Life had been looking up for Clyde Sutter. The Assassin had managed to regain a semblance of control over his anger and rage and that led to a reconciliation with the love of his life, Melinda Braddock. His career in professional wrestling, a career he once thought was dead in the water, started picking up; he even got a second chance to compete in Supreme Championship Wrestling. Despite his SCW return not being as successful as he had hoped, the mere fact that he has made it back, the fact that he has another opportunity to correct the mistakes of the past, means a great deal to Sutter. And he gets to do all of this alongside his beloved Melinda Braddock. From the outside looking in, it would appear as if Clyde Sutter is truly living his dream. What could possibly go wrong?
Unfortunately that is when a woman he had never thought existed, let alone would return, came back to his life, returned to make his life miserable; his sister, Lilith Sutter. He didn’t even know he had a sister, he didn’t know Lilith existed. Their father, Ethan Sutter, was promiscuous to say the very least. So the fact that he had a sister should not have come as much of a surprise. What she wants from him is the frustrating part; Lilith seems hell bent upon dragging Clyde kicking and screaming into her world, a world of organized crime. Lilith wants to tear her brother away from everything and everyone that he holds dear so that she can have him all to herself. Her most recent attempt was to frame him for being unfaithful to Melinda. Melinda saw right through the trick but Melinda’s mother, Glory Braddock, fell for it, which created a lot of tension within the family. The Assassin was forced to confront Lilith at her home in Southampton, England in hopes of forcing her to back down from her crazy goal and hopefully forcing her to leave Clyde alone. Did he succeed? Only time will tell. Clyde can only go one day at a time hoping that he will never again hear from his sister. Still, the harassment he endured from Lilith has already worn down his defenses. He had worked hard to control his anger but, thanks to Lilith’s constant harassment, Clyde is finding himself once again losing it. He fears that he may snap, which ultimately is what Lilith wants. He refuses to give Lilith the satisfaction of knowing she succeeded. He knows that he needs to get back in control of his anger, he cannot afford to snap and risk losing everything he worked so hard to gain from his family, his beloved Melinda, and his career.
The Assassin has made an appointment to see his psychiatrist. Dr. Evelyn Carter is the brilliant mind behind Clyde’s drastic turnaround. She helped him gain control of his formerly uncontrollable rage. He hopes she can work her magic once again and help him to regain control, and maybe help him to put this business with his sister Lilith in the rearview mirror. Now Sutter sits in the tastefully furnished office of Dr. Evelyn Carter. The walls are painted a muted, calming blue. Against this backdrop, a polished wooden desk stands as the room’s central feature, its rich grain reflecting the light in subtle, glossy patterns. The desk is neatly arranged, with a few hardcover books stacked to one side and a sleek, minimalist brass desk lamp resting beside them. Its curved, elegant frame and matte black shade suggest both practicality and style, hinting at an occupant who values function without sacrificing aesthetics. In the background, a pair of plush, cognac-brown leather sofas face the desk, their button-tufted cushions showing faint creases from frequent use. The leather is worn just enough to look invitingly comfortable rather than neglected, giving off a faint, musky scent of aged upholstery. The Assassin finds himself seated on one such sofa. He is wearing a black leather coat with a fur lined collar. Underneath, he wears a plain white t-shirt. His pants are light beige or taupe, fitted but comfortable, complementing the laid-back yet assertive style. On his feet, he wears black shoes with a practical design. His long hair flows freely. Above the sofa hangs an abstract painting. The carpeting underfoot is a muted slate blue, softening footsteps and lending a sense of warmth to the space. It’s a room designed for quiet focus, yet it carries an atmosphere that seems to whisper of secrets, confidences, and perhaps a few unspoken regrets. Sitting on the adjacent sofa is Dr. Evelyn Carter. Evelyn is wearing black dress pants, simple black flats, a sky blue silk blouse, and a white lab coat. Her long black hair is pulled into a ponytail in the back. She has a pleasant smile on her face as she stares across into the stoic eyes of The Assassin.
“Good afternoon, Clyde. I am so glad that you made it.”
“I would never think of missing these appointments, Dr. Carter…” his voice trails off “...my goal is important, as you well know.”
