Under Attack is a couple days away, but Kimberly Williams now has another match and another opponent she must focus on. The Woman Scorned is going to The Wholesome Family Event, hosted by KABLAM, to face Deanna Frost in the Shot of Adrenaline Tournament. The Queen of the Death Match has made it perfectly clear that she is not happy with the Shot of Adrenaline Tournament, that she would rather not be a participant in this tournament. This match, however, is different. Kimberly has a great deal of respect for Deanna due to their many fights against one another and the many times they have teamed up to fight a common foe. Williams considers Deanna a friend. Kim’s last one on one match, against Veil several weeks ago, was dedicated to Deanna, to make Veil pay for what he did to her. Due to this friendship and respect, Kimberly knows that she has to give it her all, she has to be at the top of her game when the Wholesome Family Event rolls around. Deanna Frost deserves nothing less from the Queen of the Death Match.

Tonight, however, Kimberly has something entirely different on her mind. Kim had joined the Athenian Fellowship, a secret organization, at the behest of Camilla Aldridge, a wealthy neighbor. Later she learned that her grandfather, Bart Jones, had once been a member of that organization as part of an infiltration plan by the federal government to learn a secret. He came close to finding out what the secret but then the government kicked him off the case. Kimberly thus made it her mission to finish the mission, to find out the secret that the Fellowship had been hiding. A little over a week ago Kimberly Williams infiltrated The Athenian Fellowship library and finally discovered the secret; Camilla Aldridge and the Fellowship’s leader, Grant Vito, have been pushing drugs throughout Massachusetts. On top of that, she has enough evidence to not only vindicate her grandfather, but to bring down the Athenian Fellowship once and for all. There’s still one thing she needs to do to complete the mission.

Halloween night in Boston was brisk and wind-stirred, the kind of evening where the leaves scraped across the pavement like whispers of old memories. The air carried that particular chill that crept beneath the skin and made every breath feel sharper, more vivid. The streets were alive with the laughter and rustling of children darting between porches, their costumes a blur of color against the dim glow of streetlights. Porch lights flickered in invitation, some soft and warm, others colored in eerie orange or purple hues, while plastic skeletons and inflatable monsters danced faintly in the wind. Kimberly Williams walked among them, her black-and-white penguin costume rustling faintly as she made her way down a quiet side street. The outfit, oversized and comical, drew amused looks from passersby, but she wore it with an easy kind of confidence. The white belly of the suit puffed outward with each step, the little red bow tie perfectly centered beneath her chin. The hood, shaped like a penguin’s head, framed her face with soft black fabric, a yellow beak resting just above her brow. Her long copper-red hair tumbled out from underneath in loose curls that caught the dim light of the streetlamps. She carried a small plastic pumpkin pail in one hand, mostly for show, since the candy inside was just an afterthought. Her breath fogged faintly as she turned the corner, leaving behind the more festive part of the neighborhood. Here, the houses stood farther apart, each one older and quieter, their decorations more subdued, a few paper bats in a window, a single pumpkin glowing faintly on a porch step. The road under her feet was cracked and uneven, lined with fallen leaves that crunched softly with each step. Somewhere in the distance, a group of children shrieked with laughter, their voices fading into the hum of the city.

Kimberly’s pace slowed as she spotted the house she was looking for, a modest, two-story home with a steep roof and narrow front porch. The light above the door glowed a warm yellow, cutting through the dusk. A few Halloween decorations hung by the porch rail: a simple string of orange lights, a ceramic pumpkin beside the steps, and a cardboard cutout of a black cat that had begun to curl at the edges from the damp. She paused at the end of the walkway, looking up at it. This was the home of Luke Anderson, her grandfather’s old friend, a retired detective whose name had once appeared in the local paper more than once. He’d investigated some of the city’s stranger cases back in the day, the kind that blurred the line between crime and mystery, logic and the unexplainable. He worked with Bart Jones on the Athenian Fellowship case, which is what brought him and The Woman Scorned together. She hadn’t told anyone she was coming. The costume was part of the disguise, a harmless, cheerful excuse to show up unannounced on Halloween night. To anyone else, she would look like an eccentric woman taking part in the festivities. But beneath the playful pretense, Kimberly had a deeper motive.

