Matt Hodges lit the wrestling world on fire in 2008 when he broke out, winning the Taking Hold of the Flame that year and go on to dethrone Brian Kinney to become SCW World Champion. Having survived the flawed SCW’s development system in the mid-2000s, he and his friend James Exeter climbed up the ladder and cemented themselves as big-time players in professional wrestling. WORLD CLASS is known to be one of the most arrogant sociopaths this sport created, and that says a lot. The thing he, he backed up his talk in the ring, silencing critics and doubters with top performances against the company’s elite. He seemed destined to become one of the all-time greats, but a string of injuries forced him into early retirement. Yet his contributions to the sport earned him a coveted spot in the SCW Hall of Fame in 2017.

Well, WORLD CLASS is back, baby!

And once again, he has the wrestling world buzzing. He has shown that he still got it, especially with his incredible showing at this year’s Taking Hold of the Flame. Entering at #9, Matt Hodges battled until the very hand, being the second to last to be eliminated. However, rumors have started circulating that because of the duration of his matches as well as his opponents’ tendency to target his knee, his old injuries are coming back to haunt him. But regardless, Hodges has a date at Rise to Greatness with one of SCW’s top young stars, Alistaire Allocco. Will Matt Hodges show the wrestling world once more his greatness?

Time will only tell. If I was a betting man, I wouldn’t count out Matt Hodges, not ever.