“Yes, having goals to meet are important. And you wish to control your anger. Correct?”
“Well of course. But I have many goals…I want to my relationship with my beloved, with Melinda, to continue to blossom. I want to continue to form closer bonds with her family and my mother’s family. And I want my career as a professional wrestler to flourish.” He smirks. “I want to be a champion in SCW.”
“Yes, and all of those goals are connected to your anger, because as you have admitted in the past, if you lose control you risk losing everything else. That is why we are here. But goals are important, so let’s talk about some of these goals shall we? Does that sound good?”
“Whatever you say, Dr. Carter.” Sutter nods his head. “You are the psychiatrist, not me.”
“Excellent. So tell me about your career. I know you really wanted to make a return to SCW. How has that been going?”
“Slower than I had hoped.” The Assassin chuckles softly as he runs a hand through his long black hair. “Perhaps I thought too highly of myself and expected too much of myself too early? Needless to say, there have been setbacks, but I am focused. My sights are set on the SCW Television Championship.” He gives Evelyn Carter a quick, knowing, gaze. “Goals are important, correct Dr. Carter? My goal is the Television Title.”
“Setting goals is very important, that’s right.” She nods her head. “I am proud of you for setting goals for yourself. But understand that goals we set will not always be met with instant success. There will be bumps in the road.”
“I know this, doctor. The road back to SCW has been long and hard and in the process I have learned patience. I can afford to be patient a little longer in order to pry that championship away from Ryan Lecavlier.”
Dr. Evelyn Carter arches a brow out of curiosity. The idea if ‘prying’ a championship away from someone sounds rather insidious but then again, this is professional wrestling. As they say, it is not ballet. So she dismisses his remark and decides to change the direction of the conversation.
“It seems as if your SCW career is thriving. So let’s move on and discuss a major point of contention for you, the reason you wanted to have more frequent sessions in the first place. Of course I am referring to your sister…Lilith, isn’t it?”
“Yes.” Clyde sighs and nods his head. The mere mention of his sister’s name brings up bad memories and causes his anger to rise. It takes all of his will power to keep himself in control at this very moment.
“Tell me, have you had any contact with her recently?”
“Yes…and she stepped way over the line.” Despite his attempts to conceal his anger, Sutter inadvertently lets out a low growl. “She attempted to frame me for infidelity she attempted to trick my beloved’s family into thinking I had been having an affair.”
“Were you having an affair?” Carter asks. This question nearly sends Sutter flying off the handle.
“No! How could you ask such a question?!” Clyde is yelling now, his anger boiling over. Dr. Carter, to her credit, maintains her composure. She has seen this before from The Assassin and knows to handle him even at his worst.
“Calm down, Clyde. I am not accusing you of anything. I’m just doing my job.”
“I…” Clyde shakes his head as he breathes in and out heavily to calm himself “...I apologize. You must understand that Melinda Braddock means the entire world to me. I have always loved her and I would do anything for her. Everything I have done, especially seeing you to help fix my anger management issues, all of it was for her. It was for Melinda. Everything I do now is for her. The idea that I would throw it all away for a one night stand with some no name harlot is ludicrous. Furthermore, my sister knew full well that my beloved would not fall for her tricks.”
“Then why did Lilith do it? Why did she attempt to frame you?”
“Because she knew that Melinda’s mother WOULD fall for it.” Sutter growls angrily. “My sister was trying to create tension between my beloved and my beloved’s mother in order to somehow prove a point.”
“And what point would that be?”
“My sister believes that I should live with her, live like her, be with her. She wants the Sutter family united.” He shakes his head. “Hopefully my sister will no longer be a problem.”
“Did you do something I should be aware of?” Dr. Carter asks curiously.
“Nothing illegal, I assure you.” He chuckles. “I just merely confronted her and told her in no uncertain terms that I wanted nothing to do with her or her proposal. Hopefully she will take the hint and leave me alone.”
There is a brief pause while Clyde and Evelyn lock eyes. The Assassin can tell that this psychiatrist is not convinced. The look on her face is one of skepticism. Dr. Carter sighs and shakes her head.
