer than I have to.”
Glory Braddock does her best not to roll her eyes as she leads Julia over to the elevator and step inside. She pushes the button to send the elevator to the second floor. Julia Braddock didn’t used to be as stuck up and snobbish as this. She used to be far more grounded and down to earth than even Glory herself. Yet times change and so do people. One thing that has not changed is the closeness and the bond that these sisters share for one another. It is a big surprise that Julia randomly stopped by to watch her compete tonight, but it is not an unwelcome one. The elevator sounds a ding as it comes to a stop, indicating that they have arrived at their destination. The elevator doors open. Glory Braddock steps out first followed by Julia who follows her older sister down the hall. Glory eventually comes to a stop in front of a hotel room door. She uses her key card to unlock it. Then she pushes the door open and steps inside. The hotel room is definitely nice but nowhere near as kept. Clothes are strewn about and the bed has not been made, indicating that hotel staff have not visited yet to clean up. Julia sits down on the edge of the bed and chuckles.
“A little sloppy, sis?”
“I know it isn’t up to your standards, Julia, but you’ll live.” Glory walks over to the minifridge. She opens it and produces two bottles of water. She tosses one at Julia who catches it. “I know it isn’t wine but it’s the best I got.”
“Fair enough.” Julia opens the bottled water and takes a swig. Glory sits down next to her. She looks over at Julia and smiles warmly.
“I am glad that you came.”
“Don’t mention it. Like you said, we need to look out for each other, right?”
“Sure.”
“Speaking of looking out for each other,” Julia begins “I would be remiss if I didn’t ask you how you were feeling? I mean, your return to singles competition hasn’t exactly gone as planned, has it?”
“What are you talking about?” Glory Braddock asks, genuinely surprised by this opening line of questions from her sister. Julia shrugs her shoulders.
“I mean, after Rise To Greatness when you failed to win the tag team titles, you wanted to go back to being a singles competitor so that you didn’t have to rely on someone carrying their weight in order to win. But I heard that the Trios Tournament is back and now, once again, you find yourself in a partnership hoping that your partners will hold up their end of the bargain?”
“Oh for God’s sake…” Glory rolls her eyes “...I can forgive you for that completely ignorant assessment of my situation, because you have never been an officially contracted SCW wrestler and thus have no idea what the Trios Tournament means. But I have been in the Trios Tournament four times. I have won two of those four Trios Tournaments. I know what winning this tournament can do for a career.”
“Ok, ok, you might know how to win this Trios Tournament, but honestly, Gloria, do you really believe that this Trios Tournament can make you a success story?” Julia smirks knowingly as she takes another swig of her water. “What happened to those two Trios Contract Cash Ins of yours?”
The British Bombshell sighs and nods her head. As much as she doesn’t want to admit it, her sister does raise a good point. Her previous two Trios Contracts were not the most successful. She cashed in on then World Champion David Helms but couldn’t win the title. She used one Trios Contract to put herself into the main event of Rise To Greatness, to create a triple threat scenario in hopes to ensure then World Champion Syren lost the World Title. In that scenario yes, Syren did lose the world title, but it wasn’t to Glory Braddock. Syren lost the title to Alistaire Allocco. Glory Braddock has won the Trios Tournament twice but neither time did her cash ins turn out to be very fruitful. It is something that has weighed heavily on Glory’s mind as this year’s Trios Tournament drawings were announced. If Glory and her teammates of YUYO and Gavin were to pull this off and win, can Glory Braddock finally create a successful cash in?
“This will be different, Julia.” Glory says with a hint of determination in her voice, enough to seemingly disarm her younger sister. “Trust me on that.”
“I trust you.” Julia says, nodding her head slowly. “It isn’t every day that you get the opportunity to book any match you want. Wielding that sort of power, well, it doesn’t happen very often. You’ve wielded it twice and failed both times. But you are just like our father…determined and stubborn to never give up…I trust you won’t fail for a third time in a row.”
“Thanks, Julia.” Glory sighs. “For a moment there I thought you traveled all this way from London just to tell me how much of a loser I am.”