She took a slow breath and started up the walkway. The boards creaked faintly beneath her feet, the sound almost swallowed by the rustle of dry leaves tumbling across the yard. The air smelled faintly of smoke from someone’s fireplace down the street, mingled with the sugary scent of candy on the wind. As she reached the porch steps, the wind lifted a few strands of her hair across her face, and she brushed them aside with a gloved hand. The porch light above her head buzzed faintly, casting her shadow against the wall. She hesitated for just a moment, the small plastic pumpkin swinging gently from her fingers, and then she raised her hand and knocked. The door creaked faintly from the other side, and Kimberly straightened, gripping the pumpkin pail a little tighter. The warm glow spilling through the curtain shifted, and the faint sound of movement reached her ears, slow, deliberate footsteps on wooden floors. She drew in a breath, her heart beginning to quicken beneath the thick layers of her costume. The doorknob turned. The hinges gave a low, familiar groan as the door began to open, spilling a line of golden light across the porch, cutting through the cool October dark. The door opens and Luke stands there in the doorway, wearing a flannel plaid sweater, long khaki pants, and simple sketchers slip ins. His white hair is messed up a little, a slight contrast to his overall nice appearance this evening. The eccentric Kimberly Williams in her penguin outfit holds out her pail.

“Trick-or-treat!” She exclaims. “Gimme candy, or else!”

“Kimberly?”

Luke seems shocked at first. Granted, this isn’t the first time they have met. They once before, at a cafe. He had told her that night that she should stay away from The Athenian Fellowship and he had not expected to see her again. Yet here she is, on his front doorstep, dressed in this ridiculous penguin outfit. After taking a moment to take it all in, the retired detective finally cracks a smile.

“Aren’t you a little too old for trick-or-treating?”

“Never too old to have fun!” She winks playfully. “And unless you’ve been living under a rock lately, you should know all about the fun I have been having!”

Luke Anderson nods his head. He steps outside and shuts the door behind him.

“Yes I have. You truly are Bart’s granddaughter…causing trouble wherever you go.”

“I take that as a compliment!”

“As you should.” The older man says, smiling down warmly at her. “You and your grandfather were a lot alike Kimberly; you had your own unorthodox methods that went against the grain but you were still efficient and got the job done.”

“Damn right I do!” A look of mischief forms on her face. “And I suppose the Athenian Fellowship found out the hard way, huh?”

“Yes, I suppose they did.” Luke nods his head. “I heard that the organization is embroiled in scandal. It’s the talk of the community. This secretive organization of wealthy eccentrics possibly being involved in dealing drugs? They might not recover from it.”

“Such a shame.” Kim shakes her head. “I wonder who would have leaked such disastrous information to the press and to the authorities?” She feigns innocence. Luke smirks.

“Who indeed?” He chuckles. He places a hand on her shoulder. “You did a good job, Kimberly.”

“Thanks.” She sighs. “But I think you are right, about one thing…”

“Oh?”

“It’s time for me to quit. No more infiltration, no more pretending, no more digging into that group’s past. I think I’ve done enough.”

“Yes, you have certainly done enough.” Luke responds, nodding his head. “Quitting is for the best. That organization is dangerous and they could target you if they were to learn YOU were the one who helped expose them.”

“Is that why your bosses pulled you and my grandfather off the case?” Kim asks curiously. Luke nods his head.

“Partly, yes. The biggest problem was they didn’t have enough of a case to pursue them. They were convinced they were up to no good, they knew they were dangerous, but they didn’t have enough of a case to continue justifying putting myself and your grandfather at risk.” He shakes his head. “It still bothered your grandfather, though. He didn’t know when to quit.”

“Yeah, that’s something else I get from him…” her voice trails off. Luke arches his brow out of curiosity.

“Oh?”

“Yeah…” she sighs “...you could say that I am a little disappointed in the outcome.”

“Why?” The retired detective asks. “What you did was incredible. You brought an end to a long running criminal enterprise. The evidence you presented to the media and to the authorities will allow them to pursue the Fellowship, make arrests, and likely end the organization permanently. You should be proud of yourself.”

“Yeah, I know.” She nods her head. “And I know they’ll get Camilla. But you know as well as I do that she’ll just be the fall guy. The real brains of that operation will get off scott free.”