“Look, Clyde, I hope that your sister does leave you alone, unfortunately I fear that it won’t be as easy as you think. I cannot say anything definitive about your sister without having met her, but from the way you describe her she seems like the type who will not give up so easily. So you might need to prepare yourself mentally and emotionally for another encounter.”
“And what exactly do you suggest?” Clyde asks, leaning forward, his stoic eyes glaring into Evelyn’s.
“I suggest that maybe you should dig deeper and confront not just the visible, physical point of contention, but confront the figurative one as well. Perhaps you have some deeper issues involving father figures in your life.”
“Please, Dr. Carter, do not insult me.” Sutter chuckles softly as he leans back on the sofa. “Yes, I hate my father and everything he represents. But he is dead and gone and that rage that his own memory brought to me, all of that anger, I have dealt with it.” He shakes his head. “Now when I think of my father…when I think of Ethan Sutter…I feel nothing. Trust me, Dr. Carter, I have no issues involving father figures.”
“That’s not exactly what I meant, Clyde.” She answers back quickly. “I am wondering if maybe you need a father figure in your life.”
“I have done well enough on my own without a father figure.” Clyde laughs again.
“With all due respect, Clyde, you have had a father figure in the past. What was his name? Mason Van Stanton?”
Another name that brings back bad memories for Clyde Sutter. He was the man who got Sutter’s foot in the door in professional wrestling and in SCW but it was out of selfishness. Mason Van Stanton used Sutter to spitefully strike at Glory Braddock, someone he hated with a passion. The Assassin was in a darker place at that time and far more easily manipulated at that time. His relationship with Mason Van Stanton did not end well.
“The mere notion of Mason as a father figure is ridiculous…” he sneers “...with all due respect. He manipulated and used me for his own selfish gain.”
“Ok, maybe that was a bad example and sure, there are bad father figures out there, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find a good father figure. It doesn’t mean you don’t potentially need one.” Evelyn answers back. “Clyde, your real father…who you never met in the first place…was an awful human being. You had to raise yourself on the streets without any real father figure. Maybe having some strong father figure in your life is what you need to give you a stronger mental and emotional foundation to help you defend yourself against your sister’s advances if she does return?
Sutter still thinks that having a father figure in his life is not what he needs. He wouldn’t even know where to begin to find one. Still, the psychiatrist, Dr. Carter, she raises a valid point. His sister Lilith just might return and might continue playing her mind games with him. Lilith just might continue playing her games until she succeeds in causing Clyde to lose control. Then he risks losing everything he has worked hard to gain. Would a father figure, some sort of mentor even, help him? He has his doubts but, then again, what does he have to lose?

Breakdown from Salt Lake City, Utah has come and gone. “The Assassin” Clyde Sutter had made it abundantly clear at Retribution that still wanted the SCW Television Title. Tonight once again he made his presence felt by going after the champion. Chaos ensued, which was no problem for Sutter. He thrives on that kind of chaos. Now he has been informed that, in one week, he gets what he wants; he gets an opportunity at the Television Title against champion Ryan Lecavalier and fellow challenger Adam Brock in a triple threat ladder match. CHBK, along with most of the SCW fans, falsely assume that The Assassin will be upset with this turn of events. Quite the contrary. Clyde Sutter is confident that Fate not only is in control but that Fate is on his side. It doesn’t matter what the match will entail, the fate of the SCW Television Title is sealed. The championship will come home with him and his beloved. The smile on Sutter’s face might have to be surgically removed from his face, not only because he now has the title shot, but he also has Melinda Braddock wrapped around his arm as the pair walk through the backstage area of the Delta Center in Salt Lake City. They accomplished what they set out to do and they are definitely proud of themselves.
“You did a good job out there, babe.” Melinda says jovially. “You played Ryan…Brock…and CHBK like a damn fiddle.”
“And you did well yourself, my love.” Sutter plants a kiss on her forehead. “You played your part magnificently.”
“Yeah, I did.” She grins knowingly. “We make a great team.”
“Indeed we do. Next week, WE bring home the SCW Television Championship by climbing the literal and figurative ladder to success…all while leaving the broken bodies of Ms. Lecavalier and Mr. Brock in the dust.”
“I love how you think.”
