The city lights of St. Louis glittered through the hotel room’s broad window. The view beyond included historic buildings rising like ghosts between newer glass towers, the shimmering arch of the Gateway Monument barely visible through the thick, humid haze of the evening. Inside the upscale suite, the temperature had already dropped to a chilly hum, courtesy of the aggressively efficient air conditioning that hummed above. The room itself was tasteful, modern but not sterile: soft taupe walls, rich mahogany furniture, and a king-sized bed fitted with pristine white linens and an obnoxiously decorative number of pillows. A sleek leather armchair sat near a circular table littered with glossy local magazines and a complimentary fruit basket, untouched and already beginning to brown at the edges. A black rolling suitcase stood just inside the doorway, flanked by a burst of mismatched luggage and a duffel bag that had clearly seen too many locker rooms. The door clicked open with a soft mechanical sigh, and in burst Kimberly Williams like a fireball colliding with polite society. She spun once inside the entryway, arms wide, eyes glittering with theatrical glee. The Woman Scorned wears a more toned down version of her usual attire that includes torn denim jeans and a simple black t-shirt that has her beloved penguin pal, Wasley printed on the front with his name underneath in bold pink letters, and her combat boots thudded heavily with every skipping step.
Trailing in her wake like a reluctantly summoned spirit was her mother, Angelica Jones. Her own red hair was a few shades darker than Kimberly’s and swept back into a no-nonsense ponytail. She wore a tailored leather jacket over a black turtleneck, dark jeans, and low-heeled boots; practical, understated, and immaculately clean. In one hand she carried a tablet covered in taped-on notes and sticky reminders; in the other, she wheeled a modest black suitcase that had been packed with military precision. The contrast between the two women was dramatic but unmistakably familial. Kimberly bounced from one end of the suite to the other like a pinball, throwing open curtains, jumping on the bed with a delighted whoop, and inspecting the minibar like it contained ancient secrets. Angelica, by contrast, walked with slow grace, silently inspecting corners, drawers, and outlets with practiced disinterest.
Kimberly flopped onto the couch and pulled out the beloved and popular Wasley penguin himself from his hiding place in her gym bag. She placed Wasley gently on the armrest like a judge taking the bench. Her eyes roamed the ceiling as she whispered something under her breath, her lips twitching with amusement. Angelica let out a slow breath and finally set her suitcase by the wall, removing her jacket and hanging it on the back of the only straight-backed chair in the room. Then she turned to face her daughter, hands on hips, expression unreadable, as Kimberly’s manic smile widened in anticipation.
“Well, Breakdown is tomorrow night and we are on the road to Rise To Greatness.” Angelica says in a tone that clearly indicates this is more of a lecture than a conversation starter. “You know what that means?”
“Better catering?”
“Doubtful.” Angelica smirks. “It means you have a match, against Meghan Strader, and since we are in Rise To Greatness season, every match becomes even more important. Every match is a must win. So what do you plan to do, Kim?”
“Well, I have given this some thought,” The Woman Scorned snickers “Strader was rather mean to Wasley here.” She pats the penguin on its head. “Maybe I should make her pay? Would it be too extreme of me to gut her with Betty White? I did bring her with me on the trip.”
“Betty White? You mean your knife glove?”
“Yes.”
“No.” Angelica shakes her head.
“No it’s not too extreme if I gut her like a fish?” Kim says, sounding rather surprised and excited at the same time. But her mother instantly puts a damper on the excitement.
“No as in NO do not do that.” Angelica states firmly. “These are not Underground Rules. This is a standard match. And if you play by the rules then it could work to your favor.”
“I hate playing by the rules.” Kim says, playfully pouting as she folds her arms over her chest like a child having a tantrum. Angelica smirks.
“Yes, but I have done my homework…well, I have done your homework for you…Strader loves a good fight just as much as you do…she likely will expect you to just lose your mind and go all Crazy Kim out there.”
“That’s what my Kimmymaniacs want!” Kim proudly declares.
“That’s right but you are a damn good professional wrestler as well. You just won your first major world championship. You are the champ over in Valiant. You are one win away from being World Champion in GCW. The strides you have made in such a short period of time, it’s incredible. You CAN outwrestle Strader. In fact, I think that’s your best strategy.”
“Great, play to my ego.” Kim sticks her tongue out. Then she sighs. “Fine, I’ll do it your way. But it won’t be fun for me or Wasley.”
“Wasley as in the penguin or your boyfriend?”
“The boyfriend.” Kim grins from ear to ear.
“Ok then.” Angelica smiles. She sits down next to her daughter on the couch. “Speaking of Tommy, I am sure that he is relieved that your feud with Karen Lassiter and that homeowner’s association is over.”
“He is very relieved.” Kim sighs, feigning disappointment. “I’m kinda disappointed. I had fun driving ol’ Kare-Bear crazy.”
“Kimberly…” Angelica rolls her eyes “...I’m sure you had fun at her expense, and she likely deserved it, but you are lucky that the situation didn’t end worse for you.”