“Grant Vito…” Luke states stoically. Kim nods her head.

“Yeah, him. He should be brought to justice too but he will get away. He has more connections than Camilla. He can bribe his way to freedom.” She shakes her head. “It isn’t right. It isn’t justice.”

“You sound like your grandfather.” Luke chuckles. “Bart Jones never did like to see criminals get away due to loopholes in the justice system. I would often have to talk him down from going full on vigilante. Usually I could…” he sighs “...except that one time that even I couldn’t talk him down from the ledge…”

“You mean when my grandmother was murdered, right?” Kim asks. Luke nods his head.

“Yes, when Kelly Jones was murdered by foreign agents, and the US government would not pursue the case, Bart went after the suspect himself. That was the end of his job with the US government.” He shakes his head. “It is never easy to see the bad guys get away, to see them roam free. Bart’s character flaw is that he wanted to see justice done by any means necessary. That eventually cost him everything. His job, his family…everything.”

“I guess I am a bit of a vigilante myself, I can’t stand to see bad people get away with murder.” Kim shakes her head. “It just isn’t right.”

“Unfortunately there is nothing you can do, nothing legally.” Luke pats her on the back. “What your father could not do is accept the small victories; did me and Bart bring down the Athenian Fellowship? No, but we certainly slowed them down and we saved several young people from falling into drugs in the process. And while the Fellowship was still active, they were at least on the government’s radar screen. He couldn’t see the positives in the small victories.”

“What small victories have I achieved?” Kim asks. “Sure, Camilla Aldridge was a criminal and she’s likely going down. The Athenian Fellowship has had more damage done to it now than ever before, it may never recover. But the big cheese behind it all likely won’t go down. Grant Vito is likely going to survive this. He is the one responsible but he’s getting away with it.”

“You do not that yet, Kim.” Luke smiles warmly. “It’s in the hands of the justice system now. Let the authorities take it from here. You did everything you can do; hell, you did MORE than what you needed to do. You took a huge risk by infiltrating that group and you brought them down. No one else can be harmed by The Athenian Fellowship and it is thanks to you.”

Kimberly Williams doesn’t like the idea of small victories. This all started as a journey of trying to get close to her late grandfather Bart Jones. Kim wanted to know how, in what way, was she like this man she never ever met. Now she realizes that she is too much like her grandfather in that neither one could accept someone getting away with murder. The idea of accepting the small victories as Luke Anderson put it was foreign to The Woman Scorned. Yet now, as she looks into the warm eyes of this retired detective, a man who knew her grandfather better than anyone else, she begins to contemplate his wisdom. She thinks about those words and the small victories. Eventually a grin forms on her own face.

“This isn’t the first time I brought down a criminal organization…”

“Is that so?”

“Yeah…” she smirks “...I helped bring down that sex cult, the Inner Peace Enlightenment Retreat."

“Thaat was you?” Luke asks, sounding somewhat surprised. Kim nods her head.

“Yup! That was me!”

“Incredible.” He chuckles. “See? You have done plenty of good, just like your grandfather.”

“I guess.” The eccentric ginger smiles. “Well, I shouldn’t be bothering you anymore, Luke.” She turns to walk off but the retired detective calls out after her.

“Kimberly, wait…” she stops and turns back to face him “...may I ask, why did you want to pursue The Athenian Fellowship in the first place? What made you want to join them and then go after them?”

“It’s a long story.” She sighs. “Very complex, very complicated. Suffice to say, I am a very fucked up individual and because of that I never truly felt like I belonged to the Jones family, despite being a Jones all my life. I tried to find my identity first with my father’s family, the Williams’s. But my father, I learned, was a serial killer.” She shakes her head. “That’s definitely not me. At least, I didn’t want to believe that was me, that I was just a monster. So I wanted to see how I fit into the Jones family, if at all. I thought maybe I could find that connection through Bart Jones, my grandfather.”

“Did you?” Luke asks. “Did you find where you fit into your family through your grandfather’s memory?”

“Yeah…” she smiles “...I think so.”

“I have not known you long, Kimberly. But from what little time I have spent with you, what little I know about you, you do not seem like a monster like your father. Are you a little reckless like your grandfather? Perhaps, but that’s not a bad thing, because you both were idealists. Don’t lose sight of that.”