The Assassin and Melinda continue to head down the twists and turns of the backstage area. Melinda allows herself to be led by the imposing Sutter until suddenly they come to a stop. Melinda looks up at him with confusion on her face.
“Babe, what’s wrong?” She asks. Clyde points over to a far corner. Melinda notices a man standing there. She is shocked to see that it’s Mason Van Stanton, Clyde’s former manager. “Oh…”
“Stay here.”
“You don’t have to ask me twice.”
He gives her a kiss before turning and storming over in the direction of Mason Van Stanton, the con artist that once served as his manager. He locks eyes with Mason who seems unbothered and unintimidated by his presence.
“What the hell do you want?!” Sutter asks angrily. “What are you doing here?!”
“Nice seeing you too, nephew.” Mason asks with a snicker. This small bit of laughter, this failed attempt at humor, just angers The Assassin further.
“You are not family.” He snaps back angrily. “Now tell me. What do you want?”
“Well your mother IS married to my brother. Don’t let details get in the way of a good story, Clyde.” Mason shrugs his shoulders. “But hey, if you want to get down to the nitty gritty then that’s fine. I can do that.”
“It would be in your best interest to do so.” Clyde growls. “My patience with you is wearing thin.”
“Fine!” Mason rolls his eyes. “Look I still have a vested interest in you and your career, Clyde. We may not have ended on the best of notes but I did get you started in wrestling. I got you your first contract right here in SCW. Now I admit that I was using you but you have to admit that you owe me at least to some degree for getting you started. And me? I want to see something I put time and money into pay off. So I have been keeping up with you, even after we parted ways. And…well…” his voice trails off. Sutter continues to grow impatient.
“Spit it out, Mason.”
“Look, I just want to know how things are going with your…your sister.”
This comment took Sutter completely by surprise. He wasn’t expecting this, not at all. The surprise quickly turns to anger. Sutter grabs Mason by the collar of his shirt.
“How the hell do you know about my sister?!”
“Whoa, hold on, Clyde, don’t do something we’ll both regret!” He sighs with some sense of relief as Clyde lets him go. “Look, you know from the time you spent as my client that I have a ton of resources. If I want to know something about someone, I can. And like I said, you are an investment. I have been keeping up with you. And yes, I heard that this woman, Lilith Sutter, that she resurfaced and I…” Mason shrugs his shoulders “...I was just genuinely concerned about you.”
“You were worried about me?”
“Yes.” Mason nods. “I know about how your past makes you…well…angry. I know how it bothers you. I just wanted to check in on you. I wanted to make sure you were ok.”
“I find that highly dubious.” Clyde shakes his head. “You were likely using that as an excuse to worm your way back into my good graces. You said yourself that you have been keeping up with me. You saw the success I have had since returning to SCW and now you want a piece of the action.”
“Hey, I won’t deny being jealous of your success, Clyde, and I admit that I was manipulative in the past, but I assure you that I am being sincere.” Mason insists. “I know your past history of anger problems. I just want to make sure that with your sister resurfacing that your rage hasn’t become a problem, that’s all. I would hate to see you lose everything.”
“You sound fake, Mason.” Clyde shakes his head. “But if you are sincere, then you have nothing to worry about. I am finished with my sister. I told her that I want nothing more to do with her.”
“And you’re sure that she took the hint?” Mason asks.
“If she remains stubborn its her funeral.”
“Fair enough.” Mason snickers. “Just be careful, ok? Don’t trust anyone.”
“I trust no one.” He points a finger at Mason. “Especially not you.”
“Then I taught you well.” Mason snickers knowingly. “You know, we made a great team once upon a time. Are you sure you wouldn’t be interested in renewing our partnership?”
“So you DO want to worm your way back into my career?” Sutter says coldly. Mason smirks.
“Hey, you can’t blame a guy for trying right? Besides, the worst thing that could happen is you tell me no.”
“You are wrong. There are far worse things I could do to you…that I WANT to do to you…” Sutter shakes his head. “...I am not the monster you met long ago. So in response to your proposal, I respectfully decline. My beloved handles my career quite well.”
“Braddock’s daughter?” Mason scoffs. “Well…I admit, she got you a Television Title Match.”
“I intend to win it.” Sutter says pointedly.
“And I have all the confidence in the world that you will.”