“Look, I’m sorry that my little feud worried you…Marie…Jessica…Tommy…”
“Pretty much the entire family.”
“Right!” Kim smirks. “But hey, I had fun! And I even made a few friends along the way!”
“Friends?” Angelica arches her brow out of curiosity. Kim nods her head enthusiastically.
“Yup! This older wealthy lady was impressed with how I managed to drive Kare-Bear out of the community! She was soooo impressed that she made me her special guest to her exclusive little restaurant in town and even invited me to join her little club!”
“You? Becoming sociable with the elites?” Angelica laughs. “Say it so.”
“I’m learning that all rich people aren’t totally snobbish freaks.” Kim nods her head. “But uh, yeah, she invited me to join The Athenian Fellowship…whatever the hell that is…” Kim shrugs her shoulders “...have you heard of it?”
“No, can’t say that I have.”
“That’s funny.” Kim remarks. “Because she said Bart was a member.”
“Bart? As in my dad? Your grandfather?”
“The one and the same.” Kim nods her head. “But I don’t recall reading about it in his journals. So I don’t know if she’s full of crap or not.”
“If he WAS I would have been a little girl still and I wouldn’t have remembered.” Angelica says. “But what kind of organization is this…uh…Athenian Fellowship?”
“Its a secret society.” Kim shrugs her shoulders. “That’s all I got out of her.”
“Oh well then I highly doubt that your grandfather would have been a member.” Angelica grins knowingly. “Your grandfather was a devoted, practicing Catholic and the Catholic Church since the dawn of time has been opposed to any and all secret societies.”
“But this one does good deeds…so they say…”
“It doesn’t matter.” Angelia shakes her head. “The Church opposes all secret societies, no matter how benevolent they claim to be. Its the same reason why Freemasons cannot be Catholics. The Church outright forbids membership in secret societies.”
“But the thing about secret societies is that it is SECRET…” Kim grins from ear to ear “...maybe he was SECRETLY a member?”
“But then he would be blatantly breaking Church doctrine.” Angelica shakes her head. “I remember one thing very well about my father and that is one thing he would never do. He was a devoted Catholic.”
“Just like you?” Kim smirks, pointing a finger at her mother. “How many women did you sleep with?”
“She who casts the first stone.” Angelica counters.
“Fair enough.” Kim shakes her head. “Look, forget about the Church, because there’s no use arguing about religion. How many wars has that started, am I right?” Kim snickers.
“Right and the point is, at the end of the day, I really don’t know for certain.” Angelica says. “But I seriously doubt he really was a member of that group. Sorry I couldn’t help you there, Kimmy.”
“Oh it’s ok.” Kim winks. “You can still help me with something else.”
“What’s that?” Angelica arches her brow out of curiosity. The Queen of the Death Match points to her bag.
“Go get the camera!
“What? Why?”
“Just do it.” Kim says playfully. Angelica sighs as she gets up and goes over to the bag and digs inside. Eventually she comes up with a small camera. She turns to face Kim, still looking confused, unsure of what her eccentric daughters wants from all of this.
“Now what?”
“Start recording!”
“Wait here?” Angelica looks on with surprise. “You want to trash talk Strader here? Now?”
“Yeah! While I’m feeling frisky!”
“Fine…” Angelica sighs fiddles with the camera before pushing record…

The Woman Scorned playfully waves at the camera. A look of pure mischief is etched across her face. She may have come up short in the Taking Hold of the Flame battle royal but, based on her appearances, you wouldn’t be able to tell. Kimberly Williams seems absolutely thrilled right now one day before her match on Breakdown against Meghan Strader. And is that confidence she is exuding or just insanity? Maybe a little of both.
“Hi there, Kimmymaniacs! Your fearless leader, The People’s Bunkhouse Stampede Champion, is here off of what I think was a fantastic performance at Taking Hold of the Flame! Now did I win?” Williams shakes her head. “Alas, no! This year will not be the year you will get to witness a People’s Bunkhouse Stampede Main Event at Rise To Greatness. You’ll have to settle for two of the greatest to ever do it…Cid Turner and Xander Valentine…and of course the only man who matches me in craziness and insanity, Giovanni Aries!” She flips off the camera. “Screw you, Gio! ALL HAIL THE LIZARD KING! May our reptilian overlords continue to reign supreme and dominate us human flesh creatures!” She winks.
“Am I disappointed that I came up short? Of course I am. Everyone in that match went in with the singular goal of winning…except Clyde Sutter…he went in to do the will of fate, whatever that means…but the rest of us, we went into Taking Hold of the Flame determined to punch our ticket to the main event of Rise To Greatness. Unfortunately that spot is typically reserved for one person. CHBKlmnopqrstuvwxyz decided to let TWO people punch that ticket, but that’s beside the point. Every single one of us, those of us who failed to punch their ticket, are disappointed in the outcome. But Taking Hold of the Flame is more than just one great big lottery where luck of the draw reigns supreme. Your performance in that match can still elevate your status, it can shock the world, and even though you didn’t win, you can still change the trajectory of your career with a solid performance in that match.” Williams pats herself on the chest.