“Nothing of the sort.” Julia shakes her head and laughs lightly. “I’m just here to help. And before you even begin to think about how you plan to use this contract that you haven’t even won yet, you need to focus on the tournament itself.” Julia smirks. “Who are your partners this year, anyway?”
“YUYO and Gavin Taylor.”
“Seriously?” Julia asks. Glory nods her head. Julia immediately bursts into laughter. The British Bombshell grows a little annoyed. She shakes her head.
“What’s so damn funny?”
“You get to team with The cosplay anime girl and the egomaniac who you’ve beaten a few times?” She winks. “Sucks to be you.”
“Don’t knock my tag team partners.” Glory shakes her head. “YUYO may not be the toughest most intimidating presence you will come across, but she has been kicking ass since returning to SCW. She is the reigning SCW Adrenaline Champion.”
“And how about that history you have with YUYO’s little band of maidens?” Julia asks. “When do you become the newest maiden because I am SURE that will come up!”
“Don’t start…” Glory warns, but it is of no use…
“Shining Bombshell GLOBRA!” Julia says excitedly. “Or Brilliant Princess GLO!” Julia snickers.
“Shut it.”
“You dressed like one of those lolita tarts.” Julia snickers. “It’ll be hilarious!”
“We’re just tag team partners for the tournament.” Glory insists. “I am NOT becoming one of them. Besides, it isn’t like it’s just me and YUYO…”
“Right, right, there’s Gavin Taylor, the guy you have beaten before.” Julia shakes her head. “How exactly is he going to be an asset on this team?”
“There you go again, not giving people their due credit.” Glory remarks with a shake of her head. “Gavin pushed me to my limit when I defended the Adrenaline Title against him a few years ago. Also in case you forgot, Gavin Taylor himself is a former Trios Tournament winner. So that makes two people on our team who not only have a history in this tournament but know how to WIN this tournament. So is Gavin an asset?” Glory nods her head. “Yes, he is.”
“An asset?” Julia shrugs. “More like an asshole.”
“He might be that.” Glory shrugs her shoulders. “But I have confidence that he will do his job.”
“I hope you’re right. For your sake I do hope you are right.” Julia finishes off the water in her bottle with one big swig and then tosses the bottle aside. “I know how important it is for you to get your career in SCW back on track after the disappointing Rise To Greatness. I just don’t want to see you disappointed with Trios on top of it all.”
Julia stands up. Glory stands up. They embrace in a tight hug. “Remember, Gloria, I am only here to help you. We have to stick together, you know? We have to watch each other’s backs. That’s what sisters are for.”
“Yeah, thanks.” Glory nods her head after they break the embrace. “Thanks for visiting. Will you be coming next week for Trios?”
“Maybe. Where is it?”
“Boise, Idaho.”
“Oh God…” Julia rolls her eyes “...maybe, maybe not…” she shrugs her shoulders “...let’s see if I can stomach being in Idaho.”
“I’m sure you can manage.”
Julia shrugs her shoulders as she turns and walks towards the door. She opens it and makes her exit. Glory sits back down on the sofa. She does like being around her sister. She agrees with Aphrodite, she needs to spend more time with Julia. But Julia has changed a great deal. She is not the same person she once was. Julia means well but her attitude and behavior is a far cry from the sister she once knew. Something has changed, something is different, and she isn’t sure what brought about the change. Still, something tells her that being with her sister right now is for the best. Maybe some of her good traits can rub off on Julia? She just has to hope none of Julia’s newfound bad, negative traits rub off on her.
Glory also realizes that Julia does make some solid points. She had wanted to return to the singles division, where she controlled her own destiny, and yet now, after only one match into her return to the singles division, she is already in a situation where her destiny is partially in the hands of Gavin Taylor and YUYO. But if the three of them can work together and win this Trios Tournament, then Glory Braddock will truly hold her own destiny with the palm of her hands. She will truly wield some power with that Trios Contract. And perhaps this time she can make it work to her advantage.