Listen up, Kimmymaniacs, yours truly…The People’s Champion…is going to take you, THE PEOPLE, into the happiest place on earth! No, I don’t mean Disney. Besides, with all the gators, boas, and Mara Lagos running around Florida, I’m not sure how happy that place is nowadays. Oh no, I mean Kablamia! Apparently KABLAMIA is the happiest place on earth and your People’s Champion is proud to lead you, THE PEOPLE, right into Kablamia for this very special wholesome family event…for those nineteen of years and older…now my penguin Wasley is a little under that nineteen year limit but I promise I will smuggle him in some way.

That or I can bribe Derek Adonis? I’m sure Kablamia could use some very special “We…THE PEOPLE’S…Bunkhouse Stampede Lube”...or “We…THE PEOPLE’S…Bunkhouse Stampede Baby Oil”...Stick with me, Derek! I got plenty of money making ideas for you!

All that will have to wait until later because Kimmymania isn’t coming to Kablamia just to have fun. Although you can believe that much fun will be had by one and all with the one true Queen of Chaos…accept NO substitutes…around entertaining the masses! Fun will be had but I am also here on some business as well and that business is called The Shot of Adrenaline Tournament.

Heh Heh, I said “shot”, heh heh…

I don’t think I need to say anything else about The Shot of Adrenaline Tournament. I think I have made my personal views of this tournament perfectly clear. It isn’t just the fact that this is really and truly The Shot of Boredom Tournament, but this tournament and my continued participation in it is distracting me from the two goals I really and truly want to accomplish, the only two things I have left that I want to do in SCW; I want to win back the SCW Underground Championship. I want to win the SCW World Championship and thus complete the Supreme Championship. Becoming Adrenaline Champion again is not something I particularly want to do. If I happen to win this tournament, or if I happen to become Adrenaline Champion in the process, I have made my intentions clear; I will vacate the title.

Now the old me, from years ago, would’ve likely spat in the face of authority and just thrown the tournament. Get intentionally counted out. Get intentionally disqualified. Just lie down and let the other person pin me. Lose intentionally the remainder of the matches to just make a point. But that Kim of old is long gone. Throwing this tournament is not something I can do, not anymore. See, back then I did not think myself worthy of my family’s wrestling legacy. But I worked my ass off to prove to myself that I was worthy, that I did belong among the Jones family greats. Now I recognize the importance of competition because I did not bust my ass, I did not bleed and sacrifice my body, for nothing. Throwing this tournament would be disrespectful to those who DO care about the Adrenaline Title. I cannot do that.

Besides, winning this tournament could help me achieve my real goals. I mean, imagine if I do manage to go all the way and win this tournament? Some of the best names, toughest competitors in SCW right now are competing in it. Imagine if I were to win? It would be hard to argue that I am not worthy of at least consideration for one of those title shots that I really and truly want.

There is one other reason why I cannot throw this tournament…specifically, why I cannot throw this next match…

…and that’s you, Deanna. We have quite the storied history, don’t we? We’ve been enemies and we’ve been friends. We’ve tried to destroy each other. We’ve fought alongside each other. Does that make us frenemies? I don’t know. I’d like to think we’re friends. At the very least I’d hope that there is some mutual respect because I do respect you. You have dared to set foot into territory where some would argue you didn’t belong and yet you survived. You took on challenges that others warned you to back away from and you survived. When most thought you would never be anything except Selena Frost’s sidekick, you stepped out of her shadow and made a name all your own. You took a part of the spotlight for yourself. You created a fanbase, a movement all your own…your gritters. And they should be very proud of what you have accomplished.

You deserve nothing less than the absolute best out of me. It would be disrespectful of me to hold back for any reason. So you can rest assured that you will get the woman who this very moment holds two world championships simultaneously. You will get one person who, better than anyone else, can weaponize chaos. You will get the one true Queen of Chaos because chaos is, and always has been, my bread and butter. It brought me to the dance, it gave me numerous victories, and if I have my way, it will provide me with this victory over you and two more points in the tournament.

Because I do have a drive to win, I have a motivation to win. I need to earn my way to my goal, to my personal finish line. And I need to give you the kind of fight you deserve, the kind of fight that I know you would want.