“I said at the beginning of this year that this would be the year of Kimberly Williams. This would be the year that I stepped out and proved to the world that while, yes, Crazy Kim is entertaining as hell and more fun than anyone else, I am also among the very best in this game. June 1st, I had one hell of a run in the Taking Hold of the Flame battle royal. I came in seventh place out of forty. Tell me that’s not pretty damn impressive. And since my performance in that battle royal, I have captured my first world title from another promotion, I am the Valiant Champion. I captured the HKW Bloodlust Championship. I am one win away from capturing my SECOND world championship, this time in GCW. So I dare anyone to step up and tell me to stay in my lane because, quite frankly, I think I’ve silenced my critics and proved beyond the shadow of a doubt that MY LANE is wherever the hell I want to be! Tell me, SCW, have you known anyone in this promotion to ever stop me? Anytime I wanted to create chaos I did it. I wanted to become tag champions with my sister and I did it. I wanted the Television Title so I beat Syren’s dumb little pal Autumn Valentine. I wanted the United State Titles so I stunned Bree Lancaster and took the title off of her and the shock of it all likely caused her to block me from social media. Then I decided to take the Underground Title and elevate it to heights never before seen in this company.” She holds up two fingers. “I am two championships away from Supreme Championship status. Everywhere is my lane now. Don’t believe me? Ask around.” She points a finger at the camera.
“Now that brings me to you, Meggy! Can I call you Meggy? It doesn’t matter, I’m gonna call you that anyway. There were those who overlooked you heading into Taking Hold of the Flame. Syren was among them. And may I say, the hell you have been giving her, the chaos you have been creating in her SCW career lately has brought a tear to my eye…” she claps “...I am a huge fan of you, your friends the Cowgirls, and what you have done to that stuck up little bitch. She is faker, a schemer, and a con artist. She wants the world to believe that she has changed but she is a liar. She is the same cutthroat monster she always has been and always will be and any enemy of hers is a friend of mine.” The Queen of the Death Match snickers.
“Although from what I have observed, you do not seem like the kind of person who wants my friendship. That’s ok. Although I will warn you, most of the people I fight to the death with end up being my besties. So we’ll see how that goes, am I right?” Kim laughs gleefully. The eccentric ginger is distracted. “Now where was I? Oh right!” She snaps her fingers. “Syren. She may be a snotty manipulative bitch but she is a legend in SCW. Targeting her takes guts. The fact that you and your friends went after her the way that you did…I respect that. That should have opened some eyes. Then there was your performance at Taking Hold of the Flame. You didn’t win but your performance was impressive. It should have opened up some eyes. But as you well know, all too often people overlook everyone else in matches like that and focus only on the lucky winner…or winners in this case…normally that would allow you to go under the radar.” Williams shakes her head.
“Not with me. I am psychotic, I fully own up to my magical flaw, and I am a proud agent of chaos, but what many people do not know is that I am a student of the game. I always do my homework and I never let anyone go unnoticed. I never let anyone go under the radar and someone like you, Meggy, never ever goes unnoticed by me. I have watched what you can do knowing that one day the time would come where you and your cowgirls would clash me and my chaos. Meggy Strader versus The Queen of the Death Match. I knew it would be coming and I was preparing myself for that inevitability, for that day…and that day is tomorrow night on Breakdown.” She throws her head back and laughs.
“Oh who the hell am I kidding? I am an agent of chaos. I don’t make plans. I ruin everyone else’s plans and enjoy doing it. But I have done my homework. I DO know what you are capable of. And there is one other thing I know…this is Rise To Greatness season. This is also still the year of Kimberly Williams. Now I may not be going to the main event of Rise To Greatness, I may not be challenging for the World Title, but I can still impact my trajectory and even yours with my own unique brand of chaos. The path is not set and, when chaos is involved, the path is never set. Chaos ensures that the path is never clear. And that is exactly what…and WHO…you are dealing with, Meggy. You are not dealing with a schemer like Syren and her idiot friend Lexy or that moron Ravyn. You are dealing with pure, unadulterated chaos in human form. I am NOT someone you can prepare for, no matter how much you try to convince yourself otherwise.” Kim laughs nastily.
“Everyone else in SCW is scraping the bottom of the barrel, clawing around for whatever is left, trying to make something happen, trying to get to their ‘consolation prize’ now that the world title match is set for Rise To Greatness. But me? I embrace the chaos of it all. Let it come! Let chaos reign! You, Meggy, I suspect you are like the rest of the disappointed bunch, scratching and clawing for what’s left, trying to plan out your path to Rise To Greatness. And unfortunately I am going to be the agent of chaos who turns your plans on its head.” She winks. “Kimmy OUT!”
